Still on the fence somewhat about the AW... but if I had to make a choice right now...

AW Sport / 42mm / Space Gray

Besides the Sport Band, the only other band I'm interested in is the Leather Loop. I threw together a quick mock of what the Space Gray AW Sport would look like paired with some Leather Loops.

I think we have a winner.

$399 + $149 = $548... + tax and you're looking at ~$600.

Now what color???

Whoa that looks a lot better than I expected! hmm tempting

NICE. Thank you for doing this. I think I'm giving up on the idea of buying SS Space Black 42mm and selling the band.

You're welcome! This graphic design thing comes in handy every now and then, lol. Saved you some $$$.

Was bummed when I was reading how the AW Sport wasn't a great match with a lot of the other bands. The Leather Loops look great on the AW Sport.

This could be the sleeper combo!

Yep, this had been my thinking all day - the exact combo I am going with. I like the classic buckle, but the steel of the buckle and hinge would clash too much with the black aluminum.

Personally, this is ideal for a first gen watch - If I enjoy the user experience that much, I'll upgrade to a higher quality model next year...when that casing and hopefully bezel goes on a diet.

I'm gonna stick with my Pebble Steel or go with a Moto 360 if/when they open up Android Wear to iOS (which is being rumored).

i don't see any screws anywhere to take it apart.

apple doesn't replace batteries on iPods, or iPads either.

So they don't use ancient technology (screws) to hold the case together.

Apple's iPad service is available for $99:

iPod battery service:

The prices aren't attractive -- equal to the price of a new device in some cases.

i've worked for apple for 5 years up until recently. for iPad 1/2/3/mini's/airs, we never opened it up, same with iPod touches, and iPods. those were not replaceable. the whole unit was replaced.

This is a tough one for me, I was all set to go with a space black stainless steel model but thats $1100.:eek::eek:

I really like the space black case though, but that only seems to be available on the space black steel bracelet. The rest of the band options are paired with stainless steel cases. Bummer.

That leaves the stainless steel Watch option (sapphire glass) with a black sport band or getting Apple Sport in black (in this case the Sport version has a black case as well, so its much sleeker looking).

Hard to decide, on one hand I can get a lighter watch that's not sapphire based with the black-colored case I like, or a heavier watch having sapphire, but with a stainless steel case.

I think I'd opt for the black Sport Watch if I can be convinced I'm not going to scratch it 5 days into using it. They say it's the same glass as the iPhone, which of course I've managed to scratch too, which is why I'm hesitant.

Apple Watch Bands

If I buy the Sport Edition watch can I still buy other editions straps and mix them? Like the leather loop.... Could I use it on my sport edition?

Nope.

They basically squeeze an iPhone onto a watch sized display. Did people see how jank the interactions where? When he sent an emoticon in wechat, it literally went back 3 screens before it landed on the "message content" screen.

Too little focus, too many functionalities, and way too gimmicky

I agree. We can only hope it gets better. I'm seriously looking at the Pebble Time Steel to tide me over until this prototype measures up to what they are asking for it. Seriously, if this thing could be a stand alone text device...without needing an iPhone...kinda like a beeper...I would shizzle all over myself  ----> :D

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :p

Anyone know what the 49$ plasticstrap cost to produce in china?

If I was to buy a sport or steel model it would have to be without any strap..but that is not possible :-/
I would feel so much like an idiot spending 49$ on a very small piece of plastic... And i would be reminded everytime i looked at my wrist.

I like the watches and even okay with the prices og the watches and would buy one this year... But the wriststrap prices is the biggest F.U. Apple every said to me... I feel a little disgusted just holding my iphone right now.

None.

Bought a Garmin Fenix 3 last month instead.

One thing I found with notifications on the watch; it seemed cool for the first week to be able to read texts, emails etc but after that initial period it just became annoying having your watch vibrating every other minute, so I turned notifications off.

I want the black Apple Watch, but I don't want the band it comes with, and I am NOT spending $1100 dollars on it.

I love Apple, but these prices are wack and the choices don't work for me. I'd choose the black 42mm watch, and a black Milanese loop band - but they don't have one - so I'd have to go with the black modern band, but I'd have to buy the $350 one I don't want with the watch... A non-starter.

Guess I will look at the new Pebble... They must be celebrating today after hearing those prices. Apple just sold a ton of Pebbles.

Exactly, 99.99% of the population can only laugh and snicker, and can't afford this. This is like the original iPhone prices back in 2007, not enough value for the price. The prices WILL come down once sales don't reach what Apple expected. Laughable prices (Insane is another word). The only Apple Watch I'd consider, costs $599, how ridiculous.

$750

Stainless and leather for $750. Not even close to market pricing.

I'll be passing but I hope a ton of other people buy them
I'd think the biggest insult is $200 extra for stainless steel in small quantity. But then I see them selling a leather watch band for 5x retail average.

Still as said hope a bunch of people buy and enjoy them. For me it's not about the money it's the value. The largest problem is rubber bands in stupid colors and overpriced straps to fix it. Clearly they're recouping some lost mark up since they committed to a watch price far lower than their average return.

lol now if you would do the same for the space grey sport with both the black classic buckle and milanese loop you'd be a true hero. I can't decide! :D

I'll be getting a Sport model in 42; not sure which colour strap though?

I'm thinking the silver with charcoal straps would look good?

Yeah, I'm definitely pre-ordering ...

This will be FANTASTIC as a runner!

Can't wait.

None of the above

First let me say - I will not be buying one of these.

That said, I can't see why anyone else would buy anything other than the cheapest Sport one as the internals are exactly the same in all of them.

Apple Watch seems to be an exercise in style over substance. This watch does nothing better than the iPhone (that you'll also need in order to use it). OK so it has a heart rate monitor and you can send silly drawings to your friends (as long as they all have one too) but other than those two things it changes nothing!

Apple used to take existing ideas and move them forward but this... ...this is a "me too".

I am sure they will sell boatloads of the Sport one when it launches but I think we'll see a very fast decline in sales for this one in the future.

The :apple:watch could be Apples Zune!

You think that until you've had one (owned a pebble for a long time) and then it stops working and you go 'oh crap, I use that a lot' and that doesnt even do replys!

I know exactly what you are saying. Until I left my Pebble on the charger at home one day, I didn't realize just how much I really use it. It's there. It's on our wrists and we don't think about it until it buzzes and we see that email, dismiss it and move on. Pebble, in its wisdom is introducing a color e-ink display still with a week's battery life. The kicker is the $200 price point.

This will be a tough decision for me.
