yeah i know. it's really not worth it. now if you could have multiply calibrations, and just choose the one you want to use, then that would be great. but you can only have one at a time right now

Yes, that would be great. Nike+ has so much unrealized potential.

On a related note, since swapping my sensor to my new shoes, I've lost about 30 sec/mile off my pace. Guess I'll be recalibrating again...

so you're thinking about a mac pro? i say go for it! but wait until after next week.

sorry, i know it's off topic. now go for a run!

I was planning on it - sold my G5 in preparation in July. In November I picked up a mini to tide me over. I was expecting to buy day one, with the perception that the price points would remian the same as they always have...that was not the case and I am left pondering what to do. The difference in price would have paid for additinal ram and hard drive...which is needed - I also need to update some software to the universal (CS3) so there are more costs for that as well.

I should know by next week though...

how about the 4-core version? That's "only" $2300 base, which comes in $200 below the old 4-core 2.66.

In running news, my new shoes (a model I've worn before) are aggravating the heck out of the little bone below my ankle - it's all swollen! So now I get to go and try to return shoes that I've already run in... methinks they won't like that.

yeah, but that 8-core sure would be nice! :D

well, just show them your ankle when you return the shoes. how long have you had them? if less than a month, don't come back with those shoes

mmm, 8 cores of goodness!

I got em swapped for a new pair which feels a lot better. But the new pair is a model I haven't worn before, so I'm hoping for the best.

I am at a minimum waiting until next week.

What shoes do you guys run in? I have done most of my time in Ascics, but the last pair seemed to be lose on the one heel giving me blisters - I may opt for another brand this month as I am due for a replacement.

Hey guys, really excited about the challenges up ahead...just got my Nike+ kit via post on Tuesday. Would you mind adding me to the 500 mile challenge and the general 25k chalenge? My login is the same on Nike+ - macaddict06. Thanks much, happy miles everyone!

I have run in the Asics 2000 series since the 2020. The 2120s I have now gave me some really bad blisters at first, so I started wearing Brooks Adrenalines, and they are fantastic shoes. But since I wore the Brooks out, I'm running in the 2120s again and am adjusting to them. I also have a new pair of 2130s, which seem really nice, waiting for me in a box.

welcome to the club :)

My running, at least tracking wise, is on hold for a week or so since my Nano and sports kit was stolen and the insurance loss adjuster isn't coming until Wed to discuss replacements.

i'm sorry to hear that. i hope you get everything worked out

I've heard the 2130's are nice but I have to use my pair of 2120's I got for Christmas first.

I'm currently in the Asics camp as well, and I'm happy with them. I went up to my local running store, told them what I was looking to do, and what I liked in the past, and they suggested the Gel Cumulus. Great, lightweight shoe.

State of the Run

Early results for the MacRumors 25,000 Mile Challenge are in
25k-1.JPG

As of right now we have 731.14 miles and it is the 14th of January. We need to average a little more than 2,000 per month. Pace for today would have us at 956 miles. We have 38 members signed up right now with 31 actually logging miles toward this goal. We need more runners! Every mile will count. It is also interesting to note that the top 4 on the leader board almost make up half of this total. I will say this - there is NO way that on Dec. 31st the top 4 runners will have 12,500 miles between them.

The birth month Challenge is a race between June and August with April in 3rd. The lead in this seems to change a few times a week.

Ok - there is the update - now what are you waiting for - get out there and log some miles for toward the 25,000.

Over the course of the year, the length of my runs will increase. I assure you that my February total will eclipse my January total...but we are a bit farther behind than ideal, huh?

yeah, come on people! you don't have to log long runs, just log a short run everyday if you can! something! anything!

the main thing is to be consistent.
