Interesting the different experiences of everyone. Personally iOS 18 has worked fine for me. A couple bugs until the first minor release for me. Overall, much better than the best Windows version. But I know everyone has a different mix of what they use reflecting their impressions.

I wish that was my experience. I encounter bugs on a near-daily basis that interfere with my ability to perform a simple task. Today that simple task is transferring a podcast from my iPhone to a HomePod without it starting over at the beginning.

It's exactly the kind of bugs I remember in the Windows ME/Vista days.

The release name is FAR from something I really care about, but I do find it a bit odd to lock one's self into a 12 month major release cycle. I know that's been their pattern but the true nature of new features being ready doesn't always follow the calendar well, so nice to be flexible.

iOS 26 will obviously be better that iOS 19, but 26 is higher than 19. Just like 11 is louder that 10

This is 100% a bogus leak to burn a source.
Possibly, but it does make some sense to link the OS update number to the year it was available. If it is a trick by Apple to identify a leak, it was a clever one that from a logical perspective could be something Apple might do at some point in the future.

Will the A18, C2, M5, R2, S11, T3, U3, and W4 also become the A26, C26, M26, R26, S26, T26, U26, and W26? Go all in, Apple!

Is there a chance I’ll be upgrading to a 26 Pro and not a 17 Pro this year?
I know there is a market in China where you can buy an iPhone 25 new in sealed box with 8K screen and 200 MP 100x Super Zoom. It does run Android 10, however.

that could very well be, didn't Gurman himself say something about Apple to be more secretive going forward?

The thought I had was that either this is a leak to discredit Gurman, or, it is a leak to not surprise us too much at WWDC
But, if the former, he would just comment "Apple changed its plans last minute ..."

So they're basically copying Samsung and Microsoft with hardware and Windows, respectively.

Car companies do this too, and probably others.

Also current Windows is Windows 11, is it 2011 again? Windows stopped doing that a long time ago.

Real philosophers…. Instead of thinking about the state of their software they run meetings to decide how to call it.

I really think they will turn into the next Nokia and Kodak. It’s just matter of time but the writing is on the wall.

Also, they will call it 26 instead of 25 because 26 is when you get the feature they announce in 25, maybe.
