3- The Shanghai shipment caused some sort of overload that became apparent during the customs check.

This is exactly what I first thought too. I feel they tried to cram all the shipments whereas the original plan was that some are supposed to arrive on Saturday (for Monday delivery) and the rest on Monday (for Tuesday delivery).

Wasabi said he rarely sees a shipment going from ZhengZhou to Shanghai to Osaka before heading to Anchorage. This was the first clue that they probably were not planning for those extra pallets thus needed to be rerouted to Osaka otherwise the plane from Incheon/Shanghai won't be able to carry all the shipments.

This has a trickle down impact when all 3 Anchorage to Louisville plane landed within 10 minutes of each other. Customs system got overloaded and bam we're here with a bunch of people putting on their tinfoil hat saying UPS is holding their phones or the two UPS guys posting here are flat out LYING about their processes which is friggin absurd.

Watch the WorldPort video on YouTube. NOTHING got overloaded.

This is an intentional decision on UPS' part to hold this shipment. This iPhone surge is a drop in the ocean compared to Christmas season. Stop acting like our shipments broke WP and customs. Simply not true.

:apple:

Typically there is no "holdover" on night shift, only day shift. So if it gets unloaded at night your phone will be sent out on a plane. Worked at world port from 02-06.

I am on US81 from last night, 1:56am arrival in KY on 9/23. No import scan, yet.

Are you saying that the phones like mine who have not gone through customs yet, will do so on the night shift tonight? Or the phones that land from Alaska tonight will go through customs on the night shift.

Thanks for all your help.

No because what the two UPS guys told us were true. That's how their process works. I've said the same thing earlier to you for that matter but you clearly didn't read. Again, just because you haven't gotten your phone, does not mean they are lying because 99% of the time the process works... every year iPhone launch has always taken a toll on everyone's system (Apple's website needed to use load rebalancing for 2 hours, Government customs system were clogged overnight, etc)

Just because there are tons of iPhone clogging up the system and you happened to be one of the people who are affected does not mean the process are broken or they are telling lies.

I mentioned this like 100x today, there are MANY PEOPLE who got their phones today. They were part of the UPS109 who arrived at midnight last night. Their phones got import scanned within 1-2 hours and departed to their local airport for delivery TODAY. This is the fact and it is exactly what they said "as long as the phone was processed in Louisville it will be delivered the morning after because it's an urgent air shipment".

The fact that our United States Government custom systems were clogged and unable to process further import scans overnight does not mean UPS is trying to hold your phones or the two UPS guys are lying. Fact of the matter is that the Louisville process were not completed due to external factor thus did not follow their process roadmap. Not because they are lying.

You clearly chose to ignore the facts and data just like many people in this country who are whipped up by some dumbass headlines or extrapolating their own experience without looking at the bigger picture.

Facts:

1) You need to complete Import Scan in Louisville before your shipments can continue
2) US Government Customs system were clogged so they have to do them in the morning manually
3) There are people who obtained their phones today (they got import scan around 1am last night... 1 hour after their UPS109 plane landed in Louisville)
4) There are people who got import scan this morning and their phones have left to local airport. I can attest to that. My phone is currently in Windsor Locks, CT as of 6:28pm ET.

Just because your shipment has not been processed, does not make the two UPS guys liars or UPS trying to hold on to your phone because they want to torture you.

I hate you because you provide facts and rational thought....

J/K; good info and thanks.

well said :):):)

Yeah, this went from good-hearted grousing to serious bitching yesterday when one of our friendly UPS posters over-promised and his company didn't meet the expectations he setup. I think throwing around words like "guarantee" got everyone ramped up to expect early deliveries and now are having their expectations crushed.
Yep, I think this is a big part of the problem here. I mean, look. We all had a delivery estimate of 10/1 - 10/6 from Apple, rigt? Even with these delays, I'm sure that 99.9% of us are going to beat that estimate. I told myself on preorder night (in between half-zombified 3 AM grumbling) that October 1st already wasn't so bad, but now I'm going to get my phone on 9/25 or possibly 9/26 if this Louisville customs backlog is really severe. I should be happy with that.

But I probably bought too much into the hype and assumed that the likely scenario being described to us in this thread would hold. So when things didn't go to plan -- delays leaving China, delays clearing customs -- it was natural to be disappointed.

The big question I have now is: when the hell are the 9/25 packages going to clear customs.

I am pretty sure the operations at Worldport skew to the night side, so there should be some way of clearing them tonight? Maybe there is another customs crew that comes in later?

UPS just dropped off a package that my wife was expecting and it just reinforced my decision to have mine held for delivery at my local Hub. I cannot be waiting around all day until 7PM just to ensure I do not miss the delivery of my package.

How did you figure that out?

There were no flights out of Louisville this afternoon. First flight out is tomorrow morning at 415 am. Truck route to pittsburgh is Louisville Columbus new Stanton then pittsburgh or so I was told. I have a arrival scan in Columbus at 1820. Or so. It's cool I'm have my phones tomorrow. Maybe we are on the same truck if you are in pittsburgh

You got the Import Scan. As long as your plane arrives at your local airport by 4am tomorrow morning, you will get your phone tomorrow.

This means you have about 6 more hours to get your phone on a plane to wherever you are.

NJ. That plane that landed like 2 hours ago was the last one here...well at least thats on the schedule now.

Anybody with 9/25 sitting on this update? .. destination Northern California.

Louisville, KY, United States 09/23/2014 1:56 A.M. Arrival Scan

Right now it appears that US Customs is working on the 9/24 deliveries so if you are a 9/25 scheduled date and you get a Import Scan - Please Post immediately so we know the next wave of shipments will commence.
Thanks for your cooperation.:D
