I hope they never come out with one so you can whine. That would be funny.

If that happens, I will be OK with that. I sold both my jailbroken on 3.1.2 3GS iPhones a week ago knowing full well that an iPhone 4 jailbreak "might" never happen.

Read my post history, I only whine about immature, give it to me now, I'm not gonna do any reading or research people who expect to be handed everything and spoonfed information.

As with many, many things in my life, the ability to jailbreak is a gift and a blessing. If it comes, great, if it doesn't, I can certainly live without it (just not as much fun, that's all).

Personally, I've always wondered why they use twitter. It makes it as easy as possible for them to see constant complaints and questions about when it'll be done, and as easy as possible for people to complain and ask when it'll be done.

It's the worst of all worlds, with the exception that you can get progress updates to the complainers faster. If I was one of these guys, I'd quit too.

LOL...finally, someone with some sense. Good god, why does anyone use twitter anymore? It's the lowest common denominator of the web. Further, why are people complaining here about people complaining on twitter? I must have missed something. Thankfully. :D

If they walk away im sure someone else will step up and take their place. Besides, it's their choice they are doing this for everyone for free. It's not like they've been drafted for this work. They chose it because there is obviously something they get out of it.

I, for one, would gladly pay $50 for a jailbreak. I am sure many more would too (it would pay for itself after just 3 months after cutting AT&T out). If they truly wanted to make money on this they easily could. Heck, they could even sell their work/code to a software company for a nice lump sum and walk away comfortable, if not rich.

I'd recommend for them to cash out while they can. I got a feeling the demand for their work will drop substantially now that many countries are getting unlocked phones and other carriers in the US may get the iPhone too. There will be a day, probably in the next 2 to 3 years when jail breaking will lose it's appeal to the masses (whose primary concern is carrier unlocking) and again become the domain of power users and hobbyists.

jailbreaks didn't used to be a packaged thing for mass consumption. i remember having to follow like 30 steps of complicated instructions to jailbreak my original iphone. all prefaced with "THIS COMES WITH NO WARRANTY AND IT MIGHT BRICK YOUR PHONE"

the fact that i have to wait for it to be packaged to a point where a monkey can open the program and click the button is what irritates me.

geohot got his ipad and had cydia installed the same day. the dev team had cydia on the iphone 4 the day of the launch.

i dont care if it's unstable. i dont care if i risk having to restore my iphone. i dont care if it's tethered. i dont care if you dont want to help me figure out the instructions or help me fix my iphone when i break it. all i want is to be able to access the files on my iphone.

Lol! I remember, after a few hours of trying to jailbreak, how satisfied I was that I finally did it! Kind of made it feel like you're a hacker too!

It was fun and the payoff was sweet!

And thanks to all the guys out there working on a jailbreak!!!!!

I think if they forced people to pay for it, they would get a lot more attention from Apple than they do now...

Plus if you payed $50. for it and then it was killed from an update you would have a reason to bug the DEV team. They would never get any rest.

I wish! Maybe then I wouldn't spend so much money every month on prescription medication and 60's punk records.

Personally, I also think it's fairly self-centered to wish it would go back to the "good old days" when you needed to type in three dozen command line operations while reciting from the magic book of incantations to jailbreak. What does that solve, exactly? Everyone should be able to jailbreak by clicking a button, just like with Spirit! Perhaps Apple would finally get the hint that people expect a little more from their expensive toy and that 1984 commercial wouldn't be such an industry joke.

I agree, I would rather have a hard, may brick your phone, five hour and 30 step process, so it would keep all of the dumb people out of it.

Are you kidding me go back and search blackra1n, Purplera1n and Spirit and see how many dumb and basic questions were asked ;). Many people are so lazy they don't even try to find a tutorial or check the Dev-team blog or even twitter. like I said before if somebody can't google a tutorial or search youtube then they shouldn't jailbreak. will that stop them (no) will it stop them from asking (no)

that's not why they do it

they don't take money because

they do it mostly for fun.

Much harder for Apple to go after them if there making money..

by principle they don't want to charge people they feel it should be free. this is why they get so pissed at these scam jailbreak sites, I also gonna guess part of the reason for Geohot leaving.

and after the rest since they want to have lives and I think part of it true what you said. just worded wrong. but what ever.. I find it funny everybody hating on the Dev-team then the day it gets released all the love will be back..

What would be even more funny is the reaction if Geohot did ("did", not saying he will) manage to come out with a jailbreak.

I agree with the General, I first JB and unlocked my iPhone 2G when it was 30 some steps and things didn't work as described and you had to restore 3 times, etc. It was a lot more fun and it made JB a bit more special.

Like General says if geo and the dev team had a JB in 1 day, obviously those instructions could be posted pretty easily for those of us willing or experienced enough to use. Just post a bunch of use at your own risks. I feel like those of us who could do the 30 step method are being lumped in with the noobs waiting for a 1 click solution which we do not need.

I know the dev team wants to impress with a 1 click solution for JB and unlock both and that will look fantastic when its released, but it would have been more impressive to me to post a JB method (admittedly 30 steps) day 1 of release instead of over a month later...

Guess you guys missed planetbeings saying on thet fact that they're busting ass working on the jailbreak, not the GUI everyones getting worked up about.

Those idiots among us who are whining and crying better knock it off, sounds like planetbeing "could" be the next one to walk away.

Its not going to stop. Not to be a downer, but im sure 95% of the beggers are foreign people who cant speak english well.

This is why I love you lizard:

What? He's talking about the jailbreak in general. He could be working on the GUI, could not. We don't know. We all are assuming that they will make it one click as shown before, so there is a good chance this one will be one click as well. Majority of us would agree that we would not prefer the one click method.

Hell YA we would. I remember PSP hacking and Xbox hacking before that or Wii hacking today, it's such a pain in the ass and there is always the chance you will brick it and have to start over or be screwed over. The 1 click method is soo much more convenient.

Planetbeing, Musclenerd, Devteam and Geohot.....one picture describes them.

Quit your bellyaching and charge money for it!

People who can't figure out their own exploits are complaining that the people who can have not released it yet. Brilliant.

There are two simple solutions, if you do like how something is being done, do it yourself or pay someone to do it for you. If you can't do that then you don't want it bad enough.
