The point being is that you shouldn't have to switch views or exit the app to remove the highlight. That's bad UI and usability.

I agree that they need to add it, but I am still fine with the workaround right now, because honestly I don't even care that the tweet remains highlighted anyway.

It's a very nice interface that has made me use Twitter 10x more than I have previously. Usually when I use Twitter all I do is read what is in my timeline and replies, then maybe post a tweet. With Twitter for iPad I find myself browsing other people's feeds, just randomly exploring Twitter and finding new people to follow. It's definitely the best Twitter app ever made because of that reason alone.

The highlighting and the issue of opening it and having to go to the top account is annoying to the point I can't use it.

Wrong answer. Correct answer is that the ability to deselect a tweet should have been built-in from the start.

Or it was a design decision that when you select a tweet, it becomes kind of a placeholder, like putting your thumb in a magazine. You can simply swipe the "selected tweet" overlay off the screen and move on.

It's not exactly how I would have designed it, but it's not "wrong." It's simply not your preference.

I use Twitter to follow updates from websites I like to visit. It's kind of like a rss replacement. For this use, I find Twitter to be a valuable tool. I dont follow individuals or tweet myself.

If it's not how you would have designed it then it's wrong in your opinion.

Love the interface, but I do have some questions about basic functions:

- how to delete one of my tweet?
- how to delete a PM?
- how to save a search?

All these basic functions exist on the iPhone client (and in Twitterific), but I can't figure out how to use them on the iPad!

Please, let me know!

1) You can't.
2) You can't.
3) Hang on...I have an answer...You can't.

Too bad there isn't any type of push notification present. Gotta check manually for new tweets now.

The good Twitter clients, as far as I'm concerned, will never incorporate push because it complicates the experience. Leave the push to Boxcar.

It wil auto-update for new tweets when you open it and in 4.2 it does fast-app switching just like the iPhone app.

Probably stupid oversights just to get it pushed out.

Why are they "stupid oversights"?

Perhaps they simply felt it was better to delay these features for a future release in order to get the app out - why is this a bad thing?

Sometimes compromises have to be made and I think its far better to get an app out there and follow an iterative development process of pushing out new features on a fixed release cycle rather than trying to get everything done up front (where do you draw the line?).

A few annoying bugs in 4.2 though, like not remembering which @messages and DMs have been read and occasionally your position in the tweet stream. I expect these will be fixed in time for 4.2 final though.

Search IPAD address book for twitter members

Hi,

I am new to twitter and I could swear that at one point twitter for the ipad asked me if I wanted it to scan my address book for people that are my contact and on twitter so I can follow them.

I hvae been searching everywhere in the app and can't find this option. Does anyone know where it is?
