I planned to test it on the flashing PC, but that's still a collection of unassembled components. Last weekend I was busy helping a friend, so it didn't happen as I had planned. This weekend, maybe a trial build up?
I need a heatsink retaining clip thing. I've now ordered one, should be here in time for a trial build up next weekend.
I have a (used) PSU, I've tested that and it appears to work perfectly. I also now have a Creative Labs Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi SB0460 7.1-Channel PCI Sound Card, with gold plated connectors and bracket.

Shiny.

When assembled, the PC might not actually work, but at least it'll look cool.
(still don't have a DOS boot disc)

Now have a heatsink with retaining clip thing and a DOS boot disc, trial build today!

On a side note, anyone know where I can get 20 way and 4 way power cord extensions? (I need something somewhere about 30ish inches)

Ebay and Amazon? They are usually shorter, I have never seen them longer than 15inch... you could by seperate leads and shrink tube, though and cut one of these extenders and put them in; (plus maybe crimps).
Sorry for pointing out the obvious, you probably rather want a dedicated electrics store, right?

TBH, I was thinking of just getting 1 yard of each cable from suppliers on eBay, and splicing into the PSU's wiring.
I've already ordered a length of black braided cable sheath, to make it look professional after.

Hehe, you obviously had that idea before. :)
I also forgot that the cables are black in the MDD, would look cleaner probably, you can of course buy a short coloured adapter and leave just small bits, so you have orientation of the which cable to put where, if you want to preserve the original MDD cable end for later...

Hmm, slight oversight. The board has a 20 pin socket, the PSU I intended to use has a 24 pin plug.o_O
Adapter now ordered. I wonder what else I've missed.

PC's, definitely not as easy as PC fans would have us believe!

Yah, ok. Well ok, I had it wrong, the other way round, you could use the 20Pin black plug of the old original stock MDD PSU cut it off the PSU and attach it to the cables of the adapter, then plug the adapter in the 24Pin ATX PSU, so you have the 24Pin PSU plug intact for later use.

Or you just build the adapter, so you have both the old PSU and the new PSU still intact and only make it compatible via the plugable adapter. Sorry, for confusing.

Anyways, was this already posted http://atxg4.com/mdd.html ? I remember that I had posted a link to an aquamac thread with links to a video to a ATX conversion.

I have seen that in the past and read it, but this is for my GPU flashing PC. Yeah I know, this was a thread just for my MDD, there's been some topic expansion.

I looked at the MDD plug, but it's 24 pin. Not sure, but I think earlier G4's had 20 pin plugs. I threw out a perfectly good G4 graphite PSU end of last year as I had absolutely no use for it then, and couldn't imagine that I ever would. Doh!

Important tip in life, never ever throw anything out, not ever, for any reason, because what you have, you'll never need, but what ever you throw out you'll need later!

I'm using a used but working PC PSU, it has a good selection of SATA, molex and 3.5 floppy drive plugs, it also has a 4 pin processor power plug, plus the 24 pin. I'm happy to use it as it came in a cheap used but not working PC (did I mention it was cheap?). It also came with a couple of other handy bits for this build, 2 nice long SATA cables, a nice length IDE ribbon cable, a memory card reader, some ram (which may or may not be useable), a PCI Fire Wire card and a Creative Labs SB0460 X-Fi 7.1 PCI Sound Card with gold plated sockets and PCI bracket.

Shiny.

Need to order some wires.

Found another Gainward Bliss 7800GS
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gainward-nV...718561?hash=item1eaf754ae1:g:hCEAAOSwampXHls2
But it's too expensive for me!

The pics show MPN: 471846200 7739, which would make this card mac flashable.
However, in the description it is listed as MPN: 471846200 7876, which would make this card not mac flashable.
[doublepost=1461879471][/doublepost]And another!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gainward-BL...384473a&pid=100033&rk=1&rkt=4&sd=262410515291
Also too much for me.

This doesn't show it's rear, but in the description it is listed as MPN: 471846200 7876, which would make this card not mac flashable.

Worth contacting the sellers to see if the descriptions are correct?
[doublepost=1461879909][/doublepost]And a third!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gainward-Bl...040692?hash=item41a97746f4:g:fSkAAOSw1DtXHSgo
Nearly affordable, but not quite.

What do we have here?

P1020074.JPG
Oh wow, it's a Gainward Bliss 7800GS AGP graphics card! But does it have a G70 or a G71 chip?

P1020075.JPG
Well, 7876, so that should be non mac flashable, but I've found a couple of references on teh internetz that some of the 7876 cards have G70 chips in them, so I'll just have to take off the heat sink...

P1020077.JPG
The tension is mounting!

P1020079.JPG
P1020078.JPG
Doh!

Do you ever get déjà vu?

Hmm, it wasn't as cheap as the last one either.

Something I found no teh internetz...

"AHA! Just found this... Typical!

There are 3 types of 7800GS:

Gainward 7685-BLISS 7800GS 256MB TV-DVI AGP
Gainward GeForce BLISS 7800GS
Chip: 7800GT
Memory capacity: 256MB 1,6ns DDR
Clockspeed Core: 375MHZ
Clockspeed Mem: 1200MHZ
Pipes: 20
Gainwards barcode: 471846200-7685

Gainward 7739-BLISS 7800GS Silent 512MB
Gainward GeForce BLISS 7800GS AGP 512MB
Chip: 7800GT
Memory capacity: 512MB 1,4ns GDDR3
Clockspeed Core: 425MHZ
Clockspeed Mem: 1200MHZ
Pipes: 20
Gainwards barcode: 471846200-7739

Gainward 7876-BLISS 7800GS Silent 512MB GS+
Gainward GeForce BLISS 7800GS GoldenSample AGP 512MB
Chip: 7800GT
Core: 450MHZ
Mem: 1250MHZ
Pipes: 24
Gainwards barcode: 471846200-7876"

Looking at my card, it's has the bar code number ending 7876.
I can add this...
It's the later card with a different heat sink and smaller fan, looks cool, runs hotter.

Gainward 8255-BLISS 7800GS 512MB GS+
Gainward GeForce BLISS 7800GS GoldenSample AGP 512MB
Chip: 7900GT
Core: 450MHZ
Mem: 1250MHZ
Pipes: 24
Gainwards barcode: 471846200-8255

Also, everyone knows that the 7800GS+ was the card from Gainward that fitted a G71 chip on a card with an AGP connecter, right?
I just found out the also made a 7900GS AGP card too!

Same heat sink as the above. Very similar over all, but runs slightly faster (and hotter?)

Gainward 8453-BLISS 7900 GS Golden Sample
Gainward GeForce BLISS 7800GS GoldenSample AGP 512MB
Chip: 7900GT
Core: 510MHZ
Mem: 1400MHZ
Pipes: 24
Gainwards barcode: 471846200-8453

Here is the one I found on eBay...
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Gainward-Nvi...179030?hash=item25bbc71f56:g:5kMAAOSw2x1XL3Zy

Plus, I have found a couple of references to 7876 cards that have a G70 chip under the heat sink.
I wonder if any 8255 cards have a G70 chip hidden inside?
Perhaps even 8453 cards? Anyone know more?
[doublepost=1463051081][/doublepost]This looked cool, but it's too much for me...

Found this while searching british eBay, even more expensive than the above. And again, it appears to be the non flashable 7800GS+ card, with the G71 chip. (£69.95 (British) = US$102.3299, at time of posting this)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gainward-...DR3-AGP-8x-DVI-TV-Graphics-Card-/262410515291

On a side note, I've read a number of people claim to have an x1950 running on their G5, but is it thinkable to run an x1950 AGP on a G4? (flashed of course). It would be awesome if it worked!

I found an X850XT on aBay...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sapphire-Ra...676142?hash=item464e9dd0ae:g:hacAAOSwUfNXRtvt

...it's not a Platinum Edition (16 pipeline), but here's a link to a How To that allegedly explains how to convert it.

http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/overclocking/vidcard/100

I have nothing to do with either, and have never attempted the 16 pipeline conversion myself, but if someone wanted to give it a go, they could report any success/failiure here?

Here's some X850 PRO cards, that also can have the same conversion, allegedly.

I just discovered the Dell WC192, a 6 channel SATA PCI-X card made by Adaptec. Also known as the OXD084 and OH2052.
It has 3 silicone image chips on board. Anyone know if it's mac flashable? Are there mac drivers for it?
Looking at the few pics where the numbers on the chips are clear, it looks like this uses sl3512 chips.

That does not work. The SIL chip interfaces with the onboard controller, which then interfaces with the computer. It is also really old, and is quite terrible.

Mac compatible SATA cards with more than two channels are tough to find, and I don't know if there are any with more than 4 channels.

The description doesn't mention it, I can read basic German and it's mostly about it being a private sale, and something about warranty. If you want to ask the seller about the product, I'm sure there's a German MR user that could help you.
