When do you think the iPod Touch will upgrade to a 128GB version? That's honestly the only thing holding me back. I've been wanting one for three years now, but I keep waiting for the upgrade to space.

I know where your coming from. However, being that these products have a pretty good "resale value", I'd suggest you'd consider buying what you want/need now. If next year there is a 128gb model, you can recoup a significant percentage of your money by selling your used 64gb model and use that toward the price of a new one. (Think of it as paying the full price now, but getting a generous discount on a new model in a year or two).

Why wait years to buy something, when the product with functionality you can use today is available now?

My previous comment being said, the fact that the iPod Classic was not updated, may mean that they iPod Touch will see a capacity update next year (and will eventually in a 2 or 3 years replace the classic)...

However, it is also noteworthy, that storage capacities over the past 2 or 3 years have not increased as frequently as we've seen in the past. Perhaps were seeing the curve in storage capacities beginning to level off and increase at a slower pace. However, this is the second year that 64GB has been the highest capacity iPod Touch model, so you may indeed still see an increase next year.

Yeah, I don't understand why it's going take that long to bring iOS 4 to the iPad. :(

That's the one thing that upset me today...

Because there will probably be a new iPad in November sporting a camera, a faster processor and more RAM to bring it in line with the iPhone 4 and allow it to run iOS 4.2 without getting slammed.

aTV economics work for me...
My math says I paid $140 a month for that 'free' cable box (actually, for HD, I had to pay 5/month rental), on top of 'bundled' internet.

Where do you get expanded basic cable and premium channels for free? I can't PPV unless I actually subscribe to the channel

On aTV If I watch nothing, I pay nothing...
If I watch nothing on the cable box, I pay $30/week.
Thats a lot of rentals.

I figure aTV would pay for itself in 2 months, even after paying $55 a month in 20mb DSL
Get basic cable and you can save yourself $120/month right off the bat or get an antenna and save yourself the entire $140/month.. can't really compare apples to oranges here.. pun intended. :p

BTW, a $15 antenna will still get you more channels than aTV will and your shows will be free. Now that is economics! :)

Well let's see....all app windows look and behave the same unlike oh, Quicktime X, iTunes, Documents, Downloads folders on the dock etc. When I go to the Help menu item the font and spacing is the same as the rest of the menu. Unlike OS X which sometimes gives you a spinning beach ball and sometimes a stopwatch Windows shows the same icon. The theme is consistent unlike SL which has elements of Aqua, Chrome, whatever the hell they are doing with QTX etc.

etc. etc. ad naseum.

The whole premise the Mac was founded on was the establishment of a GUI with a CONSISTENT interface, thereby to facilitate easier learning for the masses who were still plunking around with DOS command lines. Even NeXTStep was consistent. But it seems that since Steve has determined to make Apple the next Sony OS X and its design is an afterthought.

err. okay. That's what I said (read my post again). However, how do you get the content of cable premium channels without the cable?

If you want to watch 20 channels of religion and home shopping network, yep. And most of the rest is just reality tv shows. yeah, quality broadcast content.

I have the aTV (2 years old). and the antenna came free with the house. I dropped cable, as Basic had little of what I wanted. I went 20mb DSL from the local Telco (the other monopoly in town... There's wireless at the curb here in MPLS for less, but it's flaky and only goes to 6Mbps/1Mbps... 20 seemed better for a 2 working adult household.

Your solution doesn't supply me with the content I prefer... Tudors/weeds/Curb/ or any other Premium/PPV solution (btw, my cable doesn't let me PPV HBO unless I buy premium, so my example still stands.

I'll repeat: Free Broadcast, 55 for 20mb DSL, 9 for netflix, 10 aTV shows a week, free hulu for the other 10 shows (and Comedy Central for 8 moe shows). ~110 month. My last Cable bill for HD Premium(sho)/Internet/Phone was 188/month. If HBO, SHO, Bravo, and AMC come out with .99 shows, I'm good to go with my spreadsheet.

I stand by my economics, as I'm living it. You, since you didn't factor in all the factors... bzzzt. Thanks for playing.... Don, what do we have for our departing guest?

I think that is enough

I just read most of this thread and I think I've had enough whine for at least a week.

Me, I will finally upgrade my 1st generation iPod touch.
