NVIDIA Powered MacBooks on October 14th?

Some earlier comments were from people who preferred the Dell E-series to Apple laptops.

Even the old D-series has some interesting details, compared the the huge boring slab of plain metal that is an MBP.

Really, though, I studied English and writing at one of those stuffy, full-of-itself institutions of higher education whose baseline vernacular is so turbo-highbrow that every student spends his or her first two years there feeling like the biggest idiot on the planet even if s/he got a perfect score on his/her SATs. As a result, that's just how I think (and therefore communicate) now--it has become the norm for me (which is not always good, but I guess there are worse problems to have). Why? Do my words intimidate you, sonny boy?

I thought I'd chime in with some additional Ingram information.

Just got off the phone with my friend, they are still receiving Apple laptops by the trailer full, skids of them. 3 kinds, airs, MBP and some kind of MB, according to him.

They are not being released yet, they are being sorted and prepared but as of today, 11AM EST, they have not received word to let them go to the stores.

No laptops are going out so in my opinion these are not the current iteration of Apple's laptops.

Not trying to stir the pot, just sharing the limited information I know.

If I hear that they're moving out I will post.

No specs, no pics. He'd likely jeopardize his job if he tried to take photos. He doesn't get close enough to handle the individual boxes. From what I gather they come in an outer box that contains the familiar Apple boxes, he's not involved in the breakdown, he doesn't work at Ingram, only goes there every day as part of his job. But he hears the buzz, sees the stuff and knows that I'm an Apple fan so he calls. Last week what I posted in another thread was that he heard them comment that they were waiting on an announcement to release them. They've been in receiving mode there for a couple of weeks.

And bless him, he's the most technologically avoiding person I've ever met, he does not own a computer so asking for details wouldn't work too well.

So hopefully soon.

Think about it... a phone call from a friend about something... then when more details are asked... "he can't give you any information about specs because he's technologically illiterate..." Sounds like BSing to me!

People are saying the invites are usually sent out at noon. Let's just wait and see.

It's usually the people who are "Mac rumors Newbies" that created an account that day to post some BS that I never believe. I'm always skeptical but a little more optimistic in this case. You know, you're 100% right. My friend of who knows how many years is yanking my chain. No wait, I'm yanking yours. Which is it that you're stating?

Call it what you will, the guy has no interest in this stuff whatsoever but knows I do so he calls me when he sees Apple stuff moving to IM. And why would I ask him to jeopardize his job, go to an area he doesn't belong and pick up the laptop boxes to get specs?

I posted about this a couple of weeks ago, and called him this morning when I knew he'd be on his run to see if anything else was moving in.

That all being said, take my posts for what they're worth to you. I had some information and wanted to share it, in an online community it's good to be wary of what's posted so I do understand someone not putting faith in what someone else says.

Yeah, I hope new MBs come out soon. My old PowerBook died over the summer and I have been holding out for a new MB ever since. I know I'm a Newbie but still, we've all been on many a forum and know this bickering is silly.
I mean product movement is a good indicator of something new coming a week from now, isn't it?

On a separate note...
I think this idea of product leaks all ties into the idea of Apple starting to care less about leaks and perhaps (something musicians are starting to catch on to) leaving the leaks alone because it creates buzz for a product. I mean was I the only one was was waiting for "brick" details?
Though... I find that a bit Bs.... spending all that money to make something from one brick of aluminum is very expensive and has no advantages over stamping it.

What I don't understand is why people who are wary have to state that they are wary. People seem to forget that this website is called macrumors.com. I'm confident in your information however, just because the timing makes sense.

No laptops til MacWorld? How is Apple to make money when many places have been out of Apple laptops for a month or more? IMHO I think there will be an announcement next Tuesday. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

This forum is a good place to get your daily laughs. I agree with you there. I take everything on this site with a grain of salt even with the small things (tech advice, what to buy, ect.).
