Time to start time lapse photography. I found out that the smart hdr applies to time lapse films. Not sure how to post them here though. Unless it’s a link to YouTube

Your dogs are beautiful!

Pro photographer here. Thank you all for sharing your photos! Some look fantastic! Others don’t. Yes a lot of that is differences in lighting, stabilization, focus points, HDR vs no HDR, user ability, etc. But let me tell you what I noticed with my Max compared to my 8+ when doing side by sides. The Max was producing sharper but noiser images. The 8+ was giving a softer more melty focus and considerable less noise. Hmmmm. While I like the idea of the smart HDR I’m thinking all the image consolidation has created some crappy digital grain and it sucks. I was so disappointed. Now, Part 2 to this story. My husband got the Max and I decided to do a side by side with his. BAM. His was beautiful! Not perfect, but waaaaay better. Performed exactly like I’d expect, and similar to some of the photos on here with beautiful contrast, low noise, and sharp details. WTF! I played with both Max’s for about an hour (doing side by sides with identical settings) before I concluded mine was a dud. Seriously! The photo quality was different and even obvious to my husbands untrained eye. Back to the store I went, swapped it out, and my new one is perfect. If you are noticing your camera seems to be taking awfully noisy pics (like real bad) then you might want to test it against a store phone and see if you notice a difference. In my case, my new one is great!! Also, I don’t expect dslr quality here, I just want what the phone specs are supposed to give. And for a casual snapshot scenario, this camera is awesome! (If you get a good one SMH)

That’s interesting, never really thought about possibly just getting a phone that had a dud camera, but of course it is possible.

I wish apple would let me save their camera photos in raw format. That way I don’t have to use another app
I have been wanting this for a long time. All this processing for fake bokeh etc..I dont see RAW coming anytime soon. All though, ProCam4 is awesome!

I'm loving the camera on my XS coming from an iPhone 8 I find the results amazing. Playing around with portrait mode is awesome and the results are great.

Some amazing shots here in this thread !

I'm comparing it to real cameras just like Apple does. Apple doesn't get on stage and compare it to a S9, they compare it to DSLRs.

So you're as rational as a marketing shill :D

Perhaps try not taking them so seriously and try thinking for yourself a bit. Different tools in all trades have their places and have different expectations of them.

if you're a reasonable, rational person, that is.

I think for myself just fine. Take your condescension elsewhere, bozo.

I see a difference with my 8+ For sure. The 8 plus has a softer focus with crappier white balance for sure. Still a decent camera though. The Max pics were great for detail but still there is some slight grain/noise in certain lighting conditions. I like the HDR for some scenes but for others I found it lost contrast in the darks and made the colors too blendy. I set up my Max to have optional HDR so I can turn it off when I want to. Overall it’s a good upgrade. It’s fun to plan with the bokeh effects although they aren’t comparable to a pro lens it’s still fun to play with. For that reason I’m happy I upgraded.
Thank you very much for your detailed reply.:):)
I'm looking to upgrade from an iPhone 6, and I was thinking to get the 8 plus or the Xs, the camera quality is a primary factor, and trying to decide. I'm a little bit worried about the posted issue of screen flicker of Xs, I don't know what to think about it.
