No 2018 iMac?!

I keep checking the lead times for a CTO iMac. (I figure if the order is customised, there would be some kind of interruption to manufacturing.)

So far, no change… But I’d perhaps expect it to alter if an event is in the offing…

I agree. As much as I like my 2014 iMac I'm ready to upgrade. I really hope Apple releases something this month.

OMG!!! I am so tired of waiting for a new imac to come out. I need a good one now and dont want to drop the 3k and in 5-6 months see they came out with something that could really do well. I wish apple would get back to doing the one thing they do well and do that one thing! they dont need to become the latest and greatest cooler maker just because they are called coolers! GRRRRRRR

Yea an official keynote always get press invites, and usually its sent out a week to two weeks in advance. So I will find it really hard to stay optimistic about any possible keynote if after this Wednesday passes without any invites. 🙁

There is no way that they will announce the iPad Pro redesign without an event. New Mac’s are also expected so an event is very likely.

Invites could still go out next Tuesday 23rd for an event on the 30th, I wouldn’t give up just yet.

Not for October events, they usually give a week or 8 days notice, for example the last October event in 2016 was announced with invites on the 19th with the event being on the 27th.

2013 invite sent Tuesday October 15
2014 invite sent Wednesday October 8
2016 invite sent Wednesday 19th October

Going by past predictions they could still send them out anytime between now and next Tuesday. With Tim Cool being in Europe next week my guess is invites will go out next Tuesday for an event on the 30th.

New iPads, Mac’s and accessories will probably be released in November, with early November being pre-order time.

So here are my guesses as October is winding down. I did say guesses 😉

1. With the lack of rumours and or part leaks in 2018, it means Apple will more than likely retain the current form factor.

2. Should Apple pull a surprise bunny out of its hat and announce a redesigned iMac for its anniversary. I am calling a special November event for the iMac and Mac mini.

3. However my gut feeling is leaning on a silent refresh should Apple host a October event. With a redesigned iMac to be introduced alongside the Mac Pro and Mac Mini in 2019.

Either way I am not fussed given the rising cost of Apple gear, my late 2013 IMac is running even better now with Mojave. I can afford to wait out, rather than buy the same design again.

Apple recently releases iMac with a 1+ year frequency. So if iMacs get an update in October/November, I don’t think they will be updated again until early 2020.

Not in the last 15 years I think. There have been some March/April events (mostly iPads and last-gen MacBook) and the original iPad was introducted in January.

I've lost faith in Cook/Apple since 2011 regarding the company's commitment to the Mac and its OS.

I'm using a Late 2013 iMac and anxiously await even a decent hardware upgrade to justify replacing my aging desktop.

But even though my favorite fruit company can annually issue watches and phones like clockwork, it appears that the Mac is an afterthought now, even to people like me who need/use it every day to earn a living.

I almost think it's a market Apple would like to abandon. There was a time Apple was the company for the rest of us with innovative technology that worked. Now it's just kind of another giant corporation with no soul and interested only in maximizing profit. I've been ready to buy a new iMac for a couple of months. I refuse to pay the full price for a computer released in June, 2017. I'm at the point where I'm needing a new computer and for the first time in a decade I'm considering transitioning back to Windows, though I know that's not a panacea either.

I felt the same way for months, waiting for a new iMac. I decided to build a pc, I'll see how bad transitioning to Windows is or how hard it is to hackintosh it. Waiting for my 9600k and RTX 2070 has been a lot more fun and rewarding than waiting for the iMac 🙂

Would be interested to follow how you get on with that... I bought iMac when current gen came out last year and still have old Mac Pro from 2008 and much prefer that system’s modularity. Thought had occurred to me, before Apple presumably lock out that sort of thing e.g. via T2 (total speculation on my part there). Is there a place in this forum somewhere to stick results or is that for tonymacx86?

The IMAC is an afterthought anymore. I cannot believe Jobs left Cook in charge. I am on a 2008 and working hard to keep alive with shi**y OS updates if they work and when they come. Due to many issues, I am unwilling to upgrade to the latest not so greatest. However, I also hate to go the way of needing firewall this and spamware that.

These are my thoughts. I hate to try and figure out windows again. I know I can but dang, what a crappy way to go. I used to be a die hard fan. Turned many people to apple folks. Now, I scream WTF?!
