I guess I should feel lucky to have even gotten October 1-6 for my 16gb iPhone 6+ space grey...

I didn't order until 6:10am CST

On the other hand, I got September 19th delivery for a gold and space grey regular iPhone 6 by ordering around that same time. Looks like the 6+ is gonna be tough to get this year (early anyway).

I'm honestly not sure how some people have been convinced that modifying shipping to expedited is going to delay their order. The order has not been shipped, is not even in the initial stages for shipping and is just sitting there with the sole purpose of having its details modified. By the logic being used, calling them because of a mistake in your address would push your order back.... If you are lucky enough to get a CSR that can take care of it for you, then absolutely do it. Just my two cents..

Shipping was in 7-10 days which means late this week and in to early next week all of us in the Oct 1-6 boat should start seeing shipping notices and large apple.com store charges on your card :p

I believe its 7-10 days from launch date, hence the October estimate. 7 business days puts delivery at October 1.

Sorry if this has been discussed already here (17 page thread) - but in the past, has Apple beat the estimated delivery date for phones in batches subsequent to the initial release?

Has anyone tried asking if they could switch from shipping to in-store pickup on the 19th? I went online earlier today today and looked to see if placing an order would give a different timeframe for some weird reason and it said pickup in-store on 9/19. I'm considering canceling my order and placing a new one for pickup if I can get one for sure on Friday. I can drive the hour and a half to the closest store if it means getting my new phone sooner.

Not really because the order shipping bracket is one thing, the virtual line is another. Within the groups there is probably some virtual semblance of an order and that system I assume is un-editable since it's dealing with millions of dynamic entries.

It's like an unmanageable giant string of placed orders locked into place.

Because of sheer numbers the LINE itself is un-editable.

So upon editing something it may send it to the back of the line even within the prediction bracket.

I only say this because I read reports of many CSRs saying that threat and it makes sense that it's very sensitive right now.

Maybe for a 6. No way you can get the Plus ordered to a store by Friday, IMHO

Will they actually reserve one for you for pickup?

Or is it just available for pickup while supplies last?

No idea. Since I already have an order placed, it won't let me see past the initial screen and then the one asking for my phone info. But when I select 6 Plus, it says for sure pickup on 9/19.

Just tried again on the store and 6 Plus says available 9/19 under store pickup.

It said that late Friday and over the weekend as well. For most models, when you actually went to select a store, it said "unavailable", especially if the shipping date was later than 9/19.

The number of CSR's giving this story about "sensitivity" is equally matched by the number of CSR's more than willing to make the modification. The rep I spoke to had a very firm grasp on what was correct and incorrect information as it pertained to what reps were telling customers. For example, plenty of people in this thread were told by CSR's that EVERYONE was receiving expedited shipping by default, which is a fallacy. The correct information was that everyone who was quoted a date of the 19th was getting the expedited shipping for free because Apple wanted to ensure it got the phones to those customers on the day given. Seeing as the information being spewed between the reps is entirely unreliable, I find it to be very unlikely a shipping method change can push an order back seeing as the item has not even begun its shipping preparations yet =D Suppose time will only tell.

Sounds reasonable I guess.

Im only generally guessing.

I personally would be too shy to do it.

But yeah I guess you're right.

I want my phone on release day as much as the next guy, but let's be real here. Apple stated they sold 4 million phones this weekend. That's 46 phones a second.

If my phone comes earlier than the 1-6 October timeframe I'll be thrilled. I'm still going to stop by my local att store and see if they happens to have a 6+, 128gb. If so, I'll cancel and buy it there.

Just to add some anecdotal data:

I'm in the window after this one (Oct 13-20) and I just spoke with a rep (needed to change the shipping address). I asked about switching to expedited and she gave the "every order is auto-expedited" response.

If you're in the UK forget it. ALL 6's and 6 Pluses are sold out for instore pickup. Not one left anywhere.

After updating your shipping address, does your shipping address match your carrier billing address, or can they be different?

My initial shipping address was my carrier billing address. I called and got it changed to where I actually live with no hassle at all. The carrier billing address is my mother-in-law's, and I'm in a city about an hour away. In case this is helpful to anyone, I'll note that my credit card billing address is tied to a third address! Oh the life of a grad student...

I saw that yesterday too but if you enter your zip code most likely all the stores near you comes up as unavailable for pick up.

Yeah, it states that. But click "Pick up at Store on 9/19" It will open a link with a list of stores and it will probably say "Unavailable for Pick-Up" That may change 6-7am Friday local time. I don't know.

Of course all stores will have them on Friday, but the question is how many?
I can picture the massive Apple Stores like mid town Manhattan, LA, San Fran, Chicago. They will have a nice quantity of 6 Plus..but they will still fly out the door fast.

You are correct sir! I am in the same boat and am hoping somehow it will ship a little earlier. 128GB 6+ Space Grey ordered from Apple.com at approx 3:40 EDT through iphone app.

We have by tomorrow (tuesday) for the date to change otherwise we will be waiting a while after release.
