I'm planning on getting the 42mm Apple Watch Sport in space gray. I would (irresponsibly) consider the stainless steel if I could pair the space black with a black sport band, but it looks like that is only going to be available in the most expensive Apple Watch configurations including a link bracelet.

Same here, I wanted the space black with the link bracelet but of course with my luck it's the most expensive one. So now I will probably do the sport in black with black band.

I was planning on the 42mm sport with the black band but according to the Apple website my wrists are just a bit too big!

To be honest, I'd still be a bit on the fence with regards to the shininess of the stainless steel. I do love the matte look of the black aluminum, despite it being the cheaper material.

Most likely a 38mm space grey/black band for me. I hope there are 3rd party bands though. It seems like the space grey watch will be very limited (only the rubber bands will match)...

Probably the 42mm Space Gray Sport and then get a band later if I need something classy.

The watch based on the pricing. I haven't watched the keynote yet as I was at work. So I'll make my mind up after I've watched it. However the Watch fits in with the budget I'd set for it.

I will have to go to an Apple Store and try them on in store to make sure. The steel does look shiny, but we will see.

I originally wanted to get the black link bracelet version, but I just can't justify $1100 for that as a first gen product. The regular stainless w/ the milanese loop however is still within the budget that I set for myself, so I think that's the path I'll be going down. I'm just bummed that I can't even do the "upgrade the band later" route because the black body ONLY sells with the black link bracelet.

Yep I really wanted the black stainless steel bracelet, but for that price I can go ahead and buy the new macbook or something else in the future..

This beaut.

Since they've decided to make the band/watch connecting mechanism proprietary and patented, and don't make any bands that fit wrists larger than 210mm, I won't be buying any of them. The Apple website touts the watch as "There's one for everyone", but I think they mean "There's one for everyone that doesn't have a slightly larger than average wrist."

Average male wrist size is 7" - 8", absolute largest of the bands they offer fits a 210mm wrist, or 8.2".

Honest question/idea: I want the SS Space Black 42mm, but don't want the SS Space Black Link Bracelet. So I'm thinking I'll buy the watch and sell the band. Looks like Apple doesn't sell the Space Black Link band separate, so do you think I'll be able to sell it off at retail asking price ($449)? I want the SS Space Black Apple Watch 42mm, and then buy the Black (not previously announced) Leather Loop. Thoughts?

That is going to be a hard sell. Everyone who buys the space black SS will already have the link bracelet. Maybe someone with a space black Sport could buy it, but it wouldn't match correctly.

Depending on how it looks someone with the black sport may.

Edit: nm, you already said that

Not Interested, at that Price.

I was in, up to $7,500. For $10,000-$17,000 you can buy a REAL Luxury Watch...a Rolex...a New iPhone 6+ and New MacBookPro 15.4...maxed out...

These are truly for people with more money than common sense.

Kevin

13.3" 2014 MacBook Air 1.4 GHZ Core i5
27" 2012 iMac 3.2 GHZ Quad Core i5
27" 2012 Thunderbolt Display
15" 2010 Macbook Pro 2.2 GHZ Core i7
64 GB Space Gray Cellular/WiFi iPad Air 2
64 GB Space Gray iPhone 6 Plus

Of course, the black SS with black link band (the one I really, really like) is coming in at $1100. I would not spend that much on a watch. That's just crazy. So its the sport watch (space gray) with black sport band for me. I'll wait for the third party bands to roll out for a second dressier band. You can count on many of these to roll out. I can't see spending a ton on V1 when Apple will probably come out with a newer version with more bells and whistles in a year or two. Of course, they'll then crank up the price but maybe they'll reduce the price on the V1 SS models. Who knows?

I would have been in on the Edition up to $5K and possibly $7.5K, but rather than go out entirely, I've decided to get the space black stainless steel, an extra leather band, and the new MacBook maxed out, and still be ahead. :D

well i am officially out ... my last hope was a sports edition watch and leather band but the leather band isn't available for the 38 mm watch. BS

Have you considered the 42mm? It's smaller than I thought it would be.

Yeah, I think you're right. I may just buy the Sport in black + buy the black leather loop. Will be cheaper that way too.

Still on the fence somewhat about the AW... but if I had to make a choice right now...

AW Sport / 42mm / Space Gray

Besides the Sport Band, the only other band I'm interested in is the Leather Loop (for dressier occasions). I threw together a quick mock of what the Space Gray AW Sport would look like paired with some Leather Loops.

I think we have a winner.

$399 + $149 = $548... + tax and you're looking at ~$600.

Now what color???

NICE. Thank you for doing this. I think I'm giving up on the idea of buying SS Space Black 42mm and selling the band.
