Base 32GB would be ideal, but as a business makes little sense. Less icloud sales, less incentive to purchase larger models, etc..

Has to be a medium somewhere.

Okay, this guy gets it. Thumbs up.

Yea that is what I was saying but more in a rant way.

Honestly i just haven't really seen anything saying this yet, albeit I haven't been on forums much lately.

Not a big enough deal to get me pissed off as people seem to get over electronics, but just seems like a joke for 16GB starting.

One day we shall see 32 on the low end!

As long as lemmings keep justifying and applauding Apple's profiteering we'll never get Apple to play it straight. But yep, 32GB should come in late 2015's base model. Comedy :D

Or maybe not, doing that would make the 64GB seems like a bad deal :)

as a previous 16GB user, I had planned on getting the 32GB version this time around. I was willing to pay the extra $100. To my surprise, more memory! 64GB was ordered.

iOS 8 is going to eat up space even if you store all your music/movies/videos/docs in the cloud. Those who wanted to buy the 32GB will be glad they got the 64GB for the same price. 16GB won't allow you to use phone fully - you'll be constantly deleting emails and iMessages to free up space, allow you to download and install updates etc.
Apple Pay, HealthKit... These new Apple features will all need space.

With the ip5s I wanted 32gb but I could not find one that way so I settled with the 16. With the iP6 I was definitely going to go with 32 which could be looked at two ways... If apple when with the 32, 64, 128 configs I would have saved $100 and been very happy but with the 64, I am spending what I would have spent in the first place but got a bonus 32gb extra.

I don't understand how someone can get away with only a 16GB iPhone...I guess if you are constantly offloading everything to your computer...I don't know not for me thats for sure!

Good ole' fashion screwing.

Keep the 16GB model at 199 and DOUBLE the 32GB model for the same price to 64GB at 299.

I know Apple is a business and this is obviously to make is seem like you are getting "more for your money" therefore convincing more people to bite the bullet and upgrade to the 299 model when they have been hanging on to the 199 model in the past expecting it to at some point become a starting 32GB standard.

Lineup should read:

199 = 32GB, 299 = 64GB, 399 = 128GB

at the current rates why not:

199 = 16GB, 299 = 64GB, 399 = 256GB ???

You're getting twice the storage for the same price as last time and you're complaining?

I think this is my bigger problem with it aside of the obvious intent of user base shift to the higher priced model.

I get that part when you look at them as a business, whether its a screwing to most or not and whether or not the competition starts at 32GB, but the usability of the phone as the apps get bigger, the components need more storage, etc., it just really limits the iPhone 6.

You're getting twice the storage for the same price as last time and you're complaining?

No, i am getting the same amount of storage for the same price actually while both other models receive a 2x upgrade.

Just to be clear.

Last time was a ripoff by reasonable standards then.
This time is a ripoff by reasonable standards now.

100 bucks more then the 16GB model and I get 64GB of storage instead of 32. That's really hard to complain ;)

Except that my gf wanted the cheapest model. It would have been nice if Apple did the decent thing and started at 32GB in that case.

Well, not exactly slap in the face with the new pricing model. You don't really need to get one if it doesn't fit your needs. The old iPhone works just as well. But I do understand what you mean.

But hey, if you invest into the Apple stock, the $100 would be back really soon. Good job Apple. Bring me some (more) money.

As Jobs puts it, "It's really hard to design products by focus groups. A lot of times, people don't know what they want until you show it to them."

Apple played the pricing game well and will surely attract more buyers to the 64GB model.

As a 32GB user I guess it'll be nice to know I can get 64GB for the same price the next time I upgrade.

Apple made the phone larger and thinner, the battery last a little longer, the wireless radios faster, the camera better, the processor faster, and added NFC.

But the storage didn't change on just the base model. SO SCREWED!

NEXT on ATT defeats ALL of these up front prices. I paid $56 online, and I am getting a 128GB 6+. I also paid $49 to get a 128GB 6. Both arrive Friday. I don't feel screwed at all.

Some of us would rather pay the regular subsidized price up front and incur a cheaper monthly rate. While I don't feel screwed at having to pay $100 extra for the 64GB, I would have also appreciated a 32GB option at the base rate. It's no biggie though; Apple is a business.

Well by now we should all know what Apple has done, basically they have made it really compelling to spend another 100 dollars on an iPhone for 4x the storage bump, but that leaves us with a very interesting conclusion in 2014/most of 2015 Apple's flagship device is rocking a baseline 16gb of storage capacity (even less actually since this includes the operating system and flash is always less than the amount listed).

Honestly, that move was just to protect/increase their margins and I don't expect Apple to not act like a business but it really shows how much they actually care about making "the best products" when basically the product is getting crippled for the fair amount who will stick with the $649 baseline iPhone.

So if you want a great experience of not having to constantly shuffling a balance of apps, music and videos/photos and freeing enough room for those software updates you have to pay another 100 dollars to feel like you have the "best products".

Kool-Aid not being drank, also app sizes are getting bigger and bigger every year so literally are losing space every time you update apps..

Should of just admitted you are raising the price of the iPhone by 100 dollars for it to be remotely nice to use and dumped the baseline $650 price point (but we know why they didn't do that).

From a business perspective it was brilliant. I don't see it costing them a single sale however I do see it gaining them a ton of profit. From a consumer perspective I had planned on the 32GB model and am getting double that for the same money so not complaining there either. Win win.

I can't decide... 16gb or 64.

I've always bought 16, but I realized with my 5S that it's not enough anymore. I don't even have any music on it.

So I'll probably get the 64gb 6.

People sometimes forget that Apple is a business. :)

What rate do the subsidized phones pay per line versus the NEXT'd phones?

The final amount you pay for the phone actually works out to relatively the same amount at the conclusion of your two month contract.

Coming from an almost full 32GB i was ecstatic to know I wouldn't have to pay $400 for a 64GB model.

This was great for me. I was debating spending the extra for a 64GB. When I heard 32 gone 64 in--- so happy made my decision easy

It depends. With my plan, it would be an extra $25/month ($600 over two years) and then $300 for the phone (total of $900). With Next, I'm paying $750 over two years.

I think I found out that the 10GB+ plans are where you can save a bunch with Next. With the plans with less data, the contract is about even. You just have to do the math on what plan you have.
