OH hell noesss.... Pickup my phone fro the ups like 20 mins ago... i open my box and phone and the bottom corner of my phone has nicks.......=[...

Of course, that's the other downside to all this waiting - that you'll finally get it and it will be F-ed up in some way. Talk about adding insult to injury.
 
Apple bought shipping type, UPS is just going by that in my opinion. Saver costs more then Expedited.

Apple paid UPS to deliver the phones by a certain date; UPS assigns delivery types to stagger deliveries so they didn't overwhelm themselves. I don't believe that Apple had anything to do with some people getting Saver versus Expedited.
 
Yes, and it's in the hands of a shipper right now. If it gets stolen, guess what, you get reimbursed for it and it is done quickly. I really think you just need to talk a deep breath and calm down... it's this way EVERY time, if you can't hack it just wait and buy it from the store a few weeks after launch.

Reimbursement is quick. Another phone is weeks away.
 
I just picked up my 6+ silver AT&T 128 at my UPS Customer Center.
If you choose this option, it's pretty slick. You'll get a 'completed' notice and probably an 'out for delivery' - which really means 'at the counter' msg.

My phone was ordered about 3:30 ET thru the Apple Store app. It was shipped early with a Apple est date of 9/25. UPS said 9/23, then bumped it to 9/22. The shipment was detained in Shainghai maybe because of paper work issues, then traveled by way of Japan. Date changed back to 9/23. Then it came in with a flood of other flights and customs didn't clear in time. I wonder if the previous customs delay had something to do with the delay again in KY???

well, maybe it will influence Apple to change their shipping partners as there are other competitors that are clamoring for the business (i.e. FedEx)

I doubt FedEx would have been much different; apparently they had already pissed Apple off for screwing up some launch which is why they're not the "go to" company for them anymore.

That sucks. Good news is with a credit card you can keep the phone until Apple ships another. Or if you do not want to go that route you can send it back and be out of a phone 3-4 days. Lastly, you could go to the Apple store for an exchange, rumor is they keep a supply on hand for this kind of thing.

They need to split the load 50/50 as it is clear that no single company can handle these launches.

No, the preorder process is everything from preordering to receiving. Even though it is no longer in Apple's possession does not mean they have no control over it. They chose the shipping method, and when they are paying millions to UPS to deliver these, I guarantee they have some say in how they are handled.

I was reading a thread of small defects over the weekend, 'dust, dead pixel(s), one that arrived already slightly bent, something like looked like screen burn with a "C" in the middle.' I'll inspect this thing with a magnifying glass, any flaws I will return it.

I just open mine after picking it up and the bottom of the edge has some nicks and scratches...
 
Where in all of that did you get that I need to calm down? I specifically stated that I kept my cool and was perfectly polite. Trust me, I am not worked up. I am understandable frustrated and disappointed in Apple. But I am perfectly calm.

I really don't get the frustrated part, so no, to me it is not at all understandable. You knew exactly (and if you didn't that's on you) how launches like this go. If you search it, you will see this type of stuff happening every year to people. While it may not happen to you each time, you won the "lottery" this time and that's just the way it goes.

It's a device, when it arrives you will enjoy it and not be bothered at all about the short delay in getting to you.

I mean manufacturing defects are a certainty when producing this many devices, but it doesn't make it suck any less. Fingers crossed I get a device free of defects. Not stressed about the delivery date, but I am slightly worried about defects.

I'm happy to see my delivery back at 9/25 just for the fact that it gives me a 1 day delay cushion before the weekend. I don't want to have to endure a UPSless weekend...

What is this teamXXX stuff? My delivery date was I think originally for 2-7 but it's showing for the 26th by UPS. Hopefully it gets here then, but if not oh well.
