Have worked full time as photographer for awhile. Also DJ sometimes.

what kind of mac things did you already develop?

I'm actually just getting started on my first commercial venture. Prior to that, I wrote a program for our local scout troop to help them manage Pinewood Derby races. Plus I've done the usual batch of personal projects and experiments designed to teach myself Objective-C/Cocoa (my day job is C#/.Net).

This thread is very interesting - with so many professionals on MacRumors, I can't believe this hasn't morphed into and/or spawned a "Job Posting" thread.

I've seen similar things on other site's forums, where members in HR and executive positions post jobs, and job hunters ask around for referrals.

It would seem like a natural extension of the thread, especially on a site where members are as friendly (most of the time, anyway!) as MacRumors...

I have a friend with the same job.

Want to give your students a challenging puzzle that he told me about? Tell them to figure out how fast their hair grows in miles per hour. Some students won't believe it's possible at first, but if you explain that speed can be expressed using any units of distance and time, they might catch on, and some of them will be able to figure out an approximate answer as a fraction.

Usher at a theatre. Not a movie theatre, the kind with the boring plays ;):)

Unfortunately, this comes close, more than often and desired.

I don't think I've posted on this thread before (apologies if I have). I'm an embedded software developer. I customize OS kernels and develop device drivers, file systems and other goodies to provide a usable platform to the application software that runs our 3G base transceiver station (also known as a Node-B). Mostly a lot of low level C and PowerPC assembly programming.

Graphic Designer/unemployed

oH I have been working at my uncle's grocery store sacking groceries for the past two weeks. :-(

1. Freelance journalist - I research and write for magazines and newspapers on a broad range of topics although I would love to specialise one day.

2. Creative communication - Earlier this year, I established a company that provides media/advertising services in web design, information/graphic design, public relations, copywriting and editing. I'm trying to build a diverse portfolio so I'm currently providing some of these services for free.

Neither of these facilitate a great lifestyle (long hours, low pay, financial insecurity) but I enjoy it, I'm good at it and I'm happier than a pig in s**t.
:)
