Unfortunately that's because too many people thrive on negativity.

Also because too many people know what they want, but Apple refuses to give it to them. Naturally, you and your buddies will say the tried and true - go buy an android, just be happy with the new Mac Mini, grin and bare it that you are not allowed to upgrade your own macs anymore, or the BEST "go built your own tablet/computer". But we are invested in OS X, and iOS. The other options are far worse.

We are 90% there, but Apple chooses to do what is best for themselves, and not give the consumers what we are asking for.

So,until that happens, expect posts pointing out when they don't get what they want from apple. If you had your way, Apple would release more gimped products like the new Mac Mini, and the rest of us should bow down to tim&Co. for the allowing us the privilege of purchasing an Apple product.

Also dont forget that 2GB of RAM doesn't necessarily mean that it will fix the safari reloading issue. That's why I'm going to just wait and see what others say first.

The point is that whinging and whining about it on this forum isn't going to help in the slightest and it just fills the forum with a lot of negative posts and fighting.

You're not helping either yourself or anyone else by posting complaints about what Apple's products do or don't have. We can't help you. So you might as well just not post.

It's one of the most popular Apple forums around. It helps, it gets the word out, people will search and this thread and others like it will come up and people will then be aware of the limitations. Something you and ZBoater want to keep a secret apparently. Sorry. Not gonna happen.

I don't want to keep it a secret, it just doesn't help to post it. I want 2GB of RAM in the iPad Air 2 just as much as the next person, but posting negative things in this forum isn't going to Influence whether it does have 2GB or not, so there's no point bitching about it.

Actually, and forgive me if I'm overstating it, you're the one posting in disagreement, in a thread that started out under the assumption that 1GB of RAM wasn't enough for the iPad at this stage of the game. My personal thought is that perhaps you should have known what you were getting into.

As for the overall question, I can't say I know for sure. I'm upgrading from an iPad 2, so the performance for me will be a definite improvement, but I like to poke around to see other people's opinions. Everyone is allowed one... well, at least in the US... for the moment. :)

I will also mention that 2IS was correct that he did answer your question earlier in the thread, so unless you're just trying to start a fight, read the thread. It actually takes a lot less time than arguing with folks that... well, enjoy arguing. ;) Unless you enjoy arguing too... In which case, I'll leave you all to your fun.

I don't judge. I don't understand it, but then again, I still have yet to get the point of baseball, either. Ah, the mysteries of the world.

There's no possible way you can know that. You have no way of knowing who has viewed this thread, where it has been reposted, what purchasing decisions have been made because of it or what future changes could be made to the product line because of it or others like it. No possible way you can know any of that so save me the BS of pretending otherwise.

I feel it will help so I'll keep posting when I feel Apple is doing something dumb. Complaining is not against the forum rules, if you don't like it, there is nothing to stop you from building your own forum and creating your own rules.

If more "fat, dumb, and rich" typical Apple consumers do a tiny bit of research on an apple product before buying, and comes here to learn of the limitations, and alters their plans, then there is more pressure put on apple to abandon their disposable computer ways. Planned obsolescence is not being "green", it's putting more computers/devicesin landfills.

Yeah, they didn't cover RAM specs in their keynote. That is so strange. Something they've always done before they somehow skipped it this time...

i don't think they do include ipad ram in keynote. if you google how much ram ipad you'll find threads about this very topic for older models.

I noticed the keynote this time just didn't have the enthusiasm like prior years. I'm not talking about news of the products but in the delivery from Tim and the other 2 guys. I think they are getting into a rut in their delivery and their losing the momentum. Especially the last guy who talked about the iPads, it was like he was just going through the motions. Did anyone else notice this? Maybe it's because the audience was small?

The keynote didn't really grab me. The new iPads don't add enough to make me want to replace the one I have. Just as well since I did get the new iPhone 6+ at full price and am done spending till next year.

I really don't get why Apple doesn't display specs on their website! It is like buying a damn car and not telling you if its a gas or diesal,a V6 or V8.... What the hell is the big secret on stupid ram and specs??!!

I think by keeping it secret more people will just pull the trigger and purchase..of course Apple is betting once you get it you won't return it.

Apple is trying really hard to sell you a story for a product, because they do not want you to buy their products based on specs.

The innovation is never told as a pure technical innovation, it has to have a benefit for the user.

Why is that? Simple. Apple orders parts from suppliers like everyone else.
Apple can get good pricing for these parts because they know that they sell.

All the talk about photo-aligned LCD displays is not at all Apple specific.
The reason why other products do not use these displays ia probably the increased cost.

Coming back to the 2GB RAM question. What story would Apple tell you?
Run more Apps? No, they told you what their concept of multitasking is.

Handle more data? No at all, this is not a story.
The story has to be hoe efficient iOS deals with all available resources.

Is the CPU 1,2 GHz or 1.4 GHz?
Apple just tells how fast it is compared to their previous generation.

All these hints make it very clear that it would be against Apples interest to publish or even advertise these specs.

And by the way .... I completely agree with that.

Most hardware has come to a point were it is fast enough for everything.
If you experience bad performance, it's mostly about software these days.

(I'm not talking about encoding video, just daily mobile use.)

Then go use a 486, tell us how it is to surf the web (If you can hack a program to let you go online using text on a dial up modem) and let us know how it is.

All of this is ironic considering how you are kissing ass to a company that bragged about 64 bit cpus...

If it has 1 gb ram it's under specced.

Not entirely. On paper, yes, but (compared to Android), iOS is a really efficient OS, so just like a dual-core 1.6GHz chip outperforming a 2.5GHz quad-core chip, 1GB of RAM stretches WAY farther on iOS than Android.

Then explain why so many people have crashes when loading stuff that uses lots of ram?

Or loads up too many tabs in safari?

I've never had those issues, and I'm on an iPad 4! Still 1GB of RAM, but slower all around.

Obviously more is better, but I'm saying that 1GB on an iPad doesn't mean 1/3 as fast as 3GB on a Nexus 9.

Also dont forget that 2GB of RAM doesn't necessarily mean that it will fix the safari reloading issue. That's why I'm going to just wait and see what others say first.

If you have ever used CM11 on a samsung tab pro 8.4 that has 2GB RAM u know it multitasks lightning fast and you can switch between games and browsers without reloading issues. The ram is gonna help with the fake multitasking on iOS.

its not just to help safari out but system wide can really benefit with more ram. The biggest handicap of any idevice isn't the processor or graphics power its always been the ram.

Speed isn't the issue

Completely agree on it helping system wide. If I want more RAM, that's the reason I'd get it.

But for anyone who is expecting it to fix the Safari issue, and is going to upgrade solely because it, might be disappointed still.

So when is the tear down going to take place? I can't believe someone hasn't done this already. I suppose it'll be next week then, huh?

Very curious about this. I'm very happy with my current Air either way.

I have a Galaxy Tab Pro and it does not multitask lightning fast. Web browsing is not smooth in the best of times and even with its 2GB of ram it still reloads pages, and it does so slowly because the browser benchmarks at less than half the speed of the ipad!

I think it will be when they go on sale - probably a day earlier as it could be done in Australia (time zone difference)?

I don't think you can tear down a 'review'/pre-release device - they probably don't give them to iFixit and they might also want them back or something afterwards?
