Happy where I am with the technology Apple provides me, and personally I came from Verizon so couldn't be happier with my iPhone and 3g from AT&T.

If you don't like Apple or AT&T switch but for the love of all things techie stop coming here and posting BS like Android.

On June 1 2010, AT&T CEO Donovan had this to say in his online company column:

  • "And we finalized plans to further upgrade 3G network software beginning at the end of this year, moving to HSPA+, which will offer another 3G speed boost when paired with Ethernet backhaul"

and before that, on May 18, he had said:

  • "We're now ready to announce the next step in this process: late this year, we plan to upgrade our mobile broadband network to HSPA+, the next generation of our 3G platform."

.
Must be summer vacation. Way too many rude, ignorant and immature posters all of a sudden.

Must be summer vacation. Way too many rude, ignorant and immature posters all of a sudden.

Coming from you that's a bonafide joke.

This thread would be better suited for here.

It's the same circular argument someone brings up with the release of anything: "Why didn't X company support now what is supposed to be out next year?"

And it has the same answer every single time - because there is no reason to support it now.

Why Pared is being so hostile and immature is befuddling. HSPA+ is coming to certain ATT markets before the next iPhone revision comes out, and the OP is just disappointed that Apple did not elect to include HSPA+ compatibility. This is not an Android fanboy thread, this is not a needless complaint - it's entirely legitimate, even if you don't think it's important to you.

The OP also brings up a valid point in that the iPhone was equipped with HSDPA before ATT supported that standard. After 6 months ATT started upgrading their data speeds and the 3GS supported it (at least download, not upload). There's nothing wrong with wishing for the same with the iPhone.

Like applemax already said, not everyone lives in the US with "limited" networks.

The OP and everyone who thinks the same, has the right to wish for something that would last them for years and not have them "stuck" here in the present.
I'm sure many others would like to use the iPhone for many years, because I know I will.
So I'd also like my iPhone to be future-ready and not be a out-of-date phone just after half a year or something.

No transporter on Iphone 4... Disappointing

I'm pissed because it didn't come with the Star Trek-like transporter feature. I was hoping you could launch Maps, tap on the location you want, then hit the Transport button and it'll take you there instantly.

No idea, the only guess I would make are that other carriers in the world don't have an HSPA+ network (correct me if I'm wrong) and Apple doesn't want to waste its time on just one network.

You're old enough to be most of our grandparents and yet your comments are indistinguishable from those you are mocking. Take above comment as an example.

Seriously, what's wrong with you?

I have another question for you: for a big time "programmer" such as yourself, why waste your time posting snarky comments like us "kids on summer vacation"? Grow up, maybe?

Stankey has long been vocal about his belief that LTE won’t be ready for the mainstream until 2014, and said today, “The vendors are experiencing some challenges on certain features and software, and first implementations in 2011 will be…pretty vanilla.”

Why should apple put support for a radio technology that hasn't been proven yet, and that would most likely be in it's infancy in 2011 where chips would most likely be power-hordes? People who buy a phone now will be ready to take advantage of this tech in a year and a half's time.

there is no rush.

iPhone 4 has 802.11n, is that not the 5ghz band?:confused:

No! And as the Tech Specs page on apple.com says: "802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi (802.11n 2.4GHz only)". So no 5GHz, only 2.4 :( Very disappointed, too.

And as for HSPA+.. just because AT&T doesn't offer higher speeds than 7.2 Mbps it doesn't mean others don't.
In Europe we have and my provider have 21 Mbps network so it's a big disappointment to not be able to use this fully :( C'mon Apple! Tighten up!

This board is filling up with a bunch of children. Why is there so much hostitlity when it comes to someone pointing out a shortcoming of the iPhone? I don't think jesus christ designed it therefore it is not perfect.

The OP was not even bashing the iPhone he was simply asking why didn't it have HSPA+ Now if some of these want to be brainiacs paid attention to things. AT&T did announce they were rolling out HSPA+.

Also someone mentioned that no one us using HSPA + well T-mobile is and yes i know they are not a big a AT&T. But Size doesnt matter in this case. Anyway i'm thinking about not coming to this board anymore because it's very hostile and it's pretty much like if you disagree with the Status Quo you get a whole bunch of drama.

I can't believe people actually act like this. Some of you guys need to grow up and i know that may be a stretch for some.

FYI HSPA+ Gets speeds that can battle LTE so i can see why someone would wonder why it's not in the iPHone.

I wonder if the iPhones for Europe or Asia will be any different than the US ones ?
Because the US isn't as advanced in their network as Europe or Asia, so I don't think Apple bothered much to "change" anything. :(

Way to pull down people who already have those advanced networks :(

PS: There are people like these on every forum, so after some time it's endurable lol and easy to ignore too, until the spam starts <3

The comment from OP is: AT&T is rolling out HSPA+ by end of this year, and he is disappointed that Apple did not include support to HSPA+ in the latest iPhone.

Most of the responses to his comment including my own is that AT&T does not support HSPA+ at this moment and therefore it is premature to make above comment, and I went further in my response and pointed out that the basis of OP's comment is relying on hearsay as shown in the links he provided. I also provided an argument that if the plan to rollout HSPA+ is finalized, why isn't there any "direct" announcement, but rather bunch of third party quotes.

Yawn...

Instead of flaming the OP, you should probably know that the USA is not the only country on this planet, and AT&T isn't the only network that carries the iPhone. There are many, many, many more networks around the world that carry the iPhone - and they also use HSPA+.

And as for HSPA+.. just because AT&T doesn't offer higher speeds than 7.2 Mbps it doesn't mean others don't.
In Europe we have and my provider have 21 Mbps network so it's a big disappointment to not be able to use this fully :( C'mon Apple! Tighten up!

This. There are many carriers supporting HSPA+ now. Some peoples think they live in the center of the world and AT&T is the only one carrier on this planet.

*cough* Evo 4G *cough*

What's one thing that's worse than an Apple fanboy? A Google fanboy. Please tell me how that 4G coverage of Sprint's network is working out you?

I do think HSPA+ would be a nice feature but not necessary considering that AT&T can't get their crap together on the 7.2 mbps 3G network rollout. Haven't seen it yet. That's what disappoints about features the network can't or won't support.

If AT&T followed through with their original public ramblings about launching 21 Mbps HSPA+, then (theoretically) you'd hit your 2GB monthly data cap in just under 12.7 minutes.
