hahaha i thought i was the only one who asked about menu bar icons :D

ok the weather menu is meteorologist a great freeware weather app.

Next to that is GmailStatus.

I like filling up my menu bar...so if you guys have any other suggestions as to what to put in there...or which applications have menubar items...post them here.

okay, if you really want to fill it up...

QuickSilver has a menubar icon, and i think that Growl does as well.

you could also stick all 3 of the MenuMeter icons up there - RAM usage, CPU usage and network traffic.

then you could try MenuMeterClock, puts a little calendar icon with the date in your menubar.

you could dig out all of the menu extras that are already sitting on your Mac as well. i know there's a keychain menubar icon, as well as others that are sitting somewhere on your HD right now. i forget where they are, buried somewhere in a system folder.

i can't remember, did you have the iChat icon up there? you could also get Konfabulator, that has a menubar icon. and WinSwitch (i think it's called that) will put your user picture up in the menubar, used for fast user switching.

that's alot of icons. :D are you really sure you want to fill up your Menubar? :p

edit i just found another thing to fill up your menubar. :p
check out FuzzyClock a vague "1/4 past 3" type clock. :D

haha and i usually never ask about menubar icons. I thought i recognized that one as bluetooth but i just couldn't put a finger on it.

Meteorologist looks cool, i don't like weather dock as i don't like to many thing in my dock.

How are you getting the Console info, along with all the other info on the bottom right to show up? I didn't see Konfabulator running.

I'd really like that, it's nice and simple. I'm definitely going to check out Looking Glass.

Heaven-
Thanks for the tip about the beta release of Adium. I went and downloaded. I like it alot.

I'm using the program Looking Glass to get a live webcam pic of Boston, Mass as my background.

in reply to hanq

You can get a brushed aluminium effect very easily in P'shop usng Add Noise and Blur filters. Much more satisfying to make your own rather than downloading.

thanks cb911, when exams are over i'm gonna take your suggestions and fill the menu bar right up.

I think i've also seen a program that has scrolling news headlines in your menu bar....that takes up a good inch.

when Midterms are over i'm gonna post here again with my menu bar as full as possible

ha ha. :) i can't wait to see how full you can get your menubar. :D

i think also Xfactor, or some other P2P apps have an option to use a menubar icon...

criana - that console info is courtesy of GeekTool (unless i'm mistaken).

while i'm here, might as well post that other screenshot i promised. Lutetium Vol.1 icon for the standard folder icons. and everything else the same.

also, on that screenie, you can see how i like to always give if i take... ;) unfortunately, i had to reboot this morning.

for more info on exactly what i'm running there... check out the detail page over at MacSnaps.

The console info program I'm using is mkconsole. I'm sure there are multiple others though, as cb911 said. The info on the bottom right is from the application AquaMon. You can find them both on macupdate.com or versiontracker.com
