I always get the newest model, but I am really scratching my head here thinking what can be improved other than ram or maybe the camera etc.

Also does anyone think there might be a new color scheme on the S? The 5 --> 5S brought space gray and gold, but if they continue with these 3 colors they will look exactly like the iphone 6. I for one would love a black model!

I wonder if they will change space grey to better match the very dark color of the space grey Apple Watch. That is pretty much black.

am i the only one to think that the iphone 6 is a TWO years old device?
i mean... it performs just like the iphone 5s, or very similiar (use geekbench3 to verify)... every new generation had a performance boost over the previous.. 4s over 4, 5 over 4s, 5s over 5... but no significant improvement of 6 over 5s, WHILE ipad air 2 has over the previous generation.

in addition, ipad always have been a little more performing than same year's iphone... a little... but ipad air 2 is much more powerful than iphone 6.

i know that it might be that iphone is now so powerful that doesn't need speed boosts every year, also considering that more powerful processors require more battery etc... but above considerations make me think that iphone 6s could be the most improved "s" version over the regular... also considering that probably they will double the ram..

iphone 6 could instantly become a 2 years old device... in one year!

just my thoughts, i may be wrong...

I, for one, am looking forward to it. I wanna get myself a 6s this year. I'm currently on the 5s so it'll be a nice upgrade :)

The iPhone 6 was disappointing to many people (myself included) form a tech/system spec perspective. Certainly one of the weakest chipset upgrades since probably the 3GS to 4. I understand where you're coming from

That said, it still holds a lot of value and appeal to many people - Apple Pay, Larger screens, longer battery life, Camera upgrades, slightly improved touch ID, redesigned case (which some feel is a big improvement in comfort), much faster wifi (ac), beautiful display (retina HD), and still a bit faster than the 5s overall.

For those who had an iPhone 5s, its not really worthy of an upgrade (unless one needs the latest tech or craved a bigger screen and was willing to spend the difference for a phone that is effectively just as powerful)

However for those who were coming from older devices, or their contracts were up, it made sense to upgrade and often for them the iPhone 6 was a huge leap in terms of not only speed but also overall functionality, given that it included the 5s upgrades/features in addition to its own (most notably 64 bit architecture, touch id).

i will most probably not upgrade this year(have been upgrading every year since iphone first generation). Its time to get my wife a new iPhone. her 5s is going to be old in september.

To be honest usually by this point in the game I'm starting to get jazzed ready to upgrade but I'm just not. I think personally I have reached the plateau where my 5c does everything I need. Once it falls apart I'll probably upgrade. Who knows, if the 6s offers something I think is worthy I'll jump on it.

Cripes no. The occasional model is good for a few years but some you need to shelve within 12 months (the 6+ for example).

Agreed. The upgrade cycle will only become more compressed not less. While there will always be people who hold on to a phone for 3 or 4 years, carrier installment plans are only making it easier to switch phones, even multiple times a year. iOS and app updates will always require more and more resources.

i agree with you.

my point was not that the iphone 6 is not an improvement over the 5s under many ways, but that the 6s in my opinion won't be a minor upgrade. on the contrary, it could be the most improved "s" version...

With the watch they actually have a space black color (vs. gray).

The improvement might not have been as much as some other jumps, but it doesn't mean that it was using older hardware. The chip is newer one in 6 compared to 5s, even if it's not significantly more powerful. The jump from 3GS to 4 was similarly (if not even more so) small in that respect. The 's' models have mostly been the ones where the specs often jump more.

well, you are right, but the jump from the 4s to the 5 was quite high... double ram, 3x faster cpu (i know that geekbench is not the only way to test it, but it is a way...), bigger screen, lighter, thinner...

the 6 over the 5s doesn't seem to have done the same spec jump.. i mean, other than the screen dimension (and this is a great reason to choose the 6 over the 5s), which are the other huge improvement over the previous gen? cpu seems to be only approx. 10% faster, same ram...

i repeat, the fact may be that the iphone 5s was already so fast and smooth that no huge upgrade was necessary...
iphone 6 is really a great phone.

but i think, also considering the rumors on the net, that the next "s" version could really be much improved.. and just to recall the topic subject, i'm really waiting for september! :)

The 6 should have really added more RAM.

I have a space upgrade pending (16 -> 64GB), so if Apple really changes the resolution and adds some perks, i can wait until fall. It's not that far away. ;)

iOS8 and insufficient RAM made the iPhone 6 and especially the 6+ extremely disappointing.
Hopefully iOS9 and the 6S will right these wrongs. Really though, Apple messed up bigtime with the iPhone 6 specs. They figured a bigger screen was sufficient this time around.

Sorry but you all going to buy the 6s stop lying :D force touch, double the ram, triple core, cpu more power efficient . so performance will be over 50% over iphone 6 at least, is more future proofing. I think this will run easy even iOS12 because of the cpu and ram

I've had the 5c since it launched, and I'm good and well tired of it now. Always hated the 5 series size and form factor but my 4 was awful by the point the 5c/s came around.

Originally I wanted a massive screen, but my sister let me borrow her note 3 for a couple weeks to try out and I wasn't in love with the size like I thought I would be.

I'm leaning 6s over 6s+ barring any absolutely major hardware differences as I do like the feel of my wife's iPhone 6 in hand. The + is tempting for me for reading and hearthstone but I've don't it for years on smaller.

Ultimately I think it'll come down to memory at the price point for me, and $299 upgrade price the 64gb will far outweigh the benefits of a 16gb + model for me. I have a toddler and a new born on the way. Constantly taking pics and making home movies etc.

They would have to really blow my mind for me to get the S model. And a "new" color ain't going to do it.

1. Improved SIRI

2. Improved CPU

3. Improved Camera

4. Possibly 2 Gb of Memory

5. Possibly a better screen

6. Possibly a better front facing camera

7. Longer lasting battery

And, I'm all over this. Biggie in my opinion
