It's okay, because the iPhone 9 won't be available to ship till Oct-Nov of 2018. So it all times out.
I would be fine with that, but it seems weird to deliver your premium product a couple months after your standard product every year. I just don't want the new model to be out and be unable to get it or have to pay off the difference when it was Apple's fault it was delayed.

Aint no mountain high enough:D, i'd wait till it arrives on my doorstep. That being said 'am drawing the line at 2017

Integrated TouchID in the display exists, Apple has the patent so why not? I don't think Apple would leave it in the lab because they fear "it would look bad" to some to drop TouchID for one iPhone model only to bring it back in a more advanced way a year later.
Again anything is possible. Apple hasn’t removed a feature they’ve already had one year only to put it back the next. I think it would also be pretty disruptive to have people using Touch ID for five years, takenit one year, and add it back the next.

As always first time for everything I guess. I just don’t see it. Lord knows I’d love thebheadphone jack back lol.

rumors or not, this is embarrassing for APPLE. You have had so many years to develop and get the product to prototype. You waited until the last minute to scratch the in screen home button and this will cost you Billions of dollars. How can Samsung get their phones out without delay but with you every phone has a back order, but the iPhone 8 isn't even out yet and you are delaying shipping. By 2017 you should have more warehouses to build and make these iPhones that back ordered aren't a problem anymore.

This will be the most embarrassing Apple launch ever!!! Delays... change of plans.. not being able to implement the Touch ID in the display... very disappointed if all of this is true. Having the 7s before the 8 is a non sense!! People outside apple world won't want to buy a four years old design phone !!! And the people inside Apple world will wait until the 8...

If there at the very least, extreme shortages then Apple may price the phone way above all expectations to ensure that people go for the 7s. The last thing they want is for people to pass the 7s and wait for the 8. That would be disastrous for sales figures

You do realise this site literally has the word "rumours" in the title?
if you want to be so literal:
What does this iPhone rumor have to do with the "Mac" Rumors? It's not "iPhonerumors.com", it's "macrumors.com". You do realize this, yes?
What do these articles have to do with "Mac" or "rumors":
Fitbit Announces Deal to Bring Glucose Monitoring Data to its Ionic Smartwatch
Spotify Announces First Live Music Event in the U.K.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Reviews: 'Beautiful' Display and Solid Dual Rear Cameras at Premium Price

No not really. The iPhone is a premium phone and needs premium features.
I want oled and dual camera with ois in my premium phone that I pay a premium price for and I don't want it to be the size of a house. I don't want to be shafted by Apple.

Look at it another way at the extreme to make a point.
Say the 7s is $750 USD and they make the 8 $2000, extreme I know, but will you be pissed off?
No I wouldn't be pissed off; I wouldn't buy it. Apple isn't under any obligation to appease me. They put out a product, me, you, and everyone else has the choice to buy it or not. Seems pretty simple to me.
You can cry "I want" all day long, it doesn't matter or change anything.

I doubt it. The ones that trickle out early will be worth double to some people. Especially if they are in still very short supply leading up to Christmas.

Be very interesting how Schiller and Cook tip toe around this failure on Tuesday. Failure by their supply team and engineers as far as timeline. Other businesses probably wouldn’t hold an event yet if there was this amount of delay for the anticipated product, but, in the name of solely getting their quarterly financial numbers up, Apple will still hold an event and get the preorders counted up and paint a rosy picture for investors.

And, see how much they awkwardly pump up the 7s.

The nice thing about dealing with rumors is you can just ignore the rumor. Tim and Phil will say ... iPhone 8, What iPhone 8? They would not even mention the missing product this Tuesday if it is not ready. Tim and Phil would not even have to deny it. It was all a rumor. Built in unaccountability. I do not believe anything Apple says anyway because it is all marketing hype.

If the displays can't be manufactured in any quantity how is it an Apple fault?
If you don't make everything in the phone, and even if you do, there is a limit to how fast things can be built.

Some things just aren't possible and have limitations in physics and/or other areas.
If you can't make it at a reasonable price, you can't sell it.

No, you are looking at it wrong. The 8/X/Edition/Acme will be the new flagship model. The 7s/+ will become the new middle tier. It's simply a shift in the model lineup, nothing more. The 7s will get upgrades as s models normally do but there will be a higher level model that will have additional or enhanced features.

It similar to how once upon a time there was a 3 series BMW and an M3. Then BMW introduced the M Sport Pkg. which sat between a regular 3 series and the exclusive M3. BMW did do anything to change the 3 or M3 it just introduced a new pkg that offered addition "sporty" features over the base 3, but less than the M3.
That's a bad tactic because they started out with the 7 and 7 Plus, along with the 6 and 6s being refined. The 7 plus was the flagship model and consumer accessible. Taking that away from consumers is a bit of a letdown, shortening demand (for obvious reasons I understand, but they could've waited a year and refined it if they were that constrained). I understand no ones stopping me from buying one, however I shouldn't have to refresh 90 times and go through site errors and sites going down to get a phone that won't ship for 3 months after getting in 5 minutes late, let alone the poor people who wait in line. It's ridiculous.

Release the 7S. Release the 8 next year and create the X edition made of gold/silver/platinum or whatever for the rich like they did with the Apple Watch. Plenty of people bought it and they made tons off it. If that all fails.. the Note 8 is looking rather pretty and is a Wacom infused drawing tablet for artists.

Some people prefer Android to iOS, but 80-90% of people I know who switched from iOS to Android switched back to iOS after 1-2 years.

I have a buddy who has done this for about the past 3 years. When the note8 was announced, I sent him the link saying "it's that time of year again." Although apparently this year he is done swapping xD

I don't doubt that I would come back, I'm just feeling pretty stale and some of the rumors/comments about this OLED iphone essentially being this ultra expensive exclusive that will be in super short supply have me concerned. Hell, people calling it the iPhone "Edition" has me irked enough because of how dumb it sounds. I thought the same moniker was stupid for the Watch.

But of course Tuesday will tell and I'm sure a lot of these silly things are going to be snuffed by Apple. It's just a matter of how it looks / what it offers vs cost.

I hope this new display tech trickles down to a pocket-size iPhone at some point. Not all of us want to tote a baby tablet around all day.

What sort of crazy business model wouldn't release around this time of year? Push the shipping date too much and you lose customers, it's that simple.

Every single release has been the Friday after the keynote, so that's a fairly safe bet.
The main phone they're releasing this year, the 7s (perhaps they'll shake up the naming), will, indeed be released right on time, to fit in with past practice. The "iPhone Edition" (aka "8") will ship when it ships. Many folks seem to be missing the distinction between the new main phone and the new premium phone. It's a different thing they're starting, having a separate premium model, and the existing rules don't apply. But the new revision of the standard model, the 7s, will be right on time, just like clockwork.

Without delays, just explosions. Ill take the former.

8 too expensive for you? Don't buy a 7S, buy a discounted 7.

Don't reward Apple for this faux-premium stuff, the 8 should be the standard phone and the 7S shouldn't even be a thing.
I have a suspicion that Apple has seriously misjudged the market on this one. I can't imagine why anyone that thinks the iPhone 8 is too expensive would buy an only marginally cheaper 7S, instead of looking for the most savings on a discounted 7. I don't think the market for the 7S is going to be as big as Apple thinks it will be.

What is Apple taking away with the 7s? What is being removed from the 7s that is on the current 7? I haven't read those rumors so enlighten me.

The new features that'll be on the 8 or "x" edition that won't be on the 7S. The + models generally are the higher tier models and most likely won't have oled, the better camera according to rumors and people here.

However they are rumors.. so we'll see the 12th.

Seems they have forgotten since the Note 8 has broke preorder records....Thanks

Most people loved their Note 7 and didn't want to give it up...hence the skyrocketing preorder sales.

LOL Its hard to impress me with preorders when Apple will sell more iPhones in 5 minutes then Samsung will sell the rest of the year.
