No Keynote :( IN the last keynote there was new product announcements just that whole intel transition thin. Now there wont be a keynote at Paris Expo
Damn.

I guess you are right iGary, it is sage to buy PowerBook. Too bad, they have allready past it avarge time between updates on MR's Buyers Guide

Makes you womder what's going on behind closed doors? They seem to have gone to a lot of trouble to arrange this and then cancel it, they launch a major Mac mini marketing campaign then cancel it, I get the feeling something is going on that is effecting their oprerations in a major way.

If it were some huge breakthrough they'd still launch planned products, wouldn't they? They're paid for so why not?
Unfortunately it's more likely that they've hit a wall in developing whatever they had planned or in their supply/production chain that means they know they can't deliver on the promises they were about to make. My best guess would be production/supply chain problems, have they fallen out with anyone in China?

Very good points.

They could have troubles with IBM?

If there's not going to be any new Powebook updates I'm going to be PISSED off. At least everyone caught the news early on instead of waiting till the 20th and WTF happened (no keynotes or new products). I'll wait until the 20th but after that if there's no new PB's then I'm just going to go ahead with my EOS-20D upgrade.

Makes you wonder wtf is with Apple these days, they put out the Mini campaign and now its cancelled, they cancel the keynotes in Paris. How can Apple survive till the transition if they keep announcing and canceling things?

Didn't Apple cancel the entire new Switch ad campaign just recently? It was already in production and had probably cost a lot before being cancelled.

[sarcasm]

Maybe Apple cancels the switch to Intel too.

Hee hee, I can just see it now....

Apple Computers: Your Life.... Cancelled.

Just trying to avoid a flamestorm if hidden sarcasm didn't work. ;)

Anyway, this thing sucks. I'm working only 80km west of Paris, so I'll go to Apple Expo anyway, but that genuine Jobs-note was the only reason I was really excited about it. I was going to be there @ 8am to get to the best seats.

I wonder if this Keynote has been cancelled all of a sudden. If so, then something is going on, and Steve's probably not happy.
Maybe the accomodation and pre-registration of the MWP Keynote (why do I always spell it with a capital "K"??) is done kinda automatically, and later cancelled if there is "not much for Steve to say"....
Can't really imagine that....

But I can't find articles relating to Steve's abrupt cancellation of the Keynote, just that simply there isn't one.

They seem to be doing pretty damn well with me still buying products with no care if there is an update or not :p they will survive fine, obviously.

If Steve is going to say that at MWSF 2006, then we'll be in for a super-year!

:D

"The year of HD":
- High Drama
- Huge Disappointments
- Hard Drive?

- hopeless developements
- huge debts
- huffy developers
- hideous descisions
:D :D :D

Hmmmm,

Mac mini 30 day trial abruptly cancelled at the last minute, Paris Stevenote cancelled at the last minute....

...I sense a disturbance in the force.

Not to mention cancelled iPod campaign, cancelled switcher campaign.... and I'm praying that the abomination of a mobile that's been touted is not the 'RokR Apple Moto phone.

Too many back-steps and mistakes happening and they are major mistakes. Cancelling the Stevenote after all the logistical organisation and promotion, for some limp-wristed 'Apple execs will be present...' line, is bad news. It's bemusing.

Something's not right here...

- IBM can't meet G5 targets
- Apple switches to Intel
- Switch campaign aborted
- Mac mini trial cancelled
- Paris Keynote cancelled

Maybe the RDF is collapsing?!

Bare in mind, that the Mac Mini trial wasn't just cancelled, it was actually launched and then cancelled. It got reported on and publicised all around the world and then they pulled it.

From a wider perspective, these cancellations may be sound moves due to unforseen circumstances i.e, they may not have had the stock for the trial and the new products may not have been ready for the Keynote. Going ahead with them would be an easier but foolish option in this case. The harder but better decision is to not go ahead, but it takes balls to disappoint like this.

However, the mac mini trial in particular, should never have made it into the public eye. Steve's Keynote is more acceptable, but it still should not have gone to the badge delivery stage (just binned mine), before they cancelled it.

Whatever it is, it smacks of a company not quite as in control as it should be, especially at a delicate time such as the current 'transition' period.

Campaigns pulled and badges binned, looks like a PR nightmare to me. Waiting for iGary to start sobbing as all that lovely apple stock begins to go down rather than up!

?!?!

now that theres no keynote the pb question becomes even harder? i have a feeling It will be a long time before an update. but how can they have nothing? not itunes 5, not even new software. that sounds a little suspicous to me.
