You Braves fans better do your part the next 3 games. I don't want those Red Sux winning.

I'm desperately trying to get to the game tonight, but the prices tickets are going for are just insane.
We like to sit somewhere between the two dugouts (lately right behind home plate) or in right field. Our homeplate seats are going for 150 each, our dugout seats are going for 110 each, and our outfield seats are going for 60 each. It's freaking insane.

I'd even be willing to sit in the upper decks, but those tickets (last I checked) were going for 25 each. I think I might go down tonight and deal with a scalper to try to get some tickets.

Now on to the Braves doing their part. We've got James on tonight, so it really depends on which James shows up. Tomorrow is Huddy, we've got a great chance with him on the mound (he pitched amazing in his last start) and we have Carlyle up for the series cap.
One thing should be interesting this series, with Chipper back in the lineup, but not able to hit DH, where do you put him? You have Yunel Escobar knocking the threads of the ball every time he's up, and he's fielding quite well too.

You can't really move Chipper over to first because that would mess up the Saltalamacchia situation.
Something I'd like to see tonight (but I seriously doubt happening) is Chipper making a start at first, and Salty making a start behind the plate. See how hot our bats are from there (a slumping Brian McCann) and then reassess.

i would like to see that. get slumpy out of the lineup.

I don't think he needs to be removed for a long time, maybe another night off and some more time in the batting cages. He's been off his swing for a while now- that HR the other night gave me some hope, but there's something missing there. Which is strange, because he's known for being able to correct issues with his swing quite quickly.

Really, against this Red Sox lineup, we need to insure power and hits are put into our own lineup. Salty can call a ballgame from behind the plate pretty well, and he's hitting well. You can't take escobar out right now, not the way he's hitting. I'd say we put in Harris so he can show some speed and disrupt schilling's train of thought (Harris has no problems getting on base). Maybe get Johnson to steal some bases tonight, lets get aggressive and see if we can't cause some problems for the BoSox.

Ya, I tried to run down a pic for that. Do you have one or a linky?

Here ya go

I know you're not a big Juan Pierre fan, and probably neither am I, but come on -- if he can hit .300 and steal 50 bases, then his baby swing isn't really an issue. He's made a pretty good career as a slap hitter and a base stealer. That's all we need from him.

I think that's a big 'if'. So far we've seen no sign that he's been unlucky or slowed by injuries. I don't have a specific bias against slap hitters, I was just pointed out that HIS recent swing is maybe the weakest I've ever seen by a major leaguer. We have seen him smack some decent line drives, so I know he CAN. It just looks so often like he's intentionally just trying to make minimum contact and beat out every grounder. I haven't seen enough infield hits from him to justify that.

For a guy with so little power, the real issue isn't his batting average but his on-base percentage. If his OBP isn't at least .350, his lack of base hits makes him a drag on the lineup. I knew his arm was weak, but his poor judgment of fly balls has been astounding. And he's been caught stealing too many times too.

In summary, we agree: I'm not a big fan of Juan Pierre!

i could swing better than juan pierre but im 15 and bigger than him.

I have to say it, as much as I dislike the Yankee's, I kind of want them to win the division this season. I guess I've always rooted for the underdog. Thus from heretoforward I will take the yankee's side in the redsox yankee's arguments.

Thank you, that is all.

Apparently hell hath frozen over.

Josh Beckett gets his 10th win and Yankees 9 games back. Good day. Curt got sent to Boston for shoulder testing though :(

Beckett's been the ace of the staff all year in my eyes. Something's def not right with Schilling. Location was awful and never broke 90mph. Nice win and good to see some runs..

Schilling just said on WEEI that the MRI revealed no structural damage. He got a cortisone shot. Asked whether he would make his next scheduled start (against SD this weekend),Schilling said that it looks doubtful. I'd rather he skip one and start at Fenway...

They should give Schilling a start or two off and call Lester up.

Nice win last night, and the Yankees lost. :D
