Same thing applies here. People who constantly tweet their current location or, worse, play that stupid FourSquare game, are at risk of being unfollowed by me

At risk? LOL! I don't think there will be tears if you unfollow that person. They won't even know you're gone.

Nice to see some more quality iPad software. The software experience is where the iPad is going to have a huge lead against the incoming Android-based competitors.

If there's one disappointment for me with my recently-purchased iPad, it's the relative dearth of software that really showcases the iPad experience. Sure, there's some great stuff out there, but I was expecting a flood by now. Where's the native Facebook iPad app? Why are so many of my apps still non-universal/low-res? Where are the games with greater depth? Where's StarCraft/Diablo/Torchlight/etc.? The potential here is huge, and 8 months after the iPad announcement I was hoping to see more progress from developers.

New version CRASHES on iPod touch whenever a tweet is selected. Hoping I can revert back before any more damage is done. Apparently, this app is NOT universal, as advertised.
Same here on iPhone, they need to test these apps better. How can we report this to the developers?

Works fine on my iPhone. Did you guys try restarting your devices before claiming it crashes? Mine didn't need a restart, but perhaps that may solve your issues. I'm running iOS 4.0.2 on a 3GS; the updated Twitter app still works like a charm :)

If you'd like to report the problem to the developer (after making sure you've restarted your device), you can contact him on Twitter (@atebits). Perhaps contact him via the web version of Twitter, if you can't via your iPhone app. He replies to everyone :)

Canada eh?
Doesn't install up here :(

I'm Canadian, installed fine for me. Location shouldn't really matter :p

I can't figure out how you see location info and map like you can when it's on iPhone.

the app is good, but it's not the end all. The problem for me is, it is specific to twitter only (yes I know it's a twitter app) but nowadays, people want an app that post to multiple streams. My app needs to post to twitter and facebook and maybe even to my second twitter account. With this app, I am limited so I probably will stick with tweetdeck for heavy posting, and Flipboard for reading. It is a nice app though.

Oh and I can't stand twitterific. Everytime I click on it, there is some form of twitter api error. None of my other twitter apps do that. No thanks

No, certainly not. Just clever wording on my part. ;) I don't feel any bit of guilt for unfollowing someone after the umpteenth "I'm the mayor of Baskin Robbins!" tweet, either.

Most of the people I follow are my own friends, with a couple of famous figures who have things to say that I'm interested in keeping up with (but not so famous that they hire someone to tweet for them, which defeats the purpose). People like Grant Imahara and Adam Savage from Mythbusters, Wil Wheaton, Bill Amend (creator of Fox Trot comic strip), etc. :)

Will Wheaton. I always think of that family guy episode. Will Hweaton. Why are you emphasizing the H?

This reminds me alot of 10/GUI..

Watch from 3:40 (if you don't want to see the whole thing.)

That looks a LOT like 10GUI: windows don't come on top of each other, but appear next to one another and you're able to scroll between them.

I'm sure the Twitter people used that idea!
It's great to see this new multi-touch interface working nicely on the iPad!

Yes, exactly.

I think Twitter for iPad is brilliant. Loren Brichter found a very good way to map the navigation stack to the iPad. Most iPhone information apps are based on a navigation stack. You select an item from a list which causes a new screen to be pushed on top of the navigation stack. When you are done you press the top left button to pop the current screen off the stack and go back.

The navigation stack is a necessity on the iPhone but isn't a very good use of the iPad's screen space. But the concept of drilling down levels of hierarchy is still good for a Twitter app. So he invented a new way to represent the navigation stack that makes great use of the iPad's screen and multitouch. The information flow is similar to the iPhone app.

I find Twitter for iPad intuitive but the feedback is that not everyone does. Some people have better spatial organization than others. It's not a right or wrong thing, just different.

This app is very well done.

I see no need to use twittelator for ipad anymore.

For those of you saying that Twitter is pointless. Well I agree for the social networking aspect of it. I use to keep track of news and events, that's why this app is great because links are readily available and makes a great browsing experience.

I may be missing something but how do you close the window you get when you click a link in a tweet? Swiping right only seems to move it right.

Has anybody figured how to close a window or is it a design flaw?

The one thing that bothers me about the app is that once a tweet is highlighted it doesn't go away. I really wish I could deselect that tweet.

Edit: Another thing that bothers me, and it's the same way the Mac app acts but I don't constantly quit it and reenter it, is that when you relaunch the app it goes to the top account. Take me back to the one I was viewing.

There needs to be a way to deselect a tweet.

I agree, but then again I have no problem with the interface anyway.

If you really want to reset the view quickly without having to restart the app, just tap another menu item on the "left" menubar. One like "mentions" or "lists" or something and then tap back to the section you want to view.

I think adding a way to deselect a tweet by simply "tapping" on the highlighted one again would be a good idea. One thing I would absolutely hate for them to do is add a close button to the "pages" because that would totally ruin the simplicity of the interface.

Been using it since it came out... not sure but I like FlipBoard far better (still). Maybe for my purposes (following twitter mainly for news and updates) Flip is better.

The point being is that you shouldn't have to switch views or exit the app to remove the highlight. That's bad UI and usability.
