Why do the yankees even bother starting nieves?
A tired posada, at 10% of his ability is better than him!
Nieves can't hit, and can barely field. The giants have stolen 5 bases from him through 5 innings!
Pitiful... :(

Because you have to give your catcher a break every once in a while. Having to kneel down for the whole game can be tough and you can't do it every day without taking a day off every few days.

Looks like Posada's in the game now.

The Giants also went with their backup catcher today, a longtime minor leaguer pressed into service after the season-ending injury to Eliezar Alfonzo. At least he hit a double and drove in a run.

And the rout is on. Two consecutive errors by Jeter and Melky Cabrera, and Ray Durham follows with a bases-clearing double.

Man, the Giants really needed something to start getting well. Even better when it's against the Yankees. :D

Beckett beat Peavey for an MLB-leading 11-1 :) After today, Sox will be 11.5 games ahead of yankees. Tis a good day.

it's peavy, and it's horrible news. i hate josh beckett with a passion, he's annoying. and peavy didn't do so well today, another loss. and now the padres are out of first, with the d-backs soon to be a game on them.

and talking about teams in first, the muts swept oakland, yuck. looks like the angels are opening up a cushy lead in that division.

You're going to hate him even more when he wins the AL Cy Young this year..
Clemen's going in in relief??Is Torre blowing through his bullpen that much?

Becketts going to choke this year, just like he did last year, right after the all star break ;)
Also, in case you weren't aware, we had to use ALL of our bullpen (except mo) when we went 13 innings against the giants on saturday

Remember, if your team isn't doing so well...at least you're not the Chicago White Sox.

We've lost 22 out of the last 27. Even the Cincinnati Reds are laughing at us.

four shutouts in one week by the braves...i'm starting to think 2007 is going to be way worse than 2006 was. this offense just swings for the fences instead of playing proper baseball, that's what is mainly killing us this year.

yes, pitching>hitting, but when hitting=0, the best pitching in the world can't make this a winning team. and we're doing decent in the pitching department, it's just that we've done squat in the hitting.

and nobody has noticed the angels, those guys are so hot (i listen to angels baseball rants and raves, you should too.) this team i think is going to win it all if this keeps up. i bet saunders goes somewhere else though.

and on the subject of podcasts, on your next post, give us a baseball podcast (not espn or mlb) that we should all listen to, and link to their itunes or web page.

I've decided I'm not going to talk about the braves again until they score 2 runs in a ballgame. Until then, I'll discuss any other team in baseball, but my silent protests of the braves offensive problems will continue. [sarcasm] I mean, come on, it's not that hard to hit a fastball going 97 miles an hour [/sarcasm]

OMFG!!!..Excuse me while I wipe my drink off my monitor..Yeah,ok guy..Uhhh, and yeahhhhh,I was aware of the Yankees using all of their so called "bullpen". That was my point Mr. "I love Roger"..Torre has had a habit of using all of his bullpen all year, even in blowouts. Witness Proctor and Farnsworth,lol..And I thought we paid a lot for a relief man in Piniero..Look at what the Yankee's paid for theirs, lol??? Gimme friggin break.....At some point you gotta acknowledge the Yankees have serious flaws. You can put up all the runs in the world, without pitching, you'll never see October. And if you think this is the same Beckett of last year, you need to take your medication.......

I never said that the yankees didn't have any flaws, their record is evidence of that. I'll i'm saying is that after the all star break, the red sox will cool off, and the yankees will get hot again.
Remember a certain 5 game home sweep at Fenway last year ;)
I know we only have like one series left against the sox, but you can't count the yankees out
Also, I know beckett is looking better this year, but he's not going to be stellar all year, he might not completely crash, but he will choke in more than a few starts :p

My vow of silence worked. The braves have apparently found where they left their bats, Saltalamacchia has 2 home runs (first multi HR game of the career) Andruw managed to hit a ball deep (first extra base hit since june 3rd), lots of hits in the past two inning, lots of well hit balls that have been caught. Hopefully we can get a little something started here before the all star break.

Didn't they make a new rule that the pitcher had 12 seconds to release the ball. Why do I not see any difference.

P.S. Proctor sucks.
