So in essence you're saying I'm a liar without using that word? Just had this exchange with radon. Got it.

However if you do a web search for oled burn in, there are more than enough pictures out there, granted may not happen on all phones...

the gs7 gives you headaches! got it.can you back that up with any scientific proof as to why it gives you headaches and back that up with others saying it also.

Maybe the old LCD technology is better than oled when it comes to dependence, cost, lifespan and reliability?
Then the questions arise. If ALL OLEDs suffer from burn in

1.Why is almost the entirety of the Android ecosystem on OLED?
2.Why does the Apple Watch use OLED
3.Why is the top end iPhone using OLED while the low end ones get LCD which will no doubt be phased out in iPhone 9 once OLED supply constraints Apple is currently facing are sorted?
4.Why is the S7 Edge display and Samsung displays in general getting the "Best screen on the planet" award in multiple websites?

OLED uneven wear is undeniable, except if you don't use the display on the phone. For now, I would rather have LCD technology, unless there is a trick up apple's sleeve and eliminates the burn-in and pentile display.
Burn in only arises in a unrealistic scenario of using a phone on max brightness constantly on 24x7 and that too after years of using them like that.Majority of the time, the phones going to be dumped long before this happens in normal use cases.Who uses phones after 2 years anyways?

These displays have undergone rigorous health testing before shipping and no such incidents were reported. If such issues existed widespread there would be mentioned in the manual "If you are facing dizziness, headaches then discontinue use and meet a doc" . This quote is mentioned in several games and on VR headsets.

And to close the book on this one,Apple is using Samsung displays so they dont think it causes health issues either

EDIT-Another confirmation of Apple using Samsung EXCLUSIVELY

https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...8-inch-oled-displays-for-2017-iphone.2024558/

BTW if its the saturation that causes headaches to you you can use the Basic screen mode and it will look pretty much identical to the iPhone display.THIS IS the flexibility that OLED enjoys so everyone can be happy

the reason why he gets headache's is because he is trying his hardest and squinting to try to see the pentile diamond pixels but just can't and gets insanely bad headache's lol

You want me to backup a headache with scientific proof?

Nobody knows exactly what apple is doing. "MacRumors.com".

I venture to say, probably more consumers than that general statement will lead you to believe.

Cell phones have undergone rigorous health testing and yet rumors and actual cases of brain cancer don't seem to go away.

And to close the book on this one,Apple is using Samsung displays so they dont think it causes health issues either

EDIT-Another confirmation of Apple using Samsung EXCLUSIVELY
Yep, just another rumor of something. We'll see.

Nobody knows exactly what apple is doing. "MacRumors.com".
But this is Apple's opinion from the big man himself (Jony Ive)

"He picked up his iPhone 6 and pressed the home button. “The whole of the display comes on,” he said. “That, to me, feels very, very old.” (The iPhone 6 reached stores two weeks later.) He went on to explain that an Apple Watch uses a new display technology whose blacks are blacker than those in an iPhone’s L.E.D. display. This makes it easier to mask the point where, beneath a glass surface, a display ends and its frame begins. An Apple Watch jellyfish swims in deep space, and becomes, Ive said, as much an attribute of the watch as an image. On a current iPhone screen, a jellyfish would be pinned against dark gray, and framed in black, and, Ive said, have “much less magic.”"

Jony Ive himself indirectly states here its time LCD died

In addition these questions still remain

1.Why is almost the entirety of the Android ecosystem on OLED?
2.Why does the Apple Watch use OLED
3.Why is the S7 Edge display and Samsung displays in general getting the "Best screen on the planet" award in multiple websites?

I venture to say, probably more consumers than that general statement will lead you to believe.
If you use a phone for more than 2 years the display will be the least of your problems. The battery would have degraded. The phone would start lagging

Cell phones have undergone rigorous health testing and yet rumors and actual cases of brain cancer don't seem to go away.
Which are a small percentage. And yet here are people getting headaches from LCDs

Yep, just another rumor of something. We'll see.
Multiple rumors have pointed to this.I think we can treat this as a fact as this seems to be something every rumor agrees on

But this is Apple's opinion from the big man himself (Jony Ive)

He doesn't say any such thing.

1.Why is almost the entirety of the Android ecosystem on OLED?
2.Why does the Apple Watch use OLED
3.Why is the S7 Edge display and Samsung displays in general getting the "Best screen on the planet" award in multiple websites?

Because the entirety of the android system, buys the cheapest of the cheap panels with all of nuances that come with these panels.

If you use a phone for more than 2 years the display will be the least of your problems. The battery would have degraded. The phone would start lagging
On Android I would agree with that.

Which are a small percentage. And yet here are people getting headaches from LCDs
Glad you acknowledge a small percentage on LCD vs 100% on OLED with today's technology. Maybe future technology will change this.

Multiple rumors have pointed to this.I think we can treat this as a fact as this seems to be something every rumor agrees on
Absolutely, I love the rumor game myself, but don't treat is as fact.

He doesn't say any such thing.
Considering you probably didnt bother to read my post I highlighted the main points for you .Note this is stated by a guy who rubbed shoulders with Jobs and probably has the most power in the company

But OLED is known to be expensive to produce than LCD.Heck the cheapest OLED is more expensive than LCD.

BTW the best display on the planet is currently in Android and soon to be on iOS.You call that cheap?

You still havent answered these

2.Why does the Apple Watch use OLED
3.Why is the S7 Edge display and Samsung displays in general getting the "Best screen on the planet" award in multiple websites?

On Android I would agree with that.
My iPhone 6 disagrees

Glad you acknowledge a small percentage on LCD vs 100% on OLED with today's technology. Maybe future technology will change this.
No.I meant both have a small percentage of skewed results. On the whole none cause any health issues

Absolutely, I love the rumor game myself, but don't treat is as fact.
Tough not to treat em as fact as nearly every single iPhone rumor in the past on which every rumor site agreed turned out to be true

Considering you probably didnt bother to read my post I highlighted the main points for you .Note this is stated by a guy who rubbed shoulders with Jobs and probably has the most power in the company
He still didn't infer anything from what I just read, sure one can read between the lines, but that's all up to interpretation.
2.Why does the Apple Watch use OLED
Because it's a good application for it, not much risk of burn in and with a black background not much energy draw and you don't spend hours looking at the display.

3.Why is the S7 Edge display and Samsung displays in general getting the "Best screen on the planet" award in multiple websites?
The Ford Thunderbird was also given coty award.

My iPhone 6 disagrees
Let it disagree then. My iphone 6 agrees. Think there are enough threads out there to prove anybody's point, pro or con.

No.I meant both have a small percentage of skewed results. On the whole none cause any health issues
Okay.

Tough not to treat em as fact as nearly every single iPhone rumor in the past on which every rumor site agreed turned out to be true
Only speaking for myself, I don't treat rumors as fact.

LCD... OLED... who cares?

As long as the display looks nice and works reliably I don't care what Apple uses.

Apple probably didn't switch to OLED yet because they can't get the quality of panel they want, in the quantity they want, at the price they want, for use in iPhone.

I doubt it has anything to do with "burn-in" or color accuracy, because Apple is willing to use OLED panels in the Apple Watch.

Bickering over this is pointless.

What post did you read?Because here are the facts gleaned from the interview

1. LCD Technology is very very old AKA ancient.
2. OLED blends with the glass better as it has infinite contrast and blacks while LCD displays gray and is not magical like OLED

I suspect Jony wanted the iPhone to move to OLED much early on but thanks to TC pressure for profit margins, this couldnt materialize

Because it's a good application for it, not much risk of burn in and with a black background not much energy draw and you don't spend hours looking at the display.
But dont all OLEDs have burn in? So now you are back pedalling that it depends on your use case?

Okay and? This has what to do with the Galaxy S7 Edge winning display accolades world over?
[doublepost=1483196622][/doublepost]

I bet the bolded is the primary reason.Even now Timmy still refuses to let go of his precious LCD because the OLED is still gonna dent Apple's profit margin but has no choice due to slowing sales.Hence he kept the LCD around to compensate

What post did you read?Because here are the facts gleaned from the interview
I didn't glean that. What I did glean, is that a technology much better than OLED has to exist before apple will commit to it in an iphone.

I suspect Jony wanted the iPhone to move to OLED much early on but thanks to TC pressure for profit margins, this couldnt materialize
Or the technology has too many flaws for apple.

But dont all OLEDs have burn in? So now you are back pedalling that it depends on your use case?
All current generation, can't get away from it. Future generations? Who knows.

Okay and? This has what to do with the Galaxy S7 Edge winning display accolades world over?
That anything can be awarded, doesn't mean it's necessarily the best or the best over the long haul.

I didn't glean that. What I did glean, is that a technology much better than OLED has to exist before apple will commit to it in an iphone.
You made up a irrelevant point which has nothing to do with what Apple officially said.I think what he said is straightforward.A statement saying LCD is a very very old techology and nowhere near as magical as OLED isnt a statement up for intrepretation

Or the technology has too many flaws for apple.
If it had flaws they wouldnt use a flawed OLED on AW.Heck certain Android Wear Watches use LCD but Apple didnt

All current generation, can't get away from it. Future generations? Who knows.
As you rightly said,it depends on how much time display is used. However yellow tint is present on LCD right from the get go

That anything can be awarded, doesn't mean it's necessarily the best or the best over the long haul.
Personally,I buy products which get the most awards over those which get lesser ones. This seems like rational decisionmaking to me

Apple officialy didn't say anything. Official statements are earnings calls.

If it had flaws they wouldnt use a flawed OLED on AW.Heck certain Android Wear Watches use LCD but Apple didnt
Right so I'm betting it's not Samsung designed displays. But who knows.

As you rightly said,it depends on how much time display is used. However yellow tint is present on LCD right from the get go
False statement.

Personally,I buy products which get the most awards over those which get lesser ones. This seems like rational decisionmaking to me
So you bought a ford thunderbird because it must be the best car out there, which is what you are essentially saying?

Apple officialy didn't say anything. Official statements are earnings calls.
I consider interviews by Cook and Ive official ones as they are the ones who decide company startegy and the earnings calls are a result of those strategies.

Dont deflect the question by the way.Did or did Ive not call LCD a ancient technology and not as magical? Its a yes or no answer and we can infer about Apple's intentions from this answer

Right so I'm betting it's not Samsung designed displays. But who knows.
Samsung is the only one who can come close to manufacturing OLEDs on this scale

False statement.
As I proved in the wiki above uneven screen lighting AKA yellow tint is a hallmark of lcd

So you bought a ford thunderbird because it must be the best car out there, which is what you are essentially saying?
Your comparison is flawed as you are comparing the awards of a finished product while I am saying the DISPLAY of the S7 Edge got awards. This display is usable in other phones who use Samsung as their supplier which is to say Apple

I don't consider them official statements. Generally you know what is a personal opinion or not.

No.

Still rumors, but they are not the only fish in the pond.

Like I proved oled burn-in is 100%?

Your comparison is flawed as you are comparing the awards of a finished product while I am saying the DISPLAY of the S7 Edge got awards. This display is usable in other phones who use Samsung as their supplier which is to say Apple
Absolutely,

I don't consider them official statements. Generally you know what is a personal opinion or not.
But they do give insight as to why the company OFFICIALLY does what it does

Plain denial of facts.Plain and simple.I will paste the quote one last time

“The whole of the display comes on,” he said. “That, to me, feels very, very old.”
Ive said, have “much less magic.”"

Still rumors, but they are not the only fish in the pond.
They are the only fish in the pond capable of supplying components to the largest fish in the pond

Like I proved oled burn-in is 100%?

Where did you prove its 100%?That wiki? Then LCD Yellow tint is also 100%[/QUOTE]

But they do give insight as to why the company OFFICIALLY does what it does
If one reads between the lines and ascribes some meaning that isn't there. Sure.

Plain denial of facts.Plain and simple.I will paste the quote one last time
There is no denial going on, only some circular reasoning.

“The whole of the display comes on,” he said. “That, to me, feels very, very old.”
Ive said, have “much less magic.”"
An example of ascribing some meaning that isn't there.

They are the only fish in the pond capable of supplying components to the largest fish in the pond
No they aren't. Easily verified with a web search.

Where did you prove its 100%?That wiki? Then LCD Yellow tint is also 100%
Where did you provide it's 100%?

http://www.google.com/search?q=oled+burn-in

They are the only fish in the pond capable of supplying components to the largest fish in the pond

This is true.

Currently Samsung supplies something like 95% of smartphone OLED displays. Certainly they're the only ones with real mass production capability for the next couple of years, which is why Apple had to make a multi-billion dollar deal with them.

Even then, Samsung can only supply Apple about 100 million a year, which is less than half of iPhone sales. Thus the prediction that OLED would only be in a more exclusive iPhone model.

No one else foresaw OLED taking off, and the other major display makers procrastinated.

LG and Japan Display won't begin to be ready with mass OLED until 2018, and Sharp will likely be even later than that.

(Despite news site predictions, Foxconn's CEO publicly stated that he prefers to concentrate on LCD, which is why they bought Sharp, who is great at making big screen LCDs. He and the others only recently realized that they needed to put more money into smartphone OLEDs, and that means both R&D and building new factories.)
