So, I got four orders through on pre-order night (all of them 7-10 day shipping) the very second Apple would allow me to. One of them ended up getting swapped out for one reservation that actually went through, and that phone delivers tomorrow, but that's not part of this story, really.
The other three phones were saying 7-10 days with the same Oct. 1st to 6th delivery date as everyone else. So I called Apple to ask what's up, ended up having an hour and a half long conversation with a really, REALLY nice girl from customer support. I SUPPOSE you could say it was more of an hour and a half of flirting than conversation, but that doesn't particularly matter.
She ended up expediting all of my orders to next day shipping, which changed the delivery dates to Sep. 29th to Oct. 1st. That sounded a lot better for me. This was on 9/12, shortly after I woke up at like 1PM EST.
Then on Sunday 9/14, those three orders updated to say that the delivery window was now Sep. 24th to Sep. 29th. Obviously I was really, really excited.
Fast forward to this morning--the orders have all updated to "Preparing for Shipment" and all pushed their dates back to Sep. 29th to Oct. 1st (!!!!) I immediately called Apple, bewildered, and after being put on hold 3 times by a guy who sounded EXACTLY like Lyle from Under the Dome (actor Dwight Yoakam), was eventually just told that there were over 4 million pre-orders and that my phone is in the warehouse to be shipped, but somehow despite overnight shipping, it'll be roughly 11+ days before I actually get my phones.
None of this makes any sense to me, and I'm kind of upset about it. That whole 9/24 delivery being dangled in my face is what ultimately killed me here. I went into my countdowns app and had to change the date and seeing that number jump up to 11 days, just...ugh.
