the only point to turning off cellular is when you're on wifi, other than that it makes absolutely no sense. pretty much becomes a watch at that point
That's not true. There are many apps that may use cellular data when Wi-Fi isn't available. Turning off cellular data can prevent users with limited data plans from going over their limits. With cellular data off, there are still many functions that work fine, such as phone calls, messages and apps that don't require internet access to function.

I'm one of those people who uses the cellular data toggle several times daily.

My problem is that I have very bad GSM data reception in my house (which I don't really care about - I use Wifi). The problem is that some buggy apps (mainly Whatsapp) decide to use cellular data in some situations even when Wifi is active. This also happens for the push notification connection (I will experience delayed push notifications) and for Siri (it will take her a lot longer to answer).

I know it's unusual to have such bad reception, but my only solution is to disable cellular data when I'm home. The other alternative would be to divert my call to a landline or VoIP line, and enable airplane mode. But that takes even longer to do, and I would miss my regular, non-iMessage texts.

So yes, I'd appreciate such a toggle in control center.

weird

No read post 31! Data roaming charge when abroad is VERY expensive. I can take my iPhone to Asia with data roaming off and still use it as a phone, to sms, and all other internet function over wifi.

It can be $10 per meg when abroad, and oddly I might want to "phone" someone when abroad. That's where you speak to people with your voice rather than using apps only. It seems to be a long forgotten function of the iPhone.

Customisability is one thing, but at the moment, all of the toggles in Control Centre are applicable to all iOS 7 devices.

Toggles like Cellular Data, 3G, Data Roaming, Personal Hotspot and so on wouldn't apply to all devices or carriers - even different plans by carriers, so Apple would need to have a complicated mechanism in place to deal with that.

True on the availability for all these in all devices currenltl.

As for a complicated method, it would not be that hard they would just need to present the toggles within the control center and settings and just allow say 5 maximum and have the selectable switches presented be based upon the available options of the device. They already know these options based upon the ipsw version, so it is not as complicated as thought.

How is this possible?
I bet so many users always turn this function on/off many times during the day, so it's need a fast access..

Do you think we can see this data cellular toggle in iOS 7.1 maybe?

Btw:
I don't need bluetooth.
AirDrop is also useless, you can share stuff via iMessage.

Why can't we personalize what we want in control center?

I really don't get this, Apple has the most brilliant ideas but I really don't get those restrictions. I hope they get out from this "close mind" condition.

That's what you get with basic Apple IOS. Why I won't upgrade and staying jailbraken. Customization (fyi, there is a toggle available to for disable/enable Data cellular). In time IOS 7 will be jailbroken and you can go this route. I'm sure a toggle will be available.

I turn off data when traveling international. I was recently in Canada and could text free (included), but data was pricey, so shut it off when not needed.

I also go to France often enough that I bought an Orange France Domino for wifi and run all my data through that, but can still get calls on my US phone number. I just shut off cellular data and avoid VZW int'l data charges everywhere in France. :)

I'm still on iOS 6. So, am I to understand it's not possible to shut off cellular data on iOS 7?!

So as the OP suggests you travel to France multiple times a day I assume... If bit there is an option under settings to do just that... Also you could put "data roaming" on off... Problem solved... :)

If you enable airplane mode you can't use wifi either...

Not true, you can, you just need to turn it back on after enabling airplane mode. Just tried it and worked like a charm (yes airplane mode will turn it off, but it can be turned on and airplane mode remain enabled).

i'm only talking about on a daily basis, not taking trips outside the country

We'll... That's new to me... Thanks for the tip... :)

It has been this way for a while and is designed as such, that way when you are in a plane that offers wifi, you can shut everything down at take off and then reenable the wifi radios without having the cellular radios "interfering" with the planes controls. (We all know this is BS as the pilots are lots of times up there making calls and the frequency ranges aren't even the same or wavelength there of to cause interference, when they can get signals but until the FAA and FCC officially changes their stance, then it remains this way.)

Yea I figured... I always thought it disables all radios...

I do at least 50 one day trips a year to another country. Typical European situation....

I understand because I find myself on that situation few times a year. But before I take my flight, I just toggle data OFF once from the settings. And then once abroad, I insert a native network sim card and toggle data back on again from settings. So in total, I use the data toggle twice, so personally don't see the need for it being on the control center.

Well why bother posting? obviously people do need to switch it off and on.

Well, maybe because in an open thread users are asked to share their opinion? And apparently his opinion is that data toggle is not needed in the control center. And to tell you that obviously people (like him) don't need to switch it off/on frequently all day.

I must have missed that opinion ;)

I dont use safari, by your logic it's worthy of removing it from the iPhone. If you are just going to make stuff up then carry on posting tripe.

Dude, no one is saying that ON/OFF data toggle is not needed. But not that much needed in a control center! I have no evidence to claim but I would bet you anything that majority of people would not even bother. Data is the oxygen of a smartphone, almost every app relies on it! I can't think of any reason (except if I am going abroad and want to avoid roaming data charges) why I would want to toggle it off!! Obviously you seem to have reasons to toggle it ON/OFF all day and that's fine, as long as you don't assume that everybody else does, and therefore it should be on CC.

You missed the others guys opinion, or shall I say the point that he was making and you were quick to bash it. He said he have not turned OFF data since 2008! He clearly was telling how much important it is to him to have quick access data toggle on the CC!!

And like wise I dont use many funtions, like bluetooth, doesn't mean they should be removed. The difference is I can see some do use.

I dont like the alarm being editable in the control centre, no post here is going make apple change it for me.

I think when Apple designed the control center they must have thought some actions that majority of people would use more frequently through the day. I don't know on what their decision would have been based. I know there is a few (like calculator, orientation lock, torch or airplane mode) that I rarely to never use. But as much as it may surprise me or you, people use these stuff just like people would toggle data. However, for my personal needs I can't see data toggle being used more then lets say....calculator.

I for one would take full advantage of this feature. I am always turning data of and on as I'm a heavy data user and a lot of times I am not on wifi.
I am always going over my 3gb data allowNce each month so by toggling the data off/on helps me save valuable mbs.

I would've liked a button for Hotspot instead of do not disturb, because mine is set to schedule. If anything, they'll probably give us the option in the future to choose from a few toggles, in a similar way to the notification centre settings.

A cellular data toggle can be useful in my experience depending on the type of contract your under with your network. if your PAYG or have a low data bundle and have to pay for extra the ability to quickly restrict this is good. however if you are on an unlimited data bundle or dont worry about the cost of data then its a bit pointless..

tbh the button in Control Centre I still cant stand is the timer one, I would much rather it went to alarms. The ability to switch them around with other features would be a great update and make it so more useful a feature.

I do turn it on and off when I don't have wifi but need to check some quick stuff, like if someone replied to my WhatsApp, Check my email or check-in with Foursquare. I'd love to see a toggle for Mobile Data instead of 3G/LTE.
