Mock, not really. Give some perspective, sure.

This thread is full of updates and information but is constantly brought down by people who are obsessed with a device they don't even own yet. Their priorities are so skewed that I've seen the following:

threats of class-action lawsuits
harrassment of Apple employees
harrassment of UPS customer service
declarations of never *doing whatever* again

Anyone reacting this way because their phone isn't coming earlier than early is just being a damn child. Apple sold a product and promised it would be delivered between October 1-6. Apple are trying their best to over deliver their promise. Still this isn't good enough.

I do agree with you... Reluctantly... :p People are going bonkers... I am one of them... But, thankfully haven't done any of those you mentioned... But, my refresh button is surely abusing me... :p

This is the worst Apple launch ever. I've waited til 2.36AM to order the 6 Plus, told me Sept 19 delivery, then it changed, then Apple told me for sure I'm getting it on the 19th (system error the 24th). Mine is in Korea now. It will probably visit about 4 Countries before I get to see it. At this point I don't even care anymore. My neighbors walked into the Apple Store in Manhattan Beach, CA and they got exactly what they wanted. Which makes me believe Apple is giving our pre-orders to actual Apple Stores, since they have plenty of time to send us the phones by Oct 6 (latest delivery date). This is very frustrating.

I also called Apple and asked why did my order changed to 'preparing for shipping' 3 hours before the store launch, so I won't be able to cancel? She said "yes". She told me thousands of people got the same message so they can't cancel the order and go in line. That's messing their sales, they have online and in store sales quotas they need to achieve. I am a salesman and know how to ask the right questions, make people open up. I can't believe she just told me this...

Thanks for reading this novel. I feel better now. Maybe after my phone visits 2 more Countries I get to see it as well.

Allow for some human emotion and irrationality in your assessments of human behavior, particularly where large sums of money are involved, or people are going to be letting you down and turning you into a cynic for the rest of your life.

It's a cellphone.

Seriously.

I nominate that this thread be renamed "Human emotion and irrationality".

There's an awful lot of overreacting going on here... for real.

Shanghai, China 09/22/2014 9:13 P.M. Departure Scan

See ya later Shanghai! Not gonna miss ya.

My date moved back from Monday to Thursday.

We're on our way to Alaska... i'd imagine Thursday is more realistic. Its what mine has said from the beginning and has never changed.

It'll sit in AK overnight, and leave for Louisville in the morning, then on to our local destinations by Wed morning. Our for delivery then Thursday.

It's a lot more than a cellphone; for some it's a nearly $1,000 productivity tool. When you start getting into that kind of money, sometimes people do lose a little perspective and need a place to vent to their peers. I doubt for just about anyone in here that this is really an all-consuming issue; they just want a place where they can complain to a sympathetic ear that is likely not available to them in the "real world" because, hey, "it's a cellphone".

I can promise you one thing: judging people to be whiny children because they want to vent about the seeming inaccuracies of the shipping information provided by UPS isn't going to get them to change their perspectives. If you want to provide an alternate way of thinking that will actually be impactful, you have to be mindful of how you do it. I thought some of your previous posts were fine and I acknowledged that you were being insightful; don't hitch your wagon to Czicks' star now.

Im with the Shanghai group. UPS81 that just took off from Shanghai has been landing in Anchorage and then taking off again in 3 hours so it may very well be in Louisville by tonight.

Well. Thank you for the perspective. I feel like a great weight has been lifted. As a matter of fact I don't even want my phone any more. So great is your wisdom I'll probably never want for anything again. I think I'll give up food and shelter and wander the earth spreading your philosophy of delayed gratification... Maybe I'll start a kick starter and raise funds to build a chapel where your teachings can be disseminated to the masses. Human ambition and enthusiasm will be quashed! That is now my life's calling! And I have only you, Brother, to thank you for putting me on my path.

Obviously I kid. I know you are being rational but apple only have themselves to blame for building this kind of frenzied hype and then completely botching the roll out. For a lot of us we expected and were offered 9/19 shipping when we pushed the button only to get an email delaying our orders until October. Am I happy it's coming earlier? Sure. Am I dissapointed I don't already have my very expensive phone.. Also yes. This thread allows me to vent in a way that doesn't inconvenience anyone so allow me and my fellow suffers that...

I think there's 3 flights with our phones headed to ALaska within an hour of each other? 81, 99, 105
Let the race begin!
I'm feeling a little bad for UPS.

How soon we forget that a great majority of us only had Oct 1-6 delivery because the apple site came up 2 hours after the phones went on sale. We should have been in the 9/19 delivery group. That's why people were getting free swag from apple.

Regardless, technical issues aside, delivery dates were promised Oct 1 - 6...how soon "we" forget that the promised delivery date is as such and Apple sending some sooner is really Apple trying to do right by the customer. They do not have to do that. The free swag people are getting by seemingly bitching about waiting another week or so for their iPhones is just a bonus from Apple. Again, there is no way someone could be pissed that their phone didn't ship earlier than stated. I realize there were site issues but that happens every single year. Is a phone really a reason to be so pissed off about? It seems like there is some perspective that is lacking here.

FWIW, I don't have mine yet either.

Your phone will be in the USA in about 11 hours when it hits Anchorage, then flies to Louisville, KY.

I wish I knew what to tell the Shanghai people, but I have no idea why UPS decided to route some of them there.

Alrighty. Thanks buddy!

I know everyone wants their shiny new toy, I'm sure it'll be here by the 25th, as estimated.

Mine has been moved to tomorrow, 9/23 as well. While disappointing, the phones will still arrive earlier than Apple's estimate (in my case, 9/25). UPS's tracking system is the big hurt here. It would have been nice if UPS would have updated their tracking system as the delays were actually happening.

Updating everyone's delivery date as 'early' (for 9/22) only to push it back to 9/23 while not updating the tracking system for days is a bit sloppy for a company the size of UPS (with all their technology and resources).

Today would have been perfect to receive it as I have the day off, but oh well. My UPS guy just delivered a Zappos package to me and I told him that I am expecting my iPhone tomorrow, but I am working and will try to be home in time to sign for it. He said, 'don't worry Steve, if it's on my truck, you'll get it tomorrow, I'll come back later at night if I have to before my route is done'.

He's a good guy, and this is why he gets a fat tip every holiday season.

Departed Osaka

Yay...ok so what flight do you think its on??? and are you guys still thinking delivery on Tuesday...seems like it awful tight to make it to Weschester, NY if it lands in Louisville 4.00am Tuesday. Normally its on the truck for delivery at around 5.00am

Update ok i see its on FLIGHT NO: 105

How is this botched? It's a very sucessful high demand product. These things happen, and I'm sure if yours was delivered day 1 while everyone else waited 2-3 weeks, you wouldn't call it botched.

Left Japan - delivery time 9/23

3 flights heading to Alaska now

UPS105 Osaka to Alaska:
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UPS105

UPS81 Shanghai to Alaska:
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UPS81

UPS99 Incheon to Alaska (Scheduled but not yet departed despite schedule saying 10:14 Korea time which is an hour ago):
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UPS99

Upon arrival in Anchorage it's another 5.5 hours ride to Louisville, KY hub so I think it should be there around midnight - 2am on Tuesday 9/23. Then per our resident UPS guy (flyingwasabi) it should board 4am flight to your local airport and then loaded to the truck by 7am for delivery!!
