Any idea how to change the push notification sound? Right now, it's just the default Tri-tone and I would love to be able to select another sound.

I'm sure it'll never happen on the iphone, but I'm still wishing for the blackberry/android-type google voice integration where your google voice number works with the native phone/sms/voicemail apps. It's hard to make a full transition to google voice when you still have to route everything through a dedicated app. Baby steps though...

Is the "+(man)" symbol on the dialer not working for anyone else? I assume this is supposed to open up your contacts....

This has the same function as the dialer in the iOS phone app - to add a contact entry for the number you have dialed. It only works after a number has been entered, which is expected.

Yeah I couldn't find it when i searched.

Used this link http://bit.ly/GoogleVapp

Bah.

I guess I don't see the purpose? If it uses Cell Minutes, and you have to pay for international, what good is it? Why not just use Skype?

Google Voice is not about VOIP calls (now, at least), it's is about having a single number you can give to everybody and then you can route the number however you want.

For example: A call from your wife will ring all your phones, a call from work associates will only ring your work phones, screen all calls from unknown numbers, making people say their name, etc.

Free texting is a nice perk and the transcribed voicemails, while far from perfect, give you a quick idea what a message is about without having to listen.

When placing a call it switches to the iPhone phone and calls a completely different number. What am I doing wrong?

Just read, it's not a VOiP?

I agree

I agree with this being much more exciting than the Beatles coming to iTunes. Maybe this was really what we weren't suppose to forget?

That is the add contact button for after you have dialed a number.

I just wish they had a VoIP option especially since you can call out through GMail for free. Maybe it will come later.

I was very excited about this but so far its terrible, GV+ is much much better besides the lack on push notifications. I will be using both for the time being. Google official app for push and thats about it. GV+ for everything else.

are you sure your name is not sean kovacks? Dude, GV+ lacks push, and the last update trashed auto-correct
there is a race condition and texts can be sent to a different recipient when you click on someone before the conversation finishes loading....

and this was free...

Downloaded the app, entered the email and password, then there was this "type in the text shown in the image" thing. I could never get pass that point. Not able to sign in my account at all.

Anyway, a non-working GV app is still way more exciting than BUGs......

local calling uses your ATT minutes, right?

Direct dialing is a NEGATIVE if you have the ATT circle of unlimited minutes in your plan from 5 numbers. Other apps support the non-direct dialing so the calls appear to come from a GV number so it's part of ATT circle of unlimited calls.

Thanks...I guess...I'll need to think more about how I'd benefit. I agree, cool concept long term, if it continues to grow.

App is worthless.

I don't want Google Voice to dial my cell phone when I make a call, I want it to dial my SipGate number. Still stuck with the web option...ug.

Anyone know if you can change the calling out from direct dial to call back like in GV Mobile +?

I agree! This app calls too many numbers at least make it one or two direct dial numbers. I used it four times to make calls so far and got four different numbers. GV Mobile + and GV Connect always call the same "local" direct dial number so they to me are worth the $$$... Only nice feature I like so far is push notifications....
