Apple used to take existing ideas and move them forward but this... ...this is a "me too".

I disagree. Research Kit is a significant development. They are creating a genuine use case that I would not expect Samsung or LG to have come up with (Google, yes, but they had not yet done so).

Also, we have already seen an improvement in the quality of materials the rest of the industry is using, just based on the September announcement. I'm sure we'll see more after yesterday's announcement and once the Watches are in the market.

lol now if you would do the same for the space grey sport with both the black classic buckle and milanese loop you'd be a true hero. I can't decide! :D

Disclaimer: I do not condone the matching of these combinations but if I can help a fellow MacRumorer in the decision making process... it will be all worth it.

Here you go, ajones92. Like in my disclaimer above, these mis-matching combos could be seen by a majority as a "fashion faux pas". But everyone is different, with different tastes.

IMO, with all AW Sport models, any band that has stainless steel details will look off. I realized after my original mock-up, the Leather Loop "hole" where the strap goes through is stainless steel... but hidden mostly by the strap so it's not as bad.

With that said, I think there will be a HUGE market for third-party bands to service AW Sport owners... HUGE. So huge, in fact, I'm thinking about getting into it myself. ;)

I already have a smartwatch: my smartphone.

Just take it out of the pocket and you see the time, notifications and everything. It can do much more (like take pictures and videos, play games, search the web) and has true all day battery life.

It's stupid to buy a watch for 400$ that can do the same as your phone that's always with you.

Most likely the 42mm Sport in space grey/black.

I'd like the 42mm SS with a Milanese loop or blue leather, but thst decision will be made after I see them in the flesh.

If I wasn't saving 15 thousand dollars to buy a house I'd get the black steal watch for $1100. But I'm saving to buy a house which is far more important than a watch. If I can exceed my goal this year I might buy one though.

Im honestly still not sold. Maybe after seeing one in person i will change my mind but right now im more leaning towards the moto 360 v2.0 with iso support (Android wear is rumored to get iso support)

Yep, classic buckle it is. You're right about the steel looking a bit off. But I think the leather band looks great on the sport. I was bummed about the price of the black steel but I almost like the flat look better.

Good luck with the house! You can count on the rest of us here to keep this product viable for a few generations. When you have the money to spare, there should be a great new version of this ready for you.

Laughable prices (Insane is another word). The only Apple Watch I'd consider, costs $599, how ridiculous.

Why is it that everyone thinks treating stainless steel and shaping sapphire glass is a cheap thing to do? There's a reason the sport is cheaper you know.

The Apple Watch Sport for me. I have a dress watch for work, but don't have anything for the gym so that's where it'll get most of its use.

Apple Watch (Stainless Steel with the black sports band, then I will probally get another band later.not sure if I will get the 38 or 42mm. probably the 42mm

Exactly, 99.99% of the population can only laugh and snicker, and can't afford this. This is like the original iPhone prices back in 2007, not enough value for the price. The prices WILL come down once sales don't reach what Apple expected. Laughable prices (Insane is another word). The only Apple Watch I'd consider, costs $599, how ridiculous.
Yeah the servants snickering at their masters now that's ironic...

I have some gift cards saved up, so I may very well take the plunge but to be honest, I'm having hard time justifying the purchase. I'm leaning towards not getting it.

Why?

Because I have a fitbit surge and it does nearly everything the Apple watch does. The Apple watch is more extensible, and has a better display. The fitbit has a GPS, and longer battery life.

If I buy one, it will be within the next 2 versions at least. This one is too fat and I really don't see the practical use for it (yet). The future version that I'll have I'm sure will me much thinner and have longer battery life. (18 hours for a watch?! Gimme a break!)

I had said months ago that I would get the sport. I'd only consider the stainless steel one if it was only $100 more. I did not expect it to only cost $100 more.

So, I'm getting the black 42mm sport.
