Hello all... I am new here. Today I filed a complaint with Apple's Consumer Relations Division. I feel I have a merited reason being that I am an Audio professional. I DO have a Mac Pro "tower" but like editing and mixing on a Macbook when I travel. A lot of audio applications require a FW400 device to be attached while in use which makes wonder what Apple is thinking...
THE RESPONSE: The response I recieved was in conversation with Apple tech support was, "I am actaully not sure what Apple was thinking, I just found out yesterday myself. I don't understand because we use it for troubleshooting and diagnostics ourselves..." So even the people at APPLE are not happy...
The person with Apple's Consumer Relation's division said if Apple gets enough viable complaints they may change the design of the products... Posting on this forum may do very little good, that's why WE must file with Apple's Consumer Relations Division which you can speak with my calling the main number and requesting to file a complaint with Apple's Consumer Relation's division...
I like Apple, I think they are a great company, I think they make good products... I mean, I have an Apple Logo on my car!! BUT many of US are AUDIO and VISUAL professional who need products with Firewire 400!
I intend no harm to Apple and want them to succeed in their endeavors... But this was a very poor decision that MANY of us will agree on...
:apple:

I thought FW800 was backwards compatible with FW400? Are you saying that you can't use an adapter cable to connect your FW400 device to the FW800 port?

I'm sick of paying more. I'm sure my UK friends are sick of it too. Apple are by no means alone in this, Adobe put on a bit of a number at times with International pricing, but they are the biggest culprits.

So, stop it Jobs! Stop punishing us because we're Australians! I understand you don't want to visit, because you don't like plane trips, but at least make it easier for your products to sell here! (I work in an Apple reseller myself).

This is nothing unique to Apple, every electronic consumer device is cheaper in he United States than anywhere else, it's all related to exchange rates, economy, different markets etc. and as someone else pointed out 'sales tax'. In the US sales tax varies from state to state and some states don't have it, so the US price you see is before any applicable state sales tax is added.

I know... you're right. I will definitely voice my concerns to Apple. I was pretty frustrated yesterday and as you accurately pointed out... I was venting.

I was considering that... but I was really hoping for the GPU update on the 17" model. While I'm sure it will come at some point, I don't understand why they would make the 15" stronger than the 17".

It's a sad day when HP is more innovative that Apple (referring to the HP touchsmart).
Oh you mean their computer that you have to touch the screen, why in the world would I want to that, I mean my hands would be hurting after a few minutes.

The new machines are an step backward

They lack of ports, firewire and video output, there is not a composit/ s-video adaptor!!!

I use the firewire for video capturing and the video out for doing visuals in my shows.

The great things about macs was that I didn't need scan converters ($300) and that was the advantage over laptops.

I believe I am gonna search for an overstock last model Mac Books, they were lot better.

And yet the phone you have to touch with your hands is somehow less of a fatigue. Please. Don't be bitter just because HP has done something that Apple hasn't.

You're mistaken. You don't HAVE to touch the screen. The touchscreen supplements the keyboard and mouse. This is the direction that most devices seem to be moving... and many were hypethisizing that the new MBP would incorporate this type of technology.
