That might be unpopular but I kinda miss the times when we had only 2 iPhones to choose from like iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
Now it'll be like 18, 18e, 18 Air, 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max and 18 Fold - 6 iPhones from one generation.
It's Tim "Cooking" .. with the chefs hat and Excel spreadsheet loaded up on his desk.
Surely you mean a Numbers spreadsheet.
The pro max is currently the more desirable model. I don’t think that one is going away any time soon. Fold is a different beast for it to be considered a replacement.if those are not interested, what to say about the iphone SE or base iphone model users that is 3-4x cheaper ?!
i think those pro max users will be more inter since they spend more and want/are ok with a bigger phone
Pretty hilarious how the usual negative commenters believe a strategic move to *delay* a product launch by six months is "penny pinching." Apple knows the base model doesn't drive the demand like the Pros, so give the people what they want and save the plain models for the spring when it's slow. It's not difficult to understand.
This is the way.I’m keeping my 14 Pro for another year. Apple can shove their incremental, overpriced, barely-upgraded garbage.
Makes the upcoming iPhone 17 kinda attractive, because it will likely be marginally more impressive than usual (to plan for its longer lifespan) and because it will be the latest, current model for 18 full months.
If the shoe fits, wear it. *looking at you*Perhaps consider making your points without leading off with comments about other users on the forum?
It's unnecessary and detracts from points being made afterwards.
Good rule to follow as much as possible is: Talk about topics, not other users
They could just give the iPhone 18 a 3nm chip from last year. Honestly, they should introduce the newest, latest chip in the Pro models every year and then let it trickle down to the non-Pro models the next. That would be the way...This is likely due to concerns over TMSC 2nm volume not being ready to support the full iPhone lineup by fall 2026. I would expect the M6 MacBook Pro to get pushed to 2027 as well.
It would not surprise me if this becomes a new trend, with each chip upgrade becoming increasingly more difficult to ramp up.
Who has ever forced anybody to upgrade? I'm running a 12 Pro Max myself, but I hold no particular grudge against Apple for their annual incremental upgrades. Has always seemed silly, and is obviously harder and harder to introduce features worthy of an annual release in the last number of years.I’m keeping my 14 Pro for another year. Apple can shove their incremental, overpriced, barely-upgraded garbage.
If you don't want the Pro, you buy the current base iPhone - why on earth would this push anybody to an Android phone?I can see why Apple might push the iPhone 18 and all subsequent base models to spring release schedules but this could also be a huge mistake for them. The people who don't want to shell out for Pro models could easily buy a cheap Android device instead. It will also open the company up to further claims of elitism and only making products for the wealthy.
It's a risky move.
Apple is a publicly traded company with shareholder returns being the only thing that matters - that's by definition. Apple has always been a financially driven company. As many of us have noted..
Apple is now mainly a financial engineering operation.
I miss having an iPhone option that isn't "big, bigger or huge"
Amazing to think we may have an 18, an 18e, an 18 Air, an 18 Pro, an 18 ProMax and an 18 Fold
...but not one single option for those of us who want something smaller than a 6" screen.
They won't be doing annual updates to the chips either. They could just give the iPhone 18 a 3nm chip from last year. Honestly, they should introduce the newest, latest chip in the Pro models every year and then let it trickle down to the non-Pro models the next. That would be the way...
It's hard to fault Apple on this. It makes sense for them to increase their bottom line and it's not remotely as though they are forcing consumers to buy the premium phones. Companies can't babysit consumers that may not have any self control to wait a little longer. And for those that can't wait but are on a budget, buying the prior year pro model is a great option.Greedy move to upsell more Pro/Air phone to consumers who would have bought the cheaper regular model instead. FOMO could be powerful.
Smart from a business standpoint but m not very consumer friendly ngl

Not if it means those would-be buyers pick up a Pro model at a higher price instead.
