Video on a 2006/7 Mac mini is possible! That is how good these machines are, BUT the data transfer by USB 2 is an insurmountable bottle neck when using themes or effects in iMovie. The only way to manage it is to edit as much as possible without themes, optimisations or effects until the end (as you might know). Are pro applications on an old mini useless(?).

At this point, USB 3 would do it - and a flat screen (baby). Thunderbird is out of my range - a dream from a man (all due respect) who can not now change his mind. Everything else rocks, or could be bumped up without anyone being the loser. Can someone tell the new CEO, to "... count the beans and get on with it!"

Take my cash (that is hilarious)!

Some of you guys are hilarious. I guess we're in for a wait, while these guys screw up their chance for world domination.

The only thing "announced" is ML is definitely tomorrow.

Based on that analyst report of the manufacturing though, it's likely they planned new iMacs for tomorrow and their new screens defeated them.
Right. I didn't mean announcement, I meant latest rumor.

Not to feed the fire, but the Apple Store in St. Louis is reporting the top model of the 27" iMac won't be available til July 30. First time it's dipped down in several weeks.

It most likely means nothing...

No, probably just means that everyone is getting new batches of the iMac then.

time to enter wait mode... zzzzzz!

I'd love to be able to play BF3 on a computer but I'm springing for the 21-inch when they come out and I doubt it will be as smooth as my 360.

Plus I'm already at colonel service star 17 with 178 hours logged and nearly every assignment done. Would not want to start over. :p

Haha good point. I'm on PS3 and have a good amount of unlocks so I'd feel the same.

I still feel your 21inch iMac will look better than the console versions if we go Bootcamp Windosw 7!

what every corporate company that doesn't ? apple streamline their suppliers, buy a bulk of memory at a price, deliver products straight from the factory, etc.. they buy cheap and sell it at a max price = profit

but my judgement is based on apple range of products portfolio, most of them are a winner to me, that's why i'm convince they care about their customers.

So you are actually suggesting that having a "good product lineup" is proof that a company is putting profits 2nd or 3rd on their priority list?

I can't wait to hear you explain this.

You realize this is business PR 101 to claim it's all about the customers and not the profits....

but please, do go on blindly believing in Apple's benevolence. Why not contribute your extra money to them, instead of the usual charities, so that they can go forth and create even better products for the world?

Here is the way I look at it, in the context no imac 2012 = apple losing money. they have the iphone, ipad and apps business to subsidize (if ever they lose money regarding the mac sales). now they are in a healthy position as a company (70bn in the bank, more money than the US government), which mean they can take their time to develop products, they are in no rush to make a lot of money to save the company (ex:nokia, rim)

Now here is a simple logic, Great products = profit (ipod). bad products = lose money (powermac cube g4, and maybe apple tv). like steve jobs always said, people will vote with their wallet, if it's a good products people will buy (i'm thinking of buying apple tv just for airplay mirror in ML).

Good / great products is a broad term, it has to have the right mixture such as : good experience, good design, timing, marketing, etc.. the whole package.

a good product lineup will make money, it is a given.

You have to see objectified where they interview jonny ive, you can see that he is a very passionate and obsessive man, especially speaking about design.
Now I don't know the guy personally, but seeing him in apple video and the movie. I genuinely believe he is speaking the truth about making great products.

so, there's my take on it.... take it as you will.

cheers
