Give it a test drive via a prepaid sim before you commit, especially if you have a family plan. See for yourself - don't rely on what others say as everyone has unique usage patterns. TMO may work well in your area. Then again, it may not and you'll be sorely disappointed. Speaking from experience....I'll switch to T-Mobile

Yes, of course, which is why I think he(she) should give it a test run if at all possible before committing. AT&T worked very well for me but I was frustrated with to no end with TMO, as was my family. The money I was saving wasn't worth all of the dropped calls, weak/no service, etc that I didn't experience before. I could've avoided all of that had I done a test run, which I regret not doing. That's all I'm saying.Wouldn't that be the case for every carrier?
No matter what their ads and commercials claim every place and carriers service will vary by location.

I agree and think we're on the same page. Anyone would be stupid to pay more for marginal service when they can get the same or better service at a lower price. I only mentioned TMO in my post was because he mentioned switching to them in his. My main point was that choosing a carrier based solely on cost may prove not to be the wisest decision in the end.Yes, people should do the same for every carrier.
Not just for Tmobile.
Just because you pay more for AT&T or Verizon doesn't mean you get good service everywhere and its not worth it to have dropped calls or weak service and still pay an arm and a leg. If you're catching my drift![]()

In my defense back in 1999 I had no f*ing clue about cell phones and carriers. The Samsung SCH-3500 my wife and I wanted at the time was only offered by Sprint at the office store we were shopping at.Yes, if that was the case I'd be on Sprint for many years like @eyoungrenlol

We didn't have a data plan until 9 years later and it was only at that point that the terms 3G, 1xRTT and LTE came into my awareness. Up until that point all we used our phones for was calling (no, no texting either) and Sprint handled that just fine.

LOL!Lmao
Don't tell me you had a sidekick too?
We're showing our age bro.
I'm gonna dump att soon, this crap is unacceptable, just got my first bill under the new unlimited plus and my bill is $30 more!!! It use to be cheaper under my older grandfathered account...on the website it said it was going to be $10 more...of course their taxes and fees gonna bite you.
I'll switch to T-Mobile, their $25 DIRECTV discount is not worth it when I can save close to another $40 if I were to switch to T-Mobile.
So been holding out on this one for a while (its definitely paid for itself over the past few years as carriers have gone through the Unlimited->Tiered->Unlimited transitions).
Now that carriers have finally come full circle, seems like its time to finally get rid of this old plan and jump to ATT's new unlimited plan. With the recent hike current price I am paying is $95, so it looks like the new unlimited plan is $5 cheaper at 90.
Any other holdouts on here? What are you guys planning on doing?
(and before I get any comments about how ATT sucks and there are way cheaper carriers...I know, but I have and old corporate lifetime discount on the line which gives me 20% off so I'm paying closer to $70).
How did your taxes/fees go up so much? Did you have a discount on your grandfathered account?
Thinking of dumping my grandfathered udp for the unlimited plus.
The UDP legacy is going to be $45 as of this month (March 2017). They just keep raising the price...am i missing something here? i thought the grandfathered ATT unlimited plan was $40? they increased $5, $5 and then $5.

Correct. They only continue to support a FAN discount on the original Unlimited Data plan they announced last month on Feb. 16.I called today and I was told that they will not honor FAN discounts on the new plan, the new plan goes into effect on the 2nd.

On the two newer versions: AT&T Unlimited Plus and AT&T Unlimited Choice, there are no FAN discounts.

New unlimited plans do have tethering which may be worth something but overall it's not a "better deal"

But if you combine it with a FAN, then those $40 turn into much less. Personally, it makes no sense to dump my grandfathered as I would end up paying more... much more.
It was originally $30/mo, then it went up $5 last year and now another $5 this month (March 2017). As a result, it is now $40/mo prior to any FAN discount you may have. The UDP legacy is going to be $45 as of this month (March 2017). They just keep raising the price...

If that is cost of your service with the latest price increase (and without a FAN discount), you have a very good deal. Mine is now $80/mo after the increase, so it is still not worth it to me to give up the grandfathered UDP. Tethering would be a nice bonus, but for me, it's not worth the extra $10/mo.Holding out still. My bill is 70 bucks a month with the grandfathered plan. No plan has come close to matching the old one.
