I'm sure that the majority are going to disagree with me, but I think that this is a wise decision on AT&T's part. In doing this, they are drastically lowering their chances of the system crashing as well as making the people who worked vigorously at getting their preorders in happy. I would be pissed if I found that I ordered my phone nearly two weeks in advance and would not receive it until days after launch, whereas some guy who is willing to get up early and line up has a better chance at getting his on day one. If you didn't preorder, then go to an Apple store, and if that doesn't work, then wait another five days. I'm sure that you'll survive.



See that would be cool, if the fact that both places to preorder were so screwed up, that some of us could not preorder all day.

And some might say that the person willing to get off their ass and wait in queue all night rather than being "lucky" with a preorder may deserve them as much.

I was unlucky with the websites, and I am too lazy to get up, I will wait =)
 
My options are limited because I can ONLY purchase iPhone 4 at a AT&T store because I have a business account.

I think I am going to cancel my business account, so I can pick up my iPhone, then re-enable my business account on a different date. This is ridiculous.

I'm in the same boat but I think I'll just wait until they get stock in store. Can you imagine the headache in dealing with AT&T and trying to cancel your business account and then at a later time moving the thing back over? It's hard enough trying to navigate around the wretched Premier Business site to manage the account and perform even what should be the most simple tasks, like paying the effing bill. More power to you, but in my opinion that is a monster I would just let be.
 
So....its Walmart or Best Buy? I didn't think Best Buy would have any for walk-ins. Same for Radioshack.

Nearest apple store is an hour away in Grand Rapids. Is my best bet then to wait at a wal-mart?
 
Bunch of cry babies. lol. If you wanted an iPhone 4 so badly, then you should have preordered yours. If your AT&T store is lucky enough to have extra, then so be it, but don't get bent out of shape and blame AT&T for this. Nobody knew that 600,000 orders would be placed on a single day. That is 10x more than the 3Gs.. and maybe AT&T just didn't expect that and the servers couldn't handle it. Its just a phone.. Quit crying and bitching over it. You'll get your damn phone soon enough. Just relax and live your life.
 
Well put it this way... I canceled my reservation at the Apple Store after AT&T told me I could get a subsidy if I showed up in the store on the release date, but told me I couldn't pre-order and couldn't get it over at the Apple store. Am I allowed to be a little bit of a crybaby now? ;p
 
I spent a total of 4 hours trying to preorder on the 15th. I stood in line for one hour and my order was taken manually. Even though my order was placed before noon, it wasn't entered into the computer until the 16th because the clerk that helped me went home at 3 before the servers came back up.

My AT&T store had better hope than one of those walk-in phones they were going to sell on the 24th is mine. Because if they screw up this launch for me, everyone in that store is going to know about it. Right Nathan?
 
Where did that Italian mobster go? Maybe he would know. Would Wal-Mart be able to handle my business account? I don't want to waste my time there if they can't sell me a 4. I know that Apple Store can't handle the business account because I get the:

"Account type not supported.We're sorry. The AT&T account you have is a business account. Please contact your company's telecom manager or AT&T account manager to complete your iPhone purchase."

Anyone know?

I called a local Best Buy this evening. The person in the mobile department said they were only selling to people with reservations, no walk-ins.

some people dont have the luxury of planning their entire day around pre-ordering a phone. I had to work all day and by the time i tried, it was too late. Apple should plan for this kind of thing, they know what their fans are like.
 
Leave it to AT&T to never be far away from an epic fail.

I guess it could be smart, but really? They are the official carrier of the phone. It's their responsibility.
So instead of riding it out, knowing it could get bumpy, they wimp out and let the others take the wheel. :rolleyes:
 
I keep hearing people say stuff about business account. Do you mean accounts that you have through you business or FAN discounts. I work for Sikorsky and we get 21% off of our bills.

Will that cuase a problem at BB?

Yes, they do. They know that no matter how shabbily they treat you, you will line up to buy the newest iPhone 4. All the people ranting on here will buy the iPhone 4 from Apple or AT&T anyhow.

Does anyone know, who works for at&t or apple, if they will have white iPhone4s available on launch day for walk ins at apple stores? Or, on jun 29th for walkins at AT&T stores?

You arent the only one who had to work all day and I STILL GOT A PREORDER. It could have been done, even with the online madness and things it still could have gotton done. It is just a phone people but seriously if you wanted the phone so bad GET A PREORDER AND MAKE TIME FOR IT, otherwise don't complain because you didnt get one. Besides everyone will have one by the end of next month
 
I am totally f$cked now. I bought LG phone on 24th May and then they announced Iphone 4. ATT has 30 day exchange policy so I thought I will simply exchange on 24 June and all is good. Now this....

Also, you can only do exchange at ATT owned retail store..
I also couldn't preorder since preorders were only for upgrades and new lines...FML

I would go in tomorrow (wednesday) to a retail store and do the exchange and pre-order the iphone. You'll beat the huge crowds on thursday. True you'll have to wait longer to get the iphone, but at least it will be within the 30 days.

This is 100% TOTAL BS!!!

I went to the local AT&T store early the first day they started taking pre-orders to order mine.

They told me their "systems" were down and they would take all my information(including my CC). Later that day they called and told me by the time they could get my information into the system that there was no guarantee I would be in the first shipment and that I "might" get my phone sometime around July 2. I asked if the store was going to get an allotment on the 24th and they said, "yes". I asked what if I waited inline for a phone on the 24th could I just pick it up then. They said I could but I would be charged twice and they would just send the phone I ordered back and I would have to wait to be credited back the amount.

I told them I didn't mind waiting in-line and to make things simple to cancel the pre-order.

Well now they are saying they won't have any at the store on the 24th.

This is total BS! Thank you AT&T for proving again that you have piss poor customer service!
