Plenty of great Android options out there.
the problem isn't 16GB on the iPhone 6. The problem is 16GB on the iPhone 6+. It's an absolute insult that they are selling a $750 "premium" phone in the year 2014. I understand that they need to make money, but this takes greed to the next level. I wish more of you on this forum would raise your voices and refuse to pay $750 for freaking 16GB. Unbelievable.

Buddy, they aren't seeking to keep their current margins, they're seeking to expand them. A 16GB phone for $750 in the year 2014? There's no damned excuse for that. They're basically forcing everyone who uses their phone for anything more intense than Candy Crush to pay $850. Ridiculous.

I love Apple, I'm a huge iphone lover. But I am not going to spend $850 on a phone simply so that I don't get stuck with 16GB. I'm just not gonna do it.

I understand the complaints but I don't agree with them. Usually get 64GB so this saved me some cash. But really, if Apple made 32GB the benchmark, how many people would upgrade for more? That hurts revenue on a high margin item. In all honesty, it's a good compromise. I save $100 on getting more storage and it appeases the shareholders.

Only way you'd have saved cash is if you didn't buy anything.

100 bucks more then the 16GB model and I get 64GB of storage instead of 32. That's really hard to complain ;)

Oh you must be new here.... this is MR and it's EASY to complain about ANYTHING!! Even complainers complaining.

I was actually surprised with no 32g (even though I get 64 when available) but to bitch about getting a 64g for what's typically a 32g price is sad. BUT if it were solid gold with brilliant diamonds all around someone would still bitch that it did't have a ruby on it.

No here is how it works:

Apple does not want you to buy 16 GB. It wants you to buy 64 Gb. How do they do that? by introducing a 16 GB standard and the next step being 64 Gb.

Why does it do it?

Because if Apple introduced the baseline model at 32 Gb at 199 or 299 (6+) then very few would buy the higher end model 64 Gb because 32 GB fullfills their needs.

Essentially what Apple is doing that they are telling you you need more storage with these devices, if you STILL want to pay less, then here is 16 gb but if you want more storage here is 64 gb. Apple ends up making money this way as a forced upgrade to a higher price.

Yup. I was hoping for a 32gb base model since Im out of room on my 4s. They would have lost 100 bucks from a lot of customers. I got another 32 for basically free. Just hoping that in 2 years I'm not out of room and need the 128 model.

I am currently using a 32GB iPhone so to learn for the same price I will double the storage was something I wasn't going to complain about. For those using 16GB I would recommend paying the extra $100 and triple your storage. Its a good deal in my opinion.

She may have a bad time with 16GB going forward. App sizes are going to increase significantly over the next year due to a combination of @3x images and 64-bit universal binaries.

I doubt it. She never listens to Music on her phone and keeping pics offloaded to a PC will keep it in good shape.

Let's see, I was under budget meaning I have a favorable budget variance. Since I already budgeted and expenditures $470 and only spent $360, the $110 favorable variance seems to be money saved. Since you just wish ribs an antagonist, I'll just let you do your thing.

'Favourable variance'. Funny.

Only way you saved money is if you didn't spend it on an iPhone.

Does it? $850 seems to have been the planned base model all along. They're offering a $100 discount over their planned pricing--which lowers their margins considerably--if you give up some internal storage.

Is it worth it? Probably not. Just like AT&T's cheapest 300MB data plan isn't worth it unless price tag is all that matters.

Again, that's exactly what Apple wants. It doesn't want to move a lot of 16GB phones. They're there for those customers who put price tag above all else. It's supposed to be an unattractive model.

Again, plenty of great Android options. Really nice phones. If you want to get exactly what you want, Apple has never been a surefire bet. They offer a few specific configurations and it's take it or leave it. They've been making the right calls 90% of the time so far.

If you don't want to pay $850 and you don't want 16GB, looks like you should buy something else.
