Unless the report of "screen lamination issues" is true which could easily push the date back to September or October.

well screen lamination issue, can't be of the exact same screen as we have now.....they can't suddenly not manage to make the current screens. So, that at least means better screens in some way, anti glare, retina or whatever...which is more than a spec bump IMO.

--------------

would be funny though if out of the blue tomorrow we have new simple spec bumped iMacs - and all the claims and analysts just got screwed over by apples double down secrecy :D ..wishful thinking I guess.

I think it's a similar design as the rMBP to reduce glare. There's a big difference from 15 inches to 27 inches in a production line.

I think the hurdles are still too great for 27" of Retina this year. The issue they'd be referring to is the new anti-glare process, which I'm extremely interested in.

I live in the UK, we have rougly 18 days of sunshine in the year. So whilst I understand the attractiveness of the anti-glare filter, my own preference would have been for a refresh asap BUT hey, that's just one guy. Doubt if apple give two hoots about what I need.

I get bad glare on my 24" just from the overhead light in the room.

Thanks to David Cameron and Prince Andrew, the brits are no longer allowed to run unnecessary carbon wasting devices such as overhead lamps.

How are you feeling about the delay by the way? if you are anything like me, it's a weird feeling of resignation and giving up! If the mac minis get refreshed tomorrow, I may look at the spec that will allow me to get my hands on the best combination possible of dedicated GPU and SSD. Unfortunately need at least 0.75terra which will be too expensive on SSD and with only 2 slots available in the the mini, I can't have HDD, SSD and GPU so something's got to give. Just haven't decided what yet. You know your GPUs, what, to you would be an acceptable minimu GPU to take the mini close to the entry iMac?

Bummed about the announcement, but I'm glad that if I'm waiting there will at least be more than a spec bump.

Must resist the urge to nerd rage.

If I had any inkling this would happen when my tax refund check came in March, I likely would have gone in on a 27" BTO with SSD & 2GB 6970m. But at this point, in for a dime, in for a dollar. I want the anti-glare screen, I want the probable 680M, and I'm prepared to wait as long as I need to.

My iMac is my gaming machine. I'd be shocked if a new Mini had anything better than a 650M. Anything short of the 680M from Nvidia's Kepler offerings has performance below the current iMac's 6970m. And I don't particularly want to drop a grand on an ATD, particularly since I couldn't hook up my Xbox to it any more successfully than I could hook it up to my iMac (i.e. not at all), and my Xbox's 32" LCD wouldn't make a terribly good monitor at 1080p. So I just don't see the Mini as an option.

By the way - the 640M is the popular card showing up in wannabe all-in-ones, and wouldn't be a bad choice for the Mini. And it doubles the performance of the 6630m in today's mini. 650M is another 20-25% better than 640M.

You need to move out of Liverpool, that's your problem, plenty of sun down here.

Can't upvote you enough. This is PRECISELY my situation. I've waited this long, like hell if I am buying a 2011 iMac now.

I'm not a gamer so prob don't need the biggest GPU punch but having worked on the minis server 2011 with the integrated GPU, even the light video editing work I do left something to be desired. Rendering was almost as slow as my old 2007 MBP. As it stands, I am torn between having to choose 2 out of 3 between SSD, dedicate GPU and big enough HDD. Having used SSD on my 2011 MBA, the SSD is the deal breaker for me. If i can get SSD of up to 768 GB for less than £400 BTO then I may not need the HDD. By the sounds of if, if I can, should also upgrade to the 650M and then I would have a decent machine for a couple of years although a bit short on storage for my future needs. Have a decent display already (was going to have two screens with the new iMac but can't wait any longer)

If the speed you're used to is the Intel 3000 HD integrated in the mini "server", just going to the Intel 4000 HD integrated will make a huge difference. (Not that it would approach "good" though.)

I can't wait to see the difference from the 9600M GT in my 2008 MBP. I think I'll finally be able to play Starcraft 2!

Haha. . .I can't wait to play BF3 on an iMac 27 with upgraded graphics card (maybe it'll be 4GB by then! )

"We are also really looking forward to the amazing new products we’ve got in the pipeline.” bla bla bla

I'd love to be able to play BF3 on a computer but I'm springing for the 21-inch when they come out and I doubt it will be as smooth as my 360.

Plus I'm already at colonel service star 17 with 178 hours logged and nearly every assignment done. Would not want to start over. :p

Announcement ? What announcement, official ?

The only thing "announced" is ML is definitely tomorrow.

Based on that analyst report of the manufacturing though, it's likely they planned new iMacs for tomorrow and their new screens defeated them.
