Sox win 1-0.

here's a couple of fun facts.

Today is the first time since 1963 that games at Fenway and Wrigley have both finished 1-0 in the same day.

The last time the Giants played the Red Sox at Fenway Park was the 1912 World Series. The Red Sox won the series in 8 games, 4 games to 3 games to 1 tie.

oh, what a surprise. Even the Fox postgame show is still sucking Bonds dick even after he went 0-4 today. I loved Oki's strikeout of Bonds in the 8th. :D

They're just really desperate for power. It's going to be interesting if they find any worthwhile trades. You just know they'll have to overpay.

Not actually desperate I hope. When hear names like Dunn and Dye floated, I worry. These aren't really upgrades to anyone the Dodgers have right now, and especially not Dunn.

I think that Nomar and Pierre are really the only regulars that are significantly underperforming right now. Kent is on the long downhill slide and really not doing much worse than expected. Ethier also has regressed, but that's not uncommon for a sophomore year. I think Luis Gonzalez has come on lately and is in some ways a little better than he was last year in Arizona. Martin, of course, is hitting even better than last year. I think Kent takes more pitches than Nomar does, not that that's saying much.

You could make the argument that Pierre and Nomar are better than their current numbers and they're bound to improve, in which case the end of their slumps will be about like trading for better hitters. On the other hand, Nomar could always get hurt again. And honestly, I'm not sure Pierre really is that much better than today's stats. Pierre swings so weakly it reminds me of a toddler trying to use a wooden bat.

I know you're not a big Juan Pierre fan, and probably neither am I, but come on -- if he can hit .300 and steal 50 bases, then his baby swing isn't really an issue. He's made a pretty good career as a slap hitter and a base stealer. That's all we need from him.

Kent is in decline, but not by as much as we're seeing right now. Nomar's total lack of power this year is surprising, considering that he's apparently healthy. I'm not too concerned about him going down with an injury with Loney waiting impatiently in the wings. The Dodgers have the luxury of depth. Down the stretch it comes in very handy -- another reason why I don't want to see them squander a good prospect for some middling power-hitter. Ethier, I'm not worried about, at least not yet.

And now, back to the Yankees and Red Sox play-by-play, which is always in progress...

the braves won again!

and Griffey hit 2 more homers! now he's only 2 shy of McGwire.

"He just missed four [home runs] tonight. Unbelievable. He's still one of the better hitters in baseball. You feel like every time up, he's going to give you a good at-bat." -- Reds manager Jerry Narron

Don't know how you could miss them?
Good find, how'd you get them? I googled chop team, braves girls, and chop chicks, but got nothing. I couldn't find them on braves.com either.

They're even better in person. :D
I actually got to meet one of them, they do other modeling jobs, and she was working at a casino night I was dealing for, so I taught her how to play Black Jack.
perverts. how about pics of cute baseball players, like fookie and peavy?
Number of guys in this thread... like 12
Number of girls... 1

Law of numbers. ;)

IJ, I'm not a big Dye supporter, but I don't see how Dunn isn't a major upgrade in power over anyone on the Dodgers right now. He has hit 40 plus homeruns the last three years. Anyone on the Bums' roster come close?

Heck, I'd love to have him in SF hitting behind Barry. Maybe the Giants could figure out how to score some runs with him in the lineup.

I understand he has a huge contract that will bother teams, but if you want home run power, he's one of few legit guys out there on the market. And he's only 27!

ugh, Barry Bonds* just hit homerun 748. :/

Sox are leading 8-4 though in the top of the 6th.

Dunn is a career .250 hitter. In that department, he's a downgrade to every starting Dodger outfielder. He plays left field (only average defensively). Gonzales signed with the understanding that he was the starting left fielder. I suppose if the Dodgers could get Dunn for a couple of years, it might be worth trading Gonzales, but only if. I'd howl if they got rid of either Ethier or Kemp.

come on yankees. just one more win before i start rooting against you again...5-0 yanks, but espn is talking about yankees vs. sox.

no...first hit for mutts.

You Braves fans better do your part the next 3 games. I don't want those Red Sux winning.

Just let it be known, it was the Braves that resorted to gimmicks to get fans when they where still in Boston. I mean, really, neon foul poles?

Edit: Damn I love my avatar. :D
