I'm glad Google is finally porting over this app. One of the best features of having an android phone. I too think that Google Play and ITunes Radio is the perfect combination. This is the first time of hearing of Cloud Play for ios. Does it scrobble music to last.fm like the android app does?

Anyone care about the quality of their music?

If I pump an MP3 through my Wilson Speakers, My Pass mono-blocks, over my Nordost cables, will it still sound like crap?

Yes, it will sound very very much like the original MP3 input signal. IOW, like crap.

But you knew that already.

Try pumping it through an iHome clock radio. It will still sound like crap, but you will be expecting that, so it won't be so irritating and disappointing.

YES!!!!!!
This is one of the reason's that I was not wanting to get a iPhone again. I love this service so much! I can upload my music and stream whatever i want. To me its well worth the $10/month

Well, you had spotify and itunes match already. Happy to see you get excited for a quite old technology that has been around (yes, in IOS) for quite sometime now.

Too late....

I was suckered in to Google's intro price with a promise of an iOS app. After several months of service with no app I cancelled.

I've heard that Google's Music service is suffering from the same issue as other streaming services such as Spotifiy and Rhapsody - tracks appear and then later disappear. This is likely due to licensing agreements (or lack of).

Show me a streaming service that is providing licensing agreements with current artists!

Yep I've had this problem with Spotify. A song is there one day and then the next it's gone. Very annoying.

26 million (Apple) to "millions" (Google) is a HUGE difference. Apple might have 2600% more music, until Google tells us what 'millions' means.

Which service of Apple's are you comparing this to?

This is about Spotify vs Google, Jesus its not that hard.....

No, its not whenever I want it. Only as long as you pay, when you stop, you have nothing. With itunes, I own my music. And honestly, I don't give a $%£$ about having access to ALL THE COLLECTIONS, since 95% of the music out there is crap. I know what I like, I buy it, I own it.

Did you expect it to be free? Of course you pay. It's a subscription model. You rent a service, which you can use for as long as you want. Furthermore, there's a ton of subscription models out there with the exact same model.

How anyone picks iTunes over this is beyond me. Google has the best all in one solution. Streaming, radio, my own music, automatic/suggested playlists, etc. I hate how iTunes wants to download the files to your device instead of caching a stream. Google's solution has been perfect for me, plus I can do it all in one app instead of 2 or more.

iTunes Radio is surprisingly enjoyable so far! May drop Slacker soon....

I stream from iTunes to my phone, ipad, etc. without downloading the songs. Yes, there is some space cached, but all the services do that if you look close enough. I have 22,000+ songs, so my iPhone storage is a bit small. To recapture the space, turn iTunes match off, wait a few seconds, and then back on. Space retrieved..

Hmm I use iTunes Match and Spotify and don't miss google at all. Since we're patting google on the back for bringing stuff to ios how about doing the same with Apple for allowing competitive products in the App Store. How many google apps are available on Kindle Fires?

At least Google is providing apps for iOS. Tell me, how many Apple produced apps are available on the Play Store?

I can use nearly all of Google's services on iOS--the same cannot be said about using Apple's services on Android. I have to use third party apps to be able to sync Contacts/Calendars and even then, it's far from perfect. Chrome is on iOS, where's Safari on Android?

Did you even read what I wrote you? Read again. If you believe that 95% of all the music out there is crap, and you rarely listen to new music or try out different genres, than yes, Itunes is probably what you want.

I can see your point

I was pretty sure it was due to DRM, or rather, the lack thereof. Glad there will finally be an app.

Yawn. If it's anything like their current apps, don't expect much. I think Google needs to hire some competent developers before they worry about launching NEW apps.

What the hell is google music.

I'd rather illegally download + iTunes Match, I actually like owning my music (yes, by buying).

Buying tracks (iTunes, Amazon, etc.) is for those who know the songs they like and want to own a specific collection. Nothing wrong with that.

Subscription is for people who love discovery and diving deep into artists' record collections. For an obsessive music fan like me, these services are a dream. For me, they are the best value for anything I buy, no question. This coming from an audiophile with 500+ CDs, who hated the fall of music quality and dynamic range caused by the iPod, and who mourns the decline of SACD and DVD Audio. Even I've come around to the digital revolution... most of my listening is now via Spotify.

I've tried a bunch of these services, and Spotify is still the best from top to bottom. Plus I'm pretty invested with huge playlists and frequent use of 3rd party discovery apps. I also subscribe to Google All Access (in part to lock in the $7.99/month price in case I do switch at some point). The biggest advantage of Google is all of my music + all of their music in the cloud. With Spotify, I have to sync any of my music that isn't in their library to my phone or iPad over WiFi. I'm really looking forward to the native Google app for my iPad. gMusic and the other 3rd party apps are buggy and/or lacking in features.

I first used this app when I tried out an HTC One for about a month. I will say that if you are invested in iTunes, as I am, and you have an Android phone; this is a must-have app. On an iPhone it really doesn't bring anything compelling to the table that's not already there IMO.
