Decisions. I guess because the screen is still “technically” the same size of a plus screen it’s like Why not. Even if you don’t open up a package do you still have to pay the restocking fee?

That’s exactly how I’ve been feeling. In fact. That’s the reason why I love my AirPods. Easy to travel with simple case no wires to get annoyed with. I mean this is literally why I’m probably going to stick with the xs
The screen is NOT the same size though, trust me. I was sold this bill of goods last year when I went to the X. It feels SO MUCH smaller than a plus phone. The "usable space" makes it feel like an iPhone 8. The X is pretty, but its small. There is just no denying it. The aspect ratio is so different.

No, I don’t think so. My hands are small enough that I was using the X with two hands most of the time so I had already made the adjustment. If anything, typing on the XS Max is easier.

Also you can make keyboard smaller in Max, I changed it first time and I really liked it.

Had my max since Friday, not sure if I like the bigger phone. Kind of miss the size of the X. I’ll see if it grows on me. Hate to lose money for the restocking fee.

I switched my max to the xs. Always had big phones with my last being the pixel 2 xl. Going to a smaller has been awesome for me. Can't remember the last time I was able to use a phone one handed comfortably. Able to use a phone with one hand made me appreciate a phone more. The last couple years I've been going for bigger and bigger phones each year, I've forgotten how awesome being able to use one hand. I don't think I can ever go back to bigger phones now.

I went from my 7 Plus to the Xs Max. PERFECT!!! Love it. In fact, it will fit, tightly into my 7 Plus case ( of course the camera is obfuscated ). So, two years of the 6 Pus, then 2 years of 7 Plus, then the MAX.....feels right at home.

Went from a 6 to the Max. Such an upgrade. I feel like I can do so much more on the Max because of the screen size.

I ordered the XS on pre-order coming from a 7+ that arrived Friday. Sat AM went and picked up the XS Max to try both out side by side. Been forcing myself to adjust to the MAX. It is a great screen and love the extra battery life but I just can't seem to get used to it. It is just awkward size. I through a pop socket on it, tried it with case, naked, etc. I am 90% going to return MAX and keep the XS. I had no issues with 7+, it is height of MAX and having to pull from top and swipe from bottom which are much more of a stretch for me.

I went from an X to an XS Max. Didn't expect to like the size, but trying it at the Apple Store was very promising. It was a bit awkward at first but I'm already getting used to it, and really appreciating more space for content (especially reading). My primary remaining problem is the overall heft, but that's probably gonna be worth dealing with for that screen.

I returned my max today for xs. Glad to have the smaller size again. Tried to love it, just wasn’t meant to be.

No op.
If anything I believe apple has a bit of room to go bigger. Maybe a 6.8 or 6.9 inch display instead of 6.5 inches.

No.

In fact, it feels slightly smaller than my 8+.

I feel the same way. Just by a smidge....

But that screen - it's AMAZING and no it's not too large - in fact I think it's just right. Don't think I would want to go any bigger though but for my purposes is exactly the right size.

Have both side by side because I wanted to make sure I wanted the XS over the max and I'm returning the max tomorrow. I had a 7+ but the max feels even bigger due to the screen size. Very hard to use with one hand and the size/weight was noticeable in my pocket. The screen is awesome and its great at home while relaxing, but I run around too much during the day to give up easy one handed use. It's definitely harder to use than the plus due to the fact that your finger has to cover from the absolute bottom of the device all the way to the top edge (which is now used way more due to control center being top right). I could use my plus one handed, no chance with the max. Reachability is also much more difficult to activate compared to the plus. For two handed use the phone is great, but anyone that needs a phone thats remotely comfortable one handed I'd definitely recommend the XS. I'm also 6'1 and have large hands.

Additionally I didn't really feel like I benefited much from the larger screen as it doesn't really display much more due to the aspect ratio and the lack of iOS multitasking. The biggest benefit for me is the keyboard as the slight increase in width does make typing easier. I'd ideally prefer a shorter but wider phone compared to the current max.

Also no unique features to the max (I bought my 7+ for the dual camera) and the battery life gap seems smaller than ever. If they had a triple camera or something like that they could have possibly swayed me, but trying both side by side it's clear for someone that uses their phone while walking the dog and longboarding that the XS is the way to go, as its the same phone just more compact (no feature tradeoffs). The pocket bulge just wasn't a good look either. Not sure if it was the weight or maybe the fact that I'm just wearing better fitting pants (compared to when I had my 7+), but the max made my right thigh look like a brick.

Maybe future iOS updates will change my mind, but the tradeoffs for me were too great to choose the max and for me I prefer portability and ease of use for my phone. I have my laptop and iPad for the big screen stuff.

Sign me up day one for an OLED (or mLED) MBP or iPad though, these two displays are magnificent.

Try it for a few days before you pass judgement. Coming from a 7 8 8+ it takes some getting used too

I’m in this camp. Was 90% on the XS but now over 95%. I’m in no hurry. The XSM is great if you have somewhere to put it while out and about. It also is great if you use those finger things on the back of your phone. I don’t.

I have made a point to replicate some things on my wife’s X that I do on my 8+ and the ‘feel’ is way better. Yes, I give up some video size but I’m ready for that relative to managing a device with me throughout the day. It can’t just go in pockets.

Went from 6S Plus to XS MAX. Almost the exact same size. No regrets.

Not sure I understand.
You have an 8+ but feel the Max won’t fit in a pocket? They are so close to same size it makes no difference. I just posted I went from 6S Plus to a Max. Compared the sizes, pretty much the same. No issues carrying it - shirt pocket, side pants pocket, back pants pocket (don’t sit on it!).
