Someone (in some thread way back when) observed that people who said they'd contacted Apple to change their shipping from standard to expedited went from UPS to FedEx, respectively. The change actually delayed shipment. Apple always sends pre-orders by the fastest means possible; that IS the 'Standard' method for such orders.
Not actually... I think it's natural to separate orders to two carriers to reduce the prices(Yes, I use your competitors' services...) and to make things moving faster in general. Put all orders to one carrier may cause delay ...

Ok my 13" Macbook is on it's way from Shanghai. Delivery Monday. I can't wait. Already know the serial number and everything. LOL :)

2.9ghz i5 / 512gb SSD / 16gb RAM

I also got a bunch of dongles just in case, and bought a ton of monoprice USB-C cables for my external hard drives and stuff :).

I'll buy the USB-C to Lightning cable a little closer to getting the machine.

Nice! I also bought myself a bunch of mono price cables haha. Take a look at the Belkin Thunderbolt 3 cable too. Supports TB3 speed but also compatible with USB-C (@ USB 3) speeds. Fair price considering Apple's current discount.

What would I use that for? Looks like two USB-C ends?

Hope all is well!

I see it more as 'future proofing'. As an example, I bought a USB-C enclosure so I'll be using this cable to connect that directly to my new machine. (I have a SSD in my mid-2009 MBP which I'll be reformatting and using as an external HD once I receive my new MBP). I found it hard to find high quality USB-C to USB-C cable and the Belkin TB does it all since it's spec'ed at TB3. A lot of USB-C to USB-C cables I found on Amazon were quite confusing (i.e. some offered USB 2.0 speed only, etc) and knowing the importance of high-quality USBC-C cables for speed/safety, figured buying from Belkin/Apple was a safe bet.

How do you know your serial number?

In the tracking information UPS, in the reference section, the serial number was there.

Maybe i'll grab a few then. :)

Of course that's true, but changing anything about a pre-order appears to put a spanner in the works most times.

Arrived today, a day early -- so far very impressed with build quality and features. Will have to wait for migration. MB15-16GB1TB460SG

I ordered a 15"/2.9/1TB/460 on October 29th at 7:01 Eastern time with a November 29th - December 6th original delivery date. I called apple and had my shipping upgraded to 2-3 days shipping and my new delivery date is November 25th - December 2nd. My order finally went to PFS yesterday morning!!!!! How long is the usual PFS time frame? As it has not shipped yet?

Not sure if I'm reading this right...
Can anyone make sense of this tracking info?

It's either in Alaska right now, or Japan....

And it looks like there is TN in the middle somehow?

Can't tell if this is just an error on the site or my macbook really did take a wild journey around the world.

Probably in Anchorage. I think the different time zones are causing the stamp to be displayed in non-chronological order.

Mine "shipped" a day and a half ago, but as far as I can tell from FedEx tracking, it seems to still be in China.
