If the iPhone 8 costs £1000 I'm going to be getting the 7S.
Going by the rumours, there's a good chance it will be over £1,000. No way I'd pay that for a phone, even though a phone is the most used item i'd own. I wouldn't even feel comfortable getting the 7S, knowing it was Apple's 'second-tier' phone and having waited 3 years since my last iPhone purchase. I've already got one eye on the Note 8 and if all the rumours on the price and design come to fruition, I'll feel comfortable switching over to the other side.

So....

* Ships later than the 22nd
* No Touch ID
* Weird looking notch thing
* $1,000 price tag
* Wireless charger won't be fast charging
* Charger in box is apparently just a standard speed charger

All of the above are obviously rumors, but if they become true then it's really discouraging and make the Note 8 look very appealing.

I'm not a iPhone fan at all but Apple should know that their fanbase has been looking forward to a OLED iPhone for the past few years. Why would they not have their shipments in order. The OLED iPhone should have been a first priority and should be the absolute first phone shipped and delivered to their customers.

I would be mad.....they have enough resources to not allow this to happen...no excuses.

Still a little weird that normally the flagship would be the 7s, but they're also gonna introduce a bigger flagship product. And then I don't see how they call it the 8.

Apple and most of the industry bet on IPS LCD for the longest time.

Meanwhile, Samsung booked up all the equipment and materials suppliers needed for OLED manufacturing.

Apple moved the location of Touch ID and then removed it completely.

Who the hell wants a 7s?
I didn't want to just post but the answer will "probably be:"

If you still want a physical fingerprint scanner then you get the iPhone 7s, maybe the last with that mechanism?
iPhone 8 might be some newer scanner or none, and just facial, where as the 7s might have BOTH? so, hmm think about it maybe...

Facial + No-Bezel + No-Finger = 8
Facial + Finger + Bezel = 7s

Laters...

Apple's been doing a lot of over-promising and under-delivering over the last couple years. Becoming a bit disillusioned as of late. Even briefly considered a Note 8, but (fortunately for Apple) I have too much invested in Siri/HomeKit, my Apple Watch, etc., to change to a different phone platform.

Why? Even the year old 7+ is better than a Note 8:

* better operating system (IMHO)
* screen has better outdoor visibility and viewing angles
* almost twice the CPU performance
* better camera
* longer battery life
* the finger print sensor is not on the fscking back

Going by the rumours, there's a good chance it will be over £1,000. No way I'd pay that for a phone
If you're price sensitive, next week the 7+ will be available at discounted prices – far cheaper than the Note 8.

They better not screw Apple Upgrade customers next year when we go to buy the new one and they tell us "oh you've only had this phone for 10 months"

Really curious how this will be handled, as a iPhone upgrade program day one customer. I got my Jet Black 7 plus approximately 2 weeks after launch day this year, and was told that should be close enough for them to allow me to upgrade in a grace period, or pay a single payment difference worse case.

This will get significantly more messy assuming a 2-3 month or more delay to get the OLED iPhone 8, especially if they release the new model on time next year.

I heard the naming will be iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone Edition. I believe there could be a shortage for the iPhone Edition, but they will give a time frame like early October. They can't have an event, and the most interesting product has no ship date. If that is the case, they should have moved event to October.

I'm going to be pretty irritated if I get this new iPhone in October or November and next year they tell me I'm not eligible for my iPhone Upgrade Program swap until October or November.
That is my concern as well! there are cycles for this exact reason

Does anybody know if those preorders would include the "Unlocked" versions? Like, not attached to a x-year contract with x company (???)

I've seen other years that first months its only with x celullar companies, and it's only later that they start offering it Unlocked.

Makes 100% sense. To launch with scance stock would be a disaster. Better to wait a month and build up stock. Question is will they still have the preorder the Friday after the keynote or at a later date closer to launch.

I'm certainly not getting it if the price is £1000. I'm happy with the 7 for another year, but I desperately want an upgraded SE.

Though Some of that is a little disappointing to me, absolutely none of it will make an android OS device look appealing.
