Does anyone remember a week before the iPad 2 announcement that "analysts" said it would come out till June, then september, then never. Also saying that it would be delayed sooooo long because of parts supply problems. Then boom announcement and available week later.

I'll tell you what, I'm now an analyst and I say that apple will be giving everyone 1 logo sticker and not 2 in the new device packaging.
Now just sit back and wait for it to hit all the tech blogs. :)

Ps. I'm not trying to troll and be an ass, I just think it's funny. So take my post lightly.

I have a bad feeling there won't be new iMacs until after WWDC - shipping with Lion installed. Would really like to get one now, but waiting for Thunderdome.

Yeah, I know.

You do understand, don't you, that your iPhone does not implode on its 2 year birthday, and that AT&T does not cut off your service at 2 years?

My phone is more than 2 years old, and therefore cannot work under the latest OS and many new apps don't work on it. Also, the battery life is a lot shorter these days, and I can no longer get by on a single charge for a whole day.

Therefore, the issue is that these thing are actually built to last only two years, in order to make us spend more money. This would be OK, if we would get a better product after two years.

Anyone think we could see a huge iOS event with new iPhones for AT&T and Verizon, iPad 3, new iPods and iOS5 in September?

If it wasn't Jim Dalrymple reporting this, I wouldn't believe it. But that guy is never wrong. He's the former founder of Maccentral and was Macworld's News Editor forever.

No hardware announcement also falls in line with Gruber's prediction of a major product refresh to take the place of Apple's traditional iPod refresh (since iPods are no longer very exciting) for the Chrstimas season.

Probably not. That means that iPhone sales would take away from iPad sales and iPod sales, and the other way around. Cause people want all 3 but don't want to feel like they have to get them all at the same time. Plus it wouldnt give apple sales for the rest of the year. Not to mention that you shouldn't count on the iPad 3 in september. Its not going to happen until march 2012.

bahaha love that, "analyst" is like "source" on gossip sites nowadays

Sort of relieved no iPhone 5 announcements, Im firmly bogged down into a 2 year contract.

I don't like it. My contract is not up until June 2012.

You know why I don't like it? It means come 2012 I may have to wait til September before they announce a new phone and I'm not going to want to buy an iphone 5 when most likely a new phone is months away.

I'm just not a patient person and I'd rather have the iphone 6 be ready when my contract runs out.

So yeah, this year it won't affect me but even for those of us whose contract doesn't run out this year, it could easily mean next year we are in the same boat...

I love it when people link something that completely refutes their own point. From your link:"Android's a smaller pond for apps right now."

It has caught up to iOS or close to in market share
Not anywhere near in terms of installed base, which is what matters to developers.

Please, if you're going to argue, do not distort the facts.
Indeed, so stop trolling.

It's not the hardware part of that device that is interesting, it is what it brings to Android, namely, Playstation Suite Framework.

True, but I am not overly thrilled about a bunch of PSOne ports (tbh). I am interested in seeing what kind of 'synergy' this framework will provide with the NGP though...

I'm guessing you have the iphone 3G since you say your phone is more than 2 years old.

Your arguement is flawed... the iphone 4 is a much better phone than the 3G (I went from the 3g to the 4 last year. I liked my 3g, I prolly wouldn't have been too sad if I couldn't update to a 4 last year but i did cause I could and the 4 had advertised pretty much improvements on everything I thought needed to be improved on the 3G).

No way in hell would I want to go back to a 3G now. I'd be miserable after using the 4. If nothing else, forget the better camera, the better GPS, nicer screen, gyro for more accuracy, compass, video taking ability, more storage space... the speed alone makes it a far better phone (The 3G was getting laggy even under iOS3).

So they did give you a better product after 2 years. Definitely good enough to justify upgrading to.

The iPhone 4 is dated. It has a single core processor, just 512 MB RAM, the screen is too small and it does not support 3.5G / 4G networks. The only spec of the iPhone 4 that is not out of date, relative to similar phones, is the screen resolution. The iPhone 4 is in its winter of life; not in its summer. This is not a bad thing, it is the nature of technology.

I don't have anything against the iPhone 4, I have one myself. But looking objectively at the technical specifications of other phones sold now, I have to say the internal design is dated.

the screen is too small? since when is bigger better? especially on a phone, the iPhone feels just right in my hand, i've tried phones with bigger screens and they're just not comfortable to use. you want a bigger screen, go for a tablet. as for 3.5G / 4G networks, they're not even that widespread yet, i wouldn't even be bothered if a new iPhone this year doesn't have it either, but next year i would expect it, when it's more commonplace.

plus specs are just one aspect, yea some android phones have better specs on paper, but just don't seem as good, mostly due to the OS not dealing with it right. a good phone has a good all round experience. i can have an all singing all dancing high spec phone, but it's crap if the OS doesn't utilise the high specs, manage them well and just run good all round. Thats why i prefer the iPhone, deccent specs and a great user experience.

Makes sense. They can release hardware at any time.

The iPhone 4 is already dated relative to other phones on the market. To have a phone on the market for 18 months without an update is insane.

Completely agree. This would be very disappointing and bad news for Apple. If this is true, I think they're getting a bit too cocky with the iPhone.

I am waiting for the new iMac for ages and now. It would be a big disappointment if they wait till September or later. If there is no iMac in the end April, I give up and buy a new system with Windows 7. Buying a old i5 / i7 model is buying old stuff. :(

I'm hoping this means new imacs and mac mini's coming before the WWDC, with free upgrades to Lion....

I'm hoping for the same thing. i been saving for a refreshed line of 27" iMac Quad-Core with Lion. Also because of that I'm glad the iPhone 5 being delayed til the Fall because I planned on buying that too (hopefully 64GB ) It'll give me more time to save for both items pay both in cash no credit.

And get a shatter-prone phone with antenna issues?

No thanks -- I'll hold onto my 3GS (which can survive a drop and doesn't lose signal when I hold it) until Apple decides to make a proper phone again.

dont believe everything you read on the internet pal.

had my iphone 4 since august last year, not a single dropped call experienced since.

Interesting link, but that only refers to the revenue for a single Mobile MMORPG game. And MMORPGs are very much geek driven, and thus more likely to be self-selecting of Androids. And hard core gamers are among the few groups proven to spend money to get the latest tech.

Let's see when the Angry Birds types of games, or productivity apps, or general purpose consumer apps start generating more income from Android than Apple. That was the point of the argument that your anecdotal evidence only slightly answers. The big picture is still Apple by a mile.

I love it when people link something that completely refutes their own point. From your link:"Android's a smaller pond for apps right now."

You're right, I'm wrong, I'm sorry for ever having doubted Apple's supremacy.

Let's see when the Angry Birds types of games

Hum ... ?

Again, tipping point. We're there.

Of course, the Android version is free and ad supported which does help, but it is only 0.99$ on the App Store.

The iPhone 4 was a real refresh considering it was the first redesign in 2 years. The 3Gs was a smaller refresh than the iPhone 4 yet you still own one.

The iPhone 4 was more then a refresh, it was a complete redesign. 3GS was a refresh.

all this is, is another BS rumor. 1 Apple wouldn't release a new iPhone without a major software upgrade (what's the point of having a new iPhone if it doesn't bring any new features to the table?) iPhone 4 is still a awesome device - don't compare iPhone 3G to 3GS
2. Why would Apple release a MAJOR iOS update in fall, without a new iPhone??? If the iPhone will be delayed, it'll be because of the iOS - so if the iOS 5 comes out in fall, iPhone 5 will come with it...... simple...

I know all about 4. I bought one for my wife, since she needs the video camera every day. While it does have many superior features, if features were all I cared about, I'd be on Andriod for sure. It's disappointing in design and build. The shape (especially the square, sharp metal edges) is such that it begs for a bumper or a case, which was done for no other reason than to make us spend more money and design-wise is pretty lame. Glass back? Woo-hoo... wait what? Give me a break. No wonder we are hearing rumors that crap will go away in 5.

Still, I was prepared to forgive all that for color white. That look (especially combined with a blue or orange bumper) pretty much justified all the other design decisions. But.. guess what... its' still not out.

Now, I understand that my gripes here are personal. But they are valid, and I do have the right to complain or praise as much as anyone else. And I am probably not alone.

The Android market in a nutshell. People don't want to shell out dough, so the developers allow Google to spy on them instead.

As I said, when we see the overall sales market (not the free market) for Android start to rival the Apple market, you've got an argument. Until then it's going to be anecdotes and apples-and-oranges comparisons.
