My Apple leather case still looks fabulous after 3 years. I will probably use it for another year of two, before I will buy a new phone.

But I know, this is not ecology... /s

Got mine in September, I don't mind the back of the case having a "patina" the sides have pealed very badly. I'm very active run daily exercise so maybe cant withstand the pocket rubbing?

I see some issues about the durability indeed and it does not age very well, but it is a case protecting the phone. If I were a manufacturer I would produce a protection plastic layer for the case at about 5$...

A lot of the discoloration on that case looks like it's the result of water/sweat. You can literally see rounded drip marks.
They normally should have tested the finewoven cases for that, either they didn't and that sucks, or they did and went ahead with them as is anyway?

Salt from the sweat can be corrosive. It's like what the headband of a baseball cap looks like over time if you use it for outdoor/sports activity.

I think its fascinating how many memes / slogans / put-downs apple get - cant think of any for Samsung / Sony / Porsche / Ferrari and their products aren't exactly triple A these days - they must be so jealous !

I find it amazing that people expect the item they use to protect their phones from scratches, dents, liquid etc. to not be affected by scratches, dents, liquid etc.. It's been nearly 6 months since they came out with them. Everyone's experience will be different. Did the case keep the phone protected?

That's what happens when you try to invent dodgy ass material to replace actual high quality leather only to appeal to some cabbages who get triggered by leather

Thats how innovation works. You innovate and fail until you innovate and succeed.

Silicone cases always used to peel after a good year or so. Apple cases have been too expensive and poor quality for as long as I can remember.

The fact that they don’t make leather cases anymore, which would have held up better, is a shame but they’re not going to return.

It would surprise me if these FineWoven cases remained completely unchanged for iPhone 16.
Given that it’s apple, I’m surprised they don’t try to make some sort of metal or AirPods like hard plastic cases.
They should.

I think at this point, Apple should just discontinue these cases and elevate a quality third party option in stores and online.

I don't care, the real value of this case is that is not a part of the atrocities and climate consequences of factory farming. Apple removing its supply chain from dead animals is a major win. If you really want dead skin cases you can go to a 3rd party seller.
