Not as many people participating on the MR forum; that's probably a pretty statistically insignificant sampling of the folks who are getting iPhone deliveries today. Not to mention that iPhones aren't UPS' only packages.

I definitely understand that. Some people just sit back and watch while other people put their 2 cents in. Plus I know and understand our phones aren't the only things going throw customs. I'm just waiting to see who's the first to get a import scan
 
I mean manufacturing defects are a certainty when producing this many devices, but it doesn't make it suck any less. Fingers crossed I get a device free of defects. Not stressed about the delivery date, but I am slightly worried about defects.

I wonder if the Apple Stores have any set aside for replacements, or if you have to wait for them to ship you a new one? When I got my first Nexus 4 from Google, it had a defect so I called and they authorized an RMA; I got to keep using the defective phone (it was cosmetic so didn't stop it from working properly fortunately) until the new one arrived and I just shipped the old one back postage paid. I would imagine that's how Apple does it too.

It's like getting a new phone...again! ;)

I hear ya'; I'm still betting that all the 9/25ers get their scans today. If not, then we have something legitimate to gripe about. :)

Keep in mind though it's only what she sees. I've been told plenty of times by carriers that there is no delay, but as can always be the case "stuff" happens from time to time. Fedex accidentally left a package of mine at the sort facility a couple weeks ago and it missed targeted delivery, but the rep was unable to see that due to it just being human error.

Correct. It is my understanding that they may have a supply of replacements.

However, several users have posted in this thread (5000 posts ago lol) that Apple gave them a few options. To the best of my recollection they were:

1) return phone and have one back in your hands in 3-4 days.
2) Keep phone until replacement arrives (required credit card authorization in case you are a thief ;) )
3) go to the store and attempt to exchange.

It certainly sucks, but very fixable.

Team520 were any of you in the Oct 1 to Oct 6 group? I'm in the Oct 2 to 7 group.
I'm happy to see my delivery back at 9/25 just for the fact that it gives me a 1 day delay cushion before the weekend. I don't want to have to endure a UPSless weekend...

I'm actually in the 2-7 group too but I have a 9/26 delivery

Yeah, Google made you put a CC on file with them too for the same reasons.

It would suck to get one with defects, but at least they'll get you a new one relatively quickly it seems. With my Nexus, I didn't feel that put out by it because I got a new one to replace it (defect free!) in under a week, and in the meantime I still got to play with the new phone.
 
I just set a Genius Bar appointment for Friday with all this talk of scratches and nicks. Hopefully my phone is fine, but I need the appointment for AppleCare+ anyway so I might as well!
 
I doubt FedEx would have been much different; apparently they had already pissed Apple off for screwing up some launch which is why they're not the "go to" company for them anymore.

I think the year my phone came the day before the release day was by FedEx...

No... she was pretty rude... when she picked up.. i just told her my phone came with some scratches and how can i get a exchange.. then she just said you can just return it.....
 
In off topic good news, I ordered a case off of Amazon last night through a company called Wireless4Wireless... They were offering free shipping, but I wanted to get it a little faster (was hoping for Friday). So, I sent them a message asking if I could get it faster and how much it would cost me. Got a reply today saying they upgraded my shipping for free!
 
UPS updated last night with the "by 3:00 P.M." part. (Funny that when I log in to UPS that "by 3:00PM" isn't there. Even though it says to log in to get an estimate of the delivery time."
I hoooope that the UPS guy gets delayed a bit with all the other iPhones he's delivering today so I can get home on time to sign for it!

I wish apple used DSL. I ordered a case yesterday which shipped from the UK and is being delivered today. At least I get my case and phone on the same day maybe things worked out for the best!

I would try calling and getting a different rep or asking to speak with a supervisor. They should accommodate you and send a replacement in the mail while you use that phone. I'd be shocked if you cannot get that to happen.

I go naked anyway and scratches would not lead me to return mine because I will get them anyway. However, I certainly would not be happy and understand you being pissed.
