My 2 Cents Worth...

Could someone clarify how and when the Apple Retail stores receive their marketing gimmicks (i.e. posters, literature of the new Macbooks/MBP's)? Do they receive the marketing stuff the same day they receive the new goods (in this case 14th of Oct 08)?

Also - how many notebooks does each Apple Retail store receive on a product launch (roughly)? Obviously, the goods aren't brought into the Apple Store in container loads. It's most likely that the goods are brought in by couriers i.e. UPS/Fedex. In which case, this makes me believe, that there won't be many Macbooks/MBP's or a lack of during the launch date?

To those who are saying we won't see any new products till MacWorld... I say this to you... Christmas is a PRIME time for ANY company. If they miss this, then forget it. October 14th may not be the day, although I believe we will see it definetly before Christmas - it plain silly not introducing them before then.

I'm gonna be seriously pissed if theres no MacBooks next week
Hey, what's up?

Apple is just some company making inanimate computers and phones.
And they aren't doing any harm by not announcing anything.
No reason to be "seriously pissed"... or is there?

;)

If I were a betting man, I'd say if the 14th isn't the day, it'll be the 21st. The supposed fact mentioned just hours ago that there are tons of skids of MBAs, MBs, and MBPs is just more verification of that in my opinion.

i thought it was funny that the people at the beggining of the thread thought the gpu would be dedicated. it will be nvidias intergrated gpu,duh lol.:D

Good, that is, hoping that they wont announce any sort of price cut next week to all of their computer range (if there is to be an announcement) since I plan to buy one tommorow.

Granted I have nothing to back that statement up with...

If not it will be the 28th and if not the 28th then the 4th and if not the 4th then the 11th and............. One day someone will be right.

No, in won't. The 21st is the day when Apple is busy pleasing the analysts. No time for product announcements...

What time are the invites sent out

Just had to ask if anyone knows what time the invites are sent out?.... and is that cappuccino time or GMT...

Signs of something to come ? Am I the only one seeing the above? :D

bigger is not always better

every one is saying that the aluminum makes the wi-fi reception worse my question is why can't the aluminum instead of making it worse make it better by incorporating the aluminum case into the antenna

Radio antennae work best when they resonate with the radio waves - this often means that the optimum length of the antenna element is 1/4 or 1/2 the wavelength of the radio signal.

The formula for a "half-wave" antenna is that the length in metres is 143/(freq-in-mhz) - therefore 6 cm (about 2.4 inches) is a good size for 2.4 GHz WiFi, or 3 cm (about 1.2 inches) for a quarter-wave antenna. For 5 GHz 802.11n, this would be 3cm or 1.5cm (about .6 inches).

Hooking up to the aluminum case wouldn't work well - the case is far too big.

another thing to keep in mind.

Apple's stock has went down almost 50% in the last month.. that is huge.

releasing a whole new notebook line would, in theory, cause stock price to rebound. longer they wait, the more the stock will dive.

if the invites are sent privately it would only be a 'blabbermouth' that would let us know the date so there is no guarantee that we will know a week ahead of time

ok makes sence

If invites never go out until 12 AM PST, and it takes a little while for them to leak, why are people moaning already? Nobody predicted we'd see an invite yet.
