The Angels really need to stop killing their bottom-of-the-9th-2-out rallies with botched stolen base attempts. They did that against Oakland last week too. Howie Kendrick was even 4-for-4 when he got up in the 9th but he got his at-bat cut short by the ending of the game at 2nd base.

the tigers offense is causing me great pain, they aren't King like they were last year but the bats are dead. Shef is hitting the ball hard at times but right at people, their pitching is what saves them as of now, but this is driving me crazy, and it stinks when they actually get a hit there is 2 outs and they arent hitting consistent enough to rally with 2 down.

oh yeah and brandon inge, what the heck man, 0-20, you are wayyyy better than that son.

maybe this series with Toronto out of the cold weather, in the dome will get the bats going because our announcers think it has to do with the cold weather, unfortunately its gonna be cold for a little while longer here in the MI.

what can i say though? after years of futility i shouldnt complain that much, should i?

Cards sweep the Bucs to go 5-4 and back on top of NL Central. What a difference a week makes after such a dismal start.

Should be fun to watch.Wonder if Ichiro will fare better against Dice K than he did against Beckett? Tho the Dice K mania/coverage is well into overkill. For cripe's sake, the guy has a bowel movement and 50 reporters are there to cover it..

Pretty much the same thing happened when Nomo and Ichiro came to the US. Apparently there just weren't as many East Coast reporters there to cover it, so it wasn't as big an event.

Pavano and Mussina are both on the DL.

I can't believe Rivera served up a HR to Scutaro. Tough one for the Yanks.

BJ Ryan of the Blue Jays was also put on the DL.

Allow me to give yet another reason it's hard to listen to John Sterling.

After the Yankees came back to take the lead in the 8th this afternoon, Sterling said:

John Sterling said:
So the Yanks are going to go 4-2 on this road trip. And it really should have been 6-0."

Mariano Rivera blows the save, right? So, now the Yankees are 3-3 on the road trip (which, really, is close to 6-0). But the real kicker? The Yankees have won five games all year.

Such that:

You're inventing your mythos and it stinks.

I'd take Sterling over Remy any day.

Don't count on any Red Sox games tomorrow. This storm isn't letting up any time soon.

I always love how the Red Sox fans get their hopes up so early in the season.:p Wait till the weekend and we will see who is in first place.:D

Im glad I feel asleep during the 9th inning.

Rant time.

I tried to watch the Padres-Dodgers game this evening -- with the emphasis on tried. Sadly this game was broadcast on ESPN. Once again, those clowns in the broadcast booth were only dimly aware of the fact that they were at a ballpark.

Normally, when I'm forced to watch an EPSN broadcast, I mute the sound and just watch, so I don't have to listen to the distracting blather. It didn't work this time because the ESPN cameras rarely pointed at the field. See this was Jackie Robinson day, so they were conducting interview after interminable interview with old ballplayers. Not between innings, mind you. Not during pitching changes. Not with voices over the field action. No, it was straight through, with the camera mainly in the booth.

I didn't think I'd ever get sick of hearing Hank Aaron talk about the game, but I did, after about three innings of it, and the failure of Morgan and company to ask him a single interesting question. I also never thought I'd get sick of hearing about Jackie Robinson, and how he changed the game forever. But after three hours of the same obvious wisdom repeated over and over again, I could hear Jack shouting from his grave "enough already, play ball!"

ESPN really must hate baseball. That's all I can figure.

I totally sympathize with you on that. I thought it was great that they were talking about Jackie Robinson and what he's done for the game and all that, but come on, announce what's going on in the game!

But that was a nice walloping by the Dodgers today, despite a few errors. Jackie still would've been proud. :D

And the PA announcer during the first few innings the Dodgers were up, he was saying, "Now batting, right fielder, number 42, Andre Ethier", and "Pitcher, number 42, Randy Wolf". Imagine what the lineup card must've looked like! :p

this isn't the first time espn has pulled this stunt. last year, during the first saints-falcons game, all they talked about was the stories about new orleans and how the city was devastated the whole night (i guess they thought the saints would lose by a bunch), and hardly talk about the game. okay, you can talk about the stuff first quarter but eventually you have to stop and talk about the game. it was annoying, and i really liked that game because we kicked falcon butt. i'm just about done with espn, they stink in all sports now. that's why i just listen to podcasts instead of their garbage.

Especially with all the stolen bases. I'm not totally certain, but I think the team leader in stolen bases at the moment is Russell Martin. That and a .360 batting average, and doing just about everything right defensively. Such an impressive young ballplayer. Not that anybody at ESPN noticed.

For Dodger games, I've tried listening to the play-by-play on the radio (Vin Scully) over the ESPN broadcasts, but now that they delay TV by as much as ten seconds (thanks to Janet Jackson), it's become almost impossible to use that work-around. I thought it was doubly horrible to allow the ESPN blabbermouth squad to broadcast the game on such an important historical day for the Dodgers. Who picked these meatheads over Vin Scully?

For serious. I only watched about 30 minutes of it (about 1/2 through) before I turned it off (I did see the ball boy get jacked in the face). They are AWFUL. So much bull !#$# is spewed forth it amazes me. Thank god ESPN hates the Braves, or I'd have to hear that more often.

As usual, I recorded the game and watched it on fast-forward later that night. But I did watch bits of Hank Aaron. And you're right, I was surprised to find that I got sick of it pretty fast. One thing that always impressed me about Hank is that he never seems to enjoy talking about his own accomplishments. He always wants to talk about how important Jackie was, what a tough player Frank was.

And how about Joe Morgan kissing Hank's a**? Calling him the "greatest living player," despite the fact that he's on record saying (many times) that Willie Mays is the best player he ever saw? Maybe he changes his mind when the guy is sitting next to him.

I thought Randy Wolf was allowing way too many baserunners and he's lucky he didn't get stung. I really liked seeing the Dodger offense spread out and everyone contributing though. And that ballboy getting clocked was pretty wild. I bet Vin talked about putting helmets on all the guys in foul ground again.

He must have been knocked out cold, the way he just toppled over. I doubt a helmet would have helped in that situation -- the ball caromed off the fence and hit him square in the face. One of the strangest things I've ever seen in a ballpark. Still I'm not sure that they shouldn't be handing out helmets to the fans in the field-level seats. I was at the game on Friday. One rocket foul ball mowed down fans on the third base side like grass. I don't think anybody was hurt, but it did remind me how much a prefer our seats in the reserve section behind home plate. Fouls hardly ever come within two sections, which is fine with me!

yes, they hate the braves. i think they only like the yankees, red sox and mets. they will be having fun next weekend with the series that determines baseball good and evil apparently. they stuff down these teams down your throat and want you to like the red sox and hate the yankees, as if they are nesn. if you like the yankees, you are evil, if you hate the yankees, you're a good red sox fan apparently. they talk yankees red sox so much it makes me sick, and they act like there are no other teams. both of them are evil as they spend too much $$$ and just disgusting. they will make sure you watch, and then the other teams are just blah. sometimes i feel that they think everyone lives in the northeast. i think we need to succeed the midwest and eastern seaboard from the nation and place a capital in denver for our new nation, lol.

i think giants-dodgers is the better rivalry, that's hate there.
