OK what are you all doing to make 2008 show up? I've just been through the whole process from scratch including re-signing up using my programme code, and 2008 is nowhere to be seen. A couple of you have mentioned back orders; has it been removed from the site again until it's back in stock?

I signed up again and 2008 still there for me, along with 2004...I did place an order this morning as well.

Yesterday when i ordered my dutch copy, the site was mostly unresponsive en faulty.

it had took me 8 times the process the order. also after entering my creditcard for the transport costs and press process, the site gave me an error notice.

I placed an order, but got a notice saying it's back-ordered until May.

Thanks for this thread though, I wondered what happened to Office 2004 and when Office 2008 was coming. The local HUP admin guy didn't know anything about it.

Same here...after several tries finally got the confirmation mail.
Maybe it's a dutch thing?

Hmm, mine said 15 days. I now suspect that there are several distribution centres, which makes sense because there were different contact addresses on the site for different regions.

eventually i got a conformation thru email..
i've mailed microsoft about the errors. when i received the conformation, the pages were still faulty.

It's always a good thing to complain :)

Just a quick update - I ordered my 2004 back in mid-Feb and got in note in March about the being delayed in mid-April. I was hoping for 2008, however, I received my 2004 this week. My 2008 is on order. At least I can actually use Microsoft apps on my iMac now...

credit card charged

well they charged my credit card already...so hopefully it will ship before May...

I got in to work this morning (after being out a few days) and had an email saying it was back ordered and would ship May 6. I just got home from work and it was in my mailbox.

They don't have a Home and Student Edition of Office 2008? Sorry if I am playing dumb but I honestly don't know.

I wouldn't pay $300 for Office 2008 if all I need is Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

I ordered my HUP MS Office 2008 last week. It showed up today and is now installed on my iMac. Seems to work fine, although I needed to download a 125+ MB patch that has already come out.

The patch took me forever to download, even at 10mbps but it installed and is running great. :)

Got mine Tuesday as well. And that's also after receiving the back order email notice.

Ordered mine a little over two weeks ago and got an email shortly thereafter of May 6 for delivery. Just got a call from the wife that it just got there today! They must be ramping up! Will update once I am home and then have to download the updates!

Bill.......:apple:

Update; Yes its it. By the way do I need to deinstall Office 2004 first before installing Office 2008?

So how do you guys feel about the performance of 2008 compared to running 2004 in Rosetta?

I've heard reports that they're very comparable, even that 2008 is slower. But I've also got a friend who absolutely loves the new interface.

I'll get mine hopefully soon so I can see for myself. Though, I don't have too high hopes of trying to run it on my PowerBook 1 GHz G4. Probably stick with 2004 on that machine...

I ordered (UK - based) 1/4/08 and still not charged to credit card or delivered. What lead times have others in the UK had?

I just ordered mine today (missed that it came available on the first). As others have noted, the MS company stores (EPP and HUP) seem to really pad their shipping times. I know that when I ordered XP back in August (on EPP) it said 3-4 weeks for delivery and came in 4 or 5 days.

As mentioned earlier, the site told me that my order would take 15 days, but I got my delivery notification on Saturday so that was only 8 days. It looks like they're just playing it safe with the estimates.

I've seen similar things from Amazon where the site tells me 4-6 weeks, and in one case it only took 4 days.
