I am the so many-th generation of Apples, in fact I used one of the square box 'real' Apple Macintosh taht said Hello back then. It stayed dumb but was quite smart. After changing emplyers I came in to a global consulting firm, used my windose machine, but bought a Macintosh Portable too for work. Won a big client project with its great capabilities; they even set up a national support environment just for me 🙂. How things work. After many-th steps in corporate IBM and Lenovo portables (really not bad but you need tech support), when on my own again went immediately to the apple shop and bought iMacs and MBP. Now my third iMac - 4K Fusion.
But Catalina spoilt the whole game of 'high trust, no hassle'. The Catalina silently put strings around the Fusion, somewhere inside the fuse broke on the spinning disk. (I know the spinning disk is too slow for the timelimit of the PCIe part, but come on that delay time to wait is just a software parameter!)
Here on the Forum I found good ways around: external clone made by CCC over the Thunderbolt port. Strange to use an expensive Fusion machine just as fuselage. No I won't trust to hitch hike to Big Sur. I will stay on my machine now for hopefully 10 safe years. My wife came to the same conclusion for her machine.
